I find myself looking at people and wondering if they've had WLS. One couple to be exact. They were heavyweight high school sweethearts, most of the kids made fun of them when they married. I saw them a while ago and could not believe it was the same two people. I made a mention to a friend and found out, it was no due to WLS, it was METH, I was totally shocked. I want to tell them there are other ways to lose with out messing up your whole life. SO SO VERY SAD

How to check on Doctors in Mexico?
amom replied to tribon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I'm going to Dr Huacuz on :clap2: March 20th, which I have spoken to several times , he called me himself after my first email. His assistant Norma is wonderful to speak with also. They sent me a picture of my pick up driver (Victor)so I would have no problem knowing who he Is. I feel totally at ease. -
Hi Toni, I used to live in Kalispell. Small world. I'm 44. I live in NE Washington outside of Newport. I plan to use Dr. Trotter for my aftercare and fills even if he is a little more expensive it will be cheaper in the long run. After you pay fuel, food,+ travel time & overnight stay in Tri-cities it still would be less. I go to Spokane at least once a month anyway. When are you moving to Spokane? I'd love to have a support buddy if your interested.:clap2: I have surgery March 20th. Excited but nervous.

:help: I have pretty much everything packed but was wondering, will I have problems taking my meds with me across the boarder. Do I put them in my purse or suitcase. I have liquid Hydrocodone, Prilosec, detrol, ketoprofen, and a few I could go without for a day or so. Do they have to be in the original bottles? Has anyone ever had a problem. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any input on this would be appreciated.

Living on the river we get fresh fish when desired, but I still prefer to get my fish from the Schwan's Man. I really like the unbreaded Blue Hake, and the stuffed sole minus the stuffing which my hubby gladly eats. I must be weird because I hate Tilapia, maybe its the way it was cooked the first time. :angry:angry:angry:angry:angry This is very disheartening to have to write. But I've been reading several past post over the last few days and find that many of you are mad because we my husband and I did not name the person whom was picked to recieve the free lapband. I did post to let everyone know that due to LEGAL privacy issues we could not post the name. It was up to the choosen person. I don't blame her for not telling, due to the crap that we got and have been posted from some of you. We had decided that maybe we would be able to do this again later next year but due to the negative comments that have been said about us and pm'd to us we have decided to go elsewhere to look for some deserving person to use our money. What is wrong with you people? We /Someone trys to do some good for someone and we get crap for it, is it because you are jealous or what. We have had it up to our ears for all the crap people have given us . We are done with this forum. Find help somewhere else because it will never come from us again. Just to let you know She was banded and is doing VERY WELL. AMOM & ADAD

This is the last post I will submit so please QUIT emailing me BEGGING me to come back. The damage has already been done. This whole issue has had me crying more than anyone knows. I can't believe the two faced people who post here. First you email negative comments to me then you post publicly and act as if your not one of them. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. GOODBYE

I posted about the band being done in mexico before we found our insurance paid 100%. That is why we decided to give the money to someone deserving. We followed our lawyers advice to the letter. I don't feel I have to prove anything to anyone but GOD HIMSELF.

I've been reading some of the posts for the past few months and figured it was time to join. I have a surgery date :clap2: of 3/20/07. My son will be traveling with me for support, we will stay a extra 2 days, just to look around San Diego. :hungry: I will start my liquid diet on 3/09/07 and wanted to say thanks for the idea of taping the fridge door shut with duct tape, I was quite worried about how I was going to stay away from the fridge, I think this will work.. Thanks for all the support you've given me in making my decision, thru your posts, even though you didn't even know it. Kaelin's G-Ma

The recipient of the lap band has been notified. We are waiting for a response from them, but due to privacy issues we will not publish the essay. The person may or may not reveal themselves to others, that will be their choice. We would like to thank everyone who emailed us and we wish you all the best. Amom & Adad

Hi everyone. 11 people wrote to us, spilling their guts as some may put it. We wish we could help all of you. To all of you that would like to know who the winner is, I'm sorry they have to make that choice. I can tell you (with their permission) it is a she and she will be flying out from the mid west to spend some time with us and go over paper work. She is thinking about having her surgery by a doctor in our area, who will then give a referral to a fill MD in her area. Thank you all again and God Bless.

My husband was given this diet by Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. I don't know if they created it but it did the job for him and he's up and running strong.

First off we'd like to thank everyone for their input on this gift of life as someone called it. We have turned all the legal issues over to our lawyer, he would like to see us make a loan to someone at say 2% interest over 10 years instead of just giving it away. Which we have not totally decide against this idea so.... We have decide to start the process by asking everyone interested to write a essay telling about themselves all the whatfors whys and how comes, tell us anything you might think will help our decision and why we should pick you. We also want you to know a little about us. Some have called us angels but really we're just normal people like you and yours. We have 3 children, 2 in college. We live in the Pacific Northwest in a small community. I am a stay at home mom and my husband drives truck, so you see we are not rich by any means, we just feel compelled to, as someone said, save a life. The biggest reason I think we decided to do this, after great discussion with our children is I read a post on this site (by I think Full of grace) of her pastor being in a fatal car crash due to the seat belt not fitting, I cried for hours after reading this and I asked myself what can I do to help a family not have to go thru this kind of tragedy. That's when I came up with this idea. So get your fingers going and drop a us a pm. The person we pick will be notified by on DEC 25th. We will keep posting to let you all know how its going. There will be a deadline date of DEC 15th, 2006 God Bless all. Amom & Adad

:) Many have asked where to send your essay. Our email is faithwalkers4u@potc.net. There is still plenty of time to get yours in so don't delay. Tell us about yourself, your situation. Let us know if you'd like a loan, gift or even just a bit to help pay off the remainder of your costs. We would like to help as many as possible. God bless Amom & Adad

This Christmas will be quite different for us. As some of you know we will be gifting or giving or loaning money to someone for lap band surgery. So as a family we have decided to spend a little money on ourselves by building a new deck for the hot tub. We only have my parents and my sister and brother in law whom both live 6 hrs+ from us, and as adults we choose not to buy gifts for the simple reason we have everything we need already. I did get my parents and sister a small 20.00 dollar item for their yards, which I know I will get a "I told you not too" from both of them but as me I just can't help it. I'm also one of those type of people that can't buy a gift and keep it a secret, I have to give it as soon as I see the person. We do have three children 20, 18, & 17 and a 3 month old granddaughter whom are spoiled all year long. The kids all got new cars this year after our oldest son rolled his old one due to a wheel problem. We live 50+ miles from the nearest big town and I don't want my children broke down out in the woods so to speak. So I guess to answer the question of how much we will spend I'd say $300 or so. As for travel, I don't think so, it's been snowing off and on for the last week and at this point we have 10 inches of the fluffy white stuff, travel is a once a week trip by snowmobile to the little mini grocery store and mail box 3 miles away . To some this may sound like HELL but I love it here. Cheers to All Amom & Adad

I'd go for it, maybe it will help people that are skeptical if this is the route to take. I noticed your surgeon is Dr. John Pennings, Is that the same one from Post Falls? He's to do mine in January.

Anyone who is interested may apply by writing a essay. Tell us a little about yourself, family, your situation, etc. Our lawyer would like us to make a loan instead of a gift, we have taken this under advise. We haven't decided yet which it will be. I think it will depend on the person or persons situation. Essay Deadline will be Dec 15 06.

OK here it is. My hubby and I just found out that our new insurance will pay 100% for lap band surgery. So my hubby suggested to take the money we were going to spend and pay for a needy person to have the surgery. My problem is how do we know if the person is truly needy. Is there any medical group that does lap bands that we could make a donation too? How do we know for sure the money is being used for the lap band and not the centers lunch break. I would like to take names and talk with all the people that think they really need this gift and ask all the whys whens and hows. Are we out of our minds to think about doing this? Yes we do know some people that could use the surgery but most could do it on their own without our help and others could if they just put their minds to it. I hope I don't offend anyone but what we mean is someone who may not have the money due to reasons beyond their control but have the control to follow orders, have the disciple it takes to achieve their goal etc. Input would be appreciated. When my daughter was 18 still in high school, she got pregnant. she finished high school with a 4.0. she then started college, works part time and is a wonderful mother to my grand daughter. She is very centered on what she wants out of life. I was there for my kids when they hit the bumps in the road but I also let them know what I was feeling when they took a wrong turn. After talking with my daughter we think if you put to many rules down at this age (she will soon be 18) your daughter will just leave and you may not see her again, I'm sure you don't want that. I know I'd be lost without my children in my life. Try talking with the bf he might just understand where you are coming from. Promise yourself not to get mad and yell it will just fall on deaf ears. Talk with them as adults. Most likely your daughter will get her fill and realize that she wants more from life and when she does be there for her and try not to judge. I can't say she wont do the opposite but after having 17 foster kids in our home and raising 3 of my own. We had plenty of bumps to go over, I proud to say none of my 20 kids have ever been in jail or been hooked on drugs. I guess my point is not everyone will turn out the way Mandy's sister did.

:cry I've read that some people get moody after surgery but what about before. I made the decision (about 3 yrs ago but could not afford it till now) to have the lap band placed but now I keep getting sad and crying for no reason that I can find and I don't have surgery until January 07. I can't keep this up it's to exhausting on me. Is this normal.
