I had the same thing happen but twice. Very disappointed to go away with no fill. I went to the hospital and did flouro just to see where the port was and its to deep, my doc only has 2 in needles and I need at least a 3 in. I found a doc about 5 hours away that will take me who has 3 in needles so I see him on Sept 17th. Wish me luck.

I was wondering the same thing I go for my first fill on the 17th of September. My problem is I'm addicted to homemade chicken Taco salad, minus SC I use a little FF ranch.

Yes Terri, It is quite a list, maybe I should go back and put stars next to the ones that meant the most. Without this group and my band I'd never have gotten as far as I have. Thanks to you and all the other banders and pre-banders for the support. -

Ok, heres my list. Having only one chin Being able to walk more than 10 ft Getting rid of wheelchair, cane, & walker. Being able to get in truck without a forklift Being able to shave my legs in the shower Weighing what’s on my drivers license Working up a sweat, never did anything that caused it before. Being able to get my purse off the floor of the car without unhooking my seatbelt. Not being afraid to go out in public Having the confidence to speak up when I disagree Not being able to finish a meal and not asking for more Sitting in a lawn chair without fear of collapse Buying a xl shirt at a benefit concert without worrying will it fit Sleeping in the same bunk as my hubby Not having the steering wheel sitting on my stomach Being able to cut my own toenails Sitting instead of falling into my chair Being able to sit on the lawn and not needing a hoist to get up. Doing things myself without asking someone else to do it. Babysitting & playing with my grandbaby all day without feeling exhausted. -
Weight Challenge - September to Thanksgiving 2007
amom replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know my goal is kind of out there. My mom and I are going on a cruise the 9th of December, which gives me a higher incentive. Not to mention the seat rules on the plane. Best of luck to everyone. I have to share my NSV. Yesterday on my daily walk I found every few steps I was pulling up my pants, so when I got home I went shopping in my daughters closet and tried on her pants, THEY FIT. She wasn't very happy that I stole her pants, but I sure am. Started at a size 30W now a 22W, long way to go but I'm well on my way. I can't remember the last time I was in a 22. I forgot to add I haven't driven in several months and today I borrowed my daughters little kia car and for the first time I didn't rub the steering wheel. I also walked to the store twice today which is a mile, with a long hill at the end. I feel so proud I could burst. You see, no more using a wheelchair, walker, or cane, I sent them to the nursing home.

Wow Ghost, what a difference. That's one place I want fixed right away. I can cover up the rest of the skin but my arms are always waving at everyone. I'm going to try this, Can you tell me how you did it exactly.

NSV means Non scale victory and DH is Dear husband.

I agree with Wendell. I used to try to be super mom but I found when I got sick and ended up in the hospital it was time to quit. I also found I was not doing my kids any good by doing so much for them, they have to learn to stand on their own two feet. Where would they be if something happened to you. You need to stop and look at the big picture. You also need to set aside some time for yourself, I know its hard but you must make the time or you'll burn out. Best of luck

My husband and I traveled by truck 22,000 miles in two months and I kept the flavored tuna and salmon cups ( my fav was cajun and honey BBQ, and good source of protein), rye krisp or simalar crackers, almonds, jerky, water w/crystal light to go. I also have a small crockpot that plugs into the lighter socket and I baked Marie Callenders, dry mix, just add water corn bread (while moving) it bakes in about 1 hour. I also have a plug in pot that heats water for cup of soups or broth. Both items can be bought at most truck stops like Petro, Pilot, TA, or Flying J. Best of luck

How Many Pounds until People started discussing your weight loss?
amom replied to mceni's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've lost 65 lbs and still nothing. I even traveled for 2 solid months and now that I'm home I expected some comment from someone, but NOTHING. I crave the day when the comment comes "OH YOU'VE LOST WEIGHT". I get so depressed sometimes . I Need some Comment. -
Winter Cruise anyone???
amom replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If I had not already booked a cruise for the same week I would say yes but I can't be in 2 places at once. Count me in for a summer late spring cruise. Can't wait, I'll keep my eyes open for a post. -
Very concerned about what I'm hearing and reading
amom replied to char1954's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Char, I understand where your coming from. I made my first fill appointment, went, only to be told its a no go, they couldn't find the port and the flouro guy is so far away, with schedules and such its impossible to make. The cost is a bit of a issue but I figure if I have gone this long maybe I'll be lucky and not need many. I wonder the same thing, should we start a piss and moan thread for just this subject. I can eat just about anything so I have to be really careful. I am pleased that I've lost 65.5 lbs but I'm afraid without a fill soon I'll start gaining. -
Just a note to let you all know I'm home for awhile. Had a great time traveling but it sure feels good to sleep in my own bed.

Well this is the first time I've been able to get on since June 11th. We've been to New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho. We plan to be gone until the first of September. To date I've lost 65.5 lbs, feeling really good. We walk everyday and I try and do different exercises (leg lifts, arm curls, etc) in the rig while we drive. The hardest part is eating in restaurants. Most of the time we cook our meals in the rig, but every so often we splurge and eat out. I have found so far all the restaurants have accepted my restaurant card. Well I've got to go, just wanted to check in with you all. Have a great summer, whats left anyway. ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!
-
I've lost 65.5 lbs and I have a cup of coffee every morning, it seems to loosen my band. I also have a diet pepsi once in awhile, I just drink it very slow. I don't drink beer so I can't answer that question. I do know everyone is different, just because I've had no problems doesn't mean you won't. Just be cautious. Best of luck.

I use worldwide "pure protein" shakes, 35 grams protein 3 carbs, you get them at GNC, they also carry sly stones protein puddings, called instone, the banana cream is reallllly good.

I have been traveling all summer an when ever I take a shower I have a wad of hair the size of a apricot. I found a shake at GNC thats reallly good. Its made by worldwide, its all protein. They also carry slyvester stalones pudding, instone, its all protein. The banana cream in both items is REALLLLY good. To finish this off I must say it did help. I drink one shake and eat one pudding everyday, it did make a difference.

I got my card from my surgeon. I found that if I explain to the waitperson they are very understanding. I usually order from the buffet at the childs rate of about 3.99. It works well for me this way I can pick and choose. I've found that sometimes things are cooked to dry to eat so this works better for me. Won't have net for awhile but I 'll check in as often as possible.. ON THE ROAD AGAIN.... Best to you all

Metaline Falls, Washington, is where I call home. I'm traveling the 11 western states for the summer so every night is a new home.

Is dr.Huazac a good dr. my surgery is the 30th of July
amom replied to yummieT's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgeon was also Dr. Huacuz. He and his staff were excellent. I had my suregry March 20, 07. To date I've lost 65.5 lbs. Victor the driver, is a jewel. I can't say enough good about the staff and his facility. They have this wonderful out of this world mango juice, they start you out on after surgery. It is so good I've been ordering online. They even sent a carton home with me. As for the pre-op diet, this is what I did. Four weeks before surgery I started practicing the diet as such. Since you only have a few days left, just keep in mind the long term goal. You can do it. When you are in doubt, come here for support. You are about to begin a new life. By the way when I had my surgery, I had to use a cane or wheelchair to get around, I was also on several medicines. Not anymore. I walk everyday and I take NO medications at all. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. -
My daughters Graduation was today. To start off the in-laws were supposed to show up yesterday but no they showed up two days early. My SIL is a opinionated, sarcastic, greedy, selfish Bi*ch,who has no kids and does not want any but is always the one to give advise, she has money so she feels this attitude is her right. Well I managed to get thru it and they left late this afternoon with a see you no time soon reply from me. My daughters graduation was great, the buffet that I put on all by myself with no help from my SIL thank you, was great. thanks to all of you who gave me food suggestions. My daughter is 19 with a beautiful 9 month old baby girl, she works part time, maintains a 3.8 GPA, along with taking 2 college classes, lives on her own, pays her own bills, and car payments. I'm so very proud of her for not being like so many girls that quit school when becoming pregnant. I started to cry when she was awarded 2 scholarships. she wears a size 22w and was voted prom queen this year, which I thought was awesome. she has overcome so much this past year. She will be attending college in the fall to become a social worker. She is one of the most determined young persons I know. I just don't get the relatives, my SIL gave both my boys, who had GPA's of less then 2.5 more then 250.00 for their graduations but they gave my daughter 25.00 with the reply of, she doesn't need it, she works. Give me a break. Neither of the boys were planning on attending any college at the time so they both just blew the money out the window. I know I went on and on, I just needed to share my day so I don't let my anger spill over to my family. Thanks for listening. Congrats to all the Grads.

Thanks All and yes she is remarkable, in my eyes anyway. It really makes a parent proud when the teachers and principal comment to you about how remarkable your child is. Edie, I wasn't meaning all childless people are this way. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I just get tired of her always commenting on my children and how I should do this or that and raise them this way or that. I want to scream at her "When you have kids and go thru it, Then you have th right to give your opinion". I don't feel this way about most people, just her. I'm glad you forgive me. AnnieM and Alexandra, I feel your frustration. My husband and I have done foster care for several years and some times you want to pull your hair out. I keep telling myself even with my own kids that they will grow up and become productive citizens, just love them and hold on, it could be a long ride. Thanks for listening. April

I agree, who in their right mind would think that when they say a week it would mean two days. I guess you and I attended the wrong schools when we were younger. Maybe you let them know, firmly but kind, to use dates for others that attended the same schools. How absurd. Congrats to you on your private class and up coming surgery.
