I have struggled with my weight for years as does most of my family.  I was able to keep my weight off for a good part of my life then I got married and my husband and I started eating out all the time and the weight started piling on.  I have probably tried every weight loss program there is.  I would have a little success but the weight would always come back on plus more.  At my highest weight I was 296, I eventually got it down to around 284.  After trying many times to lose the weight and never having much success I decided on weight loss surgery.  I went to the classes that my hospital required me to go to and for a while could not decide between the LapBand or Gastric Bypass.  I talked to my surgeon and did some back ground on both surgeries and decided on the lapband. To be honest with you I was sick of food I just didn't want to be hungry.  It seemed like every time I got hungry all reasoning  went out the window and I would overeat. I wanted to be done with that. I always felt too like I had to explain or  make excuses as to why I was overweight. I was tired of not having any energy. I used to be very active snow skiing and scuba diving all the time and with the weight it just became to hard to do those things.  If you wreck snow skiing how are you going to get up at that weight and scuba diving you have to wear weights just to sink on top of the extra weight I was carrying it made it impossible. When we would go somewhere I would avoid the stairs because it was so hard to go up them. It was even small things like that.  And I never felt well or healthy.  I knew that my body could not take much more of this extra weight.  So I made the decision to have the lap band surgery.  My doctor is wonderful I couldn't have asked for anyone better. He is talented, smart and he has a great sense of humor which makes everything so much easier.  I had my surgery on November 23, 2009, I thought I would be nervous before the surgery but I trusted my doctor and I was not nervous at all.  Since my surgery I have lost 66 lbs so far.  I have never felt better and I have so much energy.  I still have a way to go but I will get there.
