HELP, I'm starting to miss food...
Tkmdhi replied to MELVING's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy Bandiversary! I'm right there with you... even in this first month when it's supposed to be the hardest, I feel so full of hope and optimism, that no amount of cravings or hunger are going to derail my determination! I wish you the best in your next month. Will you get your first fill soon? -
HELP, I'm starting to miss food...
Tkmdhi replied to MELVING's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly, something we should have been doing all along, huh? I hope that your post op goes well. Are you still on liquids? I was banded a month ago tomorrow, so Wednesday I get to begin the "regular" (in Lap Band terms) diet. I get my first fill Thursday. Very excited as I've just begun to get hungry the past couple of days. How are you doing with your hunger? -
HELP, I'm starting to miss food...
Tkmdhi replied to MELVING's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I went through that a bit too. It was brief moments of panic that I could no longer eat my favorite foods. It passed very quickly, as I continued through my day and my small, long lasting meals, and the wonderful feeling of watching the scale go down. Just take it as it comes, and remind yourself of how incredible it will feel to be comfortable in your own skin. That food doesn't deserve your anxiety! -
Oh no.... probably the first time in your life you've benefited from the swelling! I get what you're saying though, you've finally made it to surgery, made it through surgery, almost through the first few days of recovery... now you want to get on with it! It's always amazing to me how fast time flies... days, weeks, months... Let's just hope for a little of that fast flying time once we're banded! I get banded on Tuesday May 18th. I'm very excited.. and nervous. I can't wait until it's over and I'm home safely with my kids. Just like you!

So how do you feel about the whole experience? Are you excited? I'll bet that feeling better makes you more enthusiastic. One day at a time at this point though, right? I'll bet it feels incredible to not be hungry! I'm happy for you that you are feeling good.

Hi Sydney. Yes, I keep thinking about that too. I almost felt a little panicky (and I am SO not panicky) when I started my liquid diet, like "I'm going through this stressful, life changing event, and I can't turn to food to comfort me" You know? Like you said, it's our security blanket. No more! I'm glad that you already feel better about it. I can't help but think that the change in your physical stomach, along with the side effects, will help with that mental change. When did you have your surgery? How did it go? How long did it take before you felt well enough to do normal around the house things?

You're so sweet. Thank you for the encouragement. I must admit that I'm beginning to get nervous. Not back out nervous, but "I'm about to electively go through surgery" nervous. I can't wait, like you to come out on the other side! We're starting at about the same weight and going through it at the same time so it would be great to keep in touch! How long were you at the hospital? I'll bet that Friday feels like a lifetime ago now, huh? Do you work and if so, how long before you go back? I hope that for you... it's all easy from here!

That's great that you can sit up to your computer after only two days! Congrats on the big weight loss already too, that's incredible! I am getting banded on Tuesday and starting to get a little nervous. It helps to hear about you doing so well so shortly after your surgery. Good luck, I hope you continue to feel better.

Hi, My surgery date is coming up Tuesday, May 18th. I have been so excited and sure, however something came up that has left me a bit concerned. My friend had her surgery yesterday, and she said that she, along with all of the others that had the surgery that day, had to leave with oxygen. This is the first I've heard about that. I understand why, and certainly would not be against it if it were needed, I'm just curious... is this normal?

"Normal Grooming. Obese."
Tkmdhi replied to 2beskinny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi 2BeSkinny, Normal Grooming. Obese... Yes, that would be difficult to see. Sometimes it's those small, unexpected moments that really hit home. Your tour of diets sounds much like mine. I left out the Fen and just went with the Phen. I also lost 60 pounds on Ephedra before it was banned. It worked great.... until I stopped taking it. I'm glad as well, to have made it through (hopefully) with no side effects. I do not have any sort of medical WLS coverage in my Kaiser plan. So, I am self paying. Honestly, I didn't think twice about it... just knew I had to make the investment and go for it. I'm planning rather than hoping that this will be the final weight loss frontier. My surgery date is on May 18th. Needless to say, I'm over the moon. I hope that your insurance will be approved, but I'm glad to hear that you will move forward with it anyhow. I read posts on here of people that really need this... but absolutely cannot afford it. I'm happy for you that you can. Keep me posted on your progress... hopefully you can get moving forward soon. -
What are your goals for lap band surgery?
Tkmdhi replied to atgoalgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi At Goal Gal, I love reading stories like yours. That's why I'm here, as well as many, many others I'm sure. Thank you for sharing, and for continuing to encourage us Pre-Op people. My goals are similar to yours. I want to be healthy. I want to be more active with my children and live to see their children grow up. Of course, the image aspect of it is compelling as well. I long for the day when I too can wear that pencil skirt, and make it look good! Also, it's the self confidence that I miss. I truly believe that with the help of Lap Band, I will be there again. I do have a question that I'm not sure who to ask... but since you have been through this, I will ask you. I have two daughters, 12 and 14. They are loving, supportive girls and we are very close. The thing is... I'm not sure if I should tell them what I'm doing or not. I don't want to confuse them, in this time of their adolescence, but I also don't want to keep it from them. Do you have any advice on this? Thanks for your support and your time. Have a wonderful evening!
