In March 2007 a simple annual check up discovered Type 2 Diabetes/ Blood Pressure through the roof and my Heart was beating @ less than 35%. Had to do something. Got 20 pounds off through diet and exercise. Hit a brick wall. Did the research, my primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Harrison took me a year to really decide if it was my best route. Lately been wondering if I should have gone the Sleeve or Gastric Bypass route. I am currently stuck at 242 and almost two years into the procedure. I use sheer will power to push away from the table and not indulge. i do water aerobics Mon, Tues, Thurs and Sat mornings.
My dilemma is that I can't go past 6cc's in my band.I had the band in for over 9 months and one day it just closed up. I thought something was stuck in the hole so I tried the warm liquid and just waiting. Three days later I hadn't had any liquid or food that would go through. It would go down lie there and come right back up no force required. I saw my doctor he had me in radiology to see that liquid got stuck and verified my port/band and stomach were all doing fine and we thought it was an unexplainable fluke he removed all the saline left me that way for two weeks filled my back up to 6cc and I had no problem. Three months later I went back in for an adjust and had 1/2cc put in. Bam same problem. We tried .25 also. After three separate tries in 2009 I have given up hope that I will ever acheive my "sweet spot"
I have no restriction and each time I try to creep any amount of extra saline into the band it closes up the next day and not even liquid can go through. It doesn't feel tight, it's positioned properly. I know that just because my band can take up 14cc doesn't mean I need it that high. My issues is that I got this band put in as an aid to portion control and I don't feel like I am getting the full benefit. I am mentally holding the weight gain at bay and fighting to get to my goal.
