Does the sleeve cure your food addiction?
HatheryOnHerWay replied to Kcarr1120's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only a month out, but it hasn't cured my addiction. I still find myself obsessively craving certain foods. The difference is, when I allow myself to have it it's not satisfying. And I usually don't want it again. It's never as good in reality as it is in your head! -
My pants almost fell off in the hall at work last week, yet I'm still too scared to try on any of the smaller sizes in my closet. haha

Wowza! Can anyone say BABE? -
Looks vs. Health...looks 1 health 0
HatheryOnHerWay replied to nursepez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would say my #1 reason for doing it was my mental health (didn't want to feel depressed anymore), #2 was look, and #3 is health. Not gonna lie! -
I just bought some of these at HyVee. Only $2.99 per bag! I bought the onion kind, and had one with guacamole. It was awesome!!!!

Well if you do end up considering Dr. Borland, feel free to PM me. I'll tell you anything you want to know
-
Girl, you're going to be my inspiration! You were the same starting height/weight as me, and we're almost the same age

I was outpatient. I think it really depends what you're comfortable with. If you are the sort of person who likes to have a nurse at your disposal 24/7, staying longer in the hospital is probably better. If you're someone like me who sort of likes to be left alone to deal with things...the less clinic time the better

So disappointed- no relief from pain from surgeon
HatheryOnHerWay replied to ninanew's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This might sound stupid, but have you tried icing the area that hurts? That worked really well for me when I was having pain issues in one specific area. I also found that wearing a back brace to sort of "hold everything together" helped. -
I had my sleeve done by Dr. Borland in New Iberia, LA. I had a wonderful experience with him (if you are comfortable with an oupatient procedure.)

I would ask your doctor (if you haven't already!) if it's safe for you to be taking prenatal Vitamins. Sometimes the amount of folic acid in a prenatal Vitamin is too high for a non-pregnant person, and can be harmful. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/35874922/ns/health-diet_and_nutrition/t/your-breakfast-giving-you-cancer/#.UcTGD7XvtGM

regreting this whole thing
HatheryOnHerWay replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BTW, I totally know what you mean about looking sloppy OP. My jeans almost fell down in the hallway at work today! hehe. I just try to remember they're saggy and loose because I'm getting smaller. -
I'm glad to hear that you're getting back on track again; we'll be here to support you the whole way

Anybody ever actually watch a lipectomy (central body lift)?

That sounds like a horror movie!!! -
Am I crazy?!? What is going on here?!
HatheryOnHerWay replied to Flagstaffian's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I, too, have an overeating issue. But if you can commit to following a plan, I would suggest trying Medifast. Those 35 pounds should come off pretty easily if you follow their plan. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you could do it in 2-3 months...max. -
Just one more bite
HatheryOnHerWay replied to ItsFinallyMyTime's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I, too, am in the process of learning to stay away from that one last bite. It never ends well. -
Blood pressure question
HatheryOnHerWay replied to tinahall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wish I could go off my meds soon, but unfortunately my high blood pressure is anxiety-based. Bla! -
regreting this whole thing
HatheryOnHerWay replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I'm thin I look like a total boy. I'd rather be a curvy, girly girl but that's just not the way I was made. I think I'd rather be a healthy curveless wonder than an unhealthy curvy gal. That's just me -
That's one of my biggest fears is that even after I've lost weight, I'm still going to HATE exercise!

ITCHING around incisions....
HatheryOnHerWay replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put Itch-X around the incisions and was just careful not to get it on the actual incision, just the skin around it. -
In the US, I'd say $10,000-$20,000 is average. I have a bunch of self-pay prices listed on my blog (the link is in my signature)

Jacked up body image....and NSV?
HatheryOnHerWay replied to Nicolanz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I was in high school wearing size 9 juniors I thought I was fat. For those of us with body image issues, I think it's something we always have to deal with. -
Not sure what to say anymore...
HatheryOnHerWay replied to julia7665's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost 100 pounds before and gained it back...in less than a year. For me, it's not losing the weight that is hard. It's keeping it off.
