I've researched and wanted this proceedure for a couple of years now. I've finally decided to pay for it myself because my insurance policy has an exclusion in it from my employer that does not allow it. They really have no idea how awful that is for me and others like me here. I've had my first visit with the office and some testing. Lab tests are next. They found that I have a rather large Hyadel(?) Hernia and that it needs repair. Because of that need, my insurance can pay for some of the operation and they can take care of the hernia and the lap band at the same time. Cool! My surgery is scheduled for May 13th which is a Thursday. I should be able to go back to work the following Monday. I am telling most everyone that it is hernia surgery. Some people do not understand why I can't loose weight by myself. I've been over weight for 33 years now. I'm ready for this. **5-24-10 Well I did it. I'm so glad. Had surgery on the 13th. I'm 16 pounds down already. Crazy good. Discomfort and resetting my eating/exiting cycles are under control. My post-op visit is tomorrow. All seems to be healing well. Woooo Hoooo.
