I owned/operated grocery stores for 18years while raising 4 children. Divorced after 22 yrs of marriage to my highschool
sweetheart. I always considered my self to be blonde cute sexy. Shortly after the divorce I was in a horrible auto accident. Cracked my skull in 3 places broke both legs. Had to learn to do a lot of things all over again. A few years later darn if I didn't get cancer. Knew I was going to die. Sold the stores got everything in order. Didn't want to have surgery until after my youngest graduated from high school so I could do the party etc for her as Her brothers and sister. But they had a meeting invited me and said My surgery was scheduled for the next morning. My oldest son said mom your not just dealing with your life your messing with ours. Boom...I had surgery which literally saved my life. A year later I was alive and had to find a job. Ended up working for Louisville police. Thank God for that one. Then one day I caught a glimpse of myself in the entrance door to wal mart holding onto a shopping cart only to assist my walking and arthritic legs and I thought who in the hell is that. Weighed 273 had sleep apnea and reflux and borderline diabetic. And back trouble. Right then I knew I had to do something . My family doctor said I couldn't loose it on my own. Suggested gastric bypass. I didn't want to go there. My daughter the RN suggested lapband. I immediatly looked into it and knew that was my answer. Only problem was that city government did not have any thing for obesity covered in our insurance. I started calling the majors office. Went to dr olsofkas and got the ball rolling in early 2006. Everything was set just waiting for obesity coverage. Then in early 2007 Dr olsofkas office called said it was a go with my insurance and they grandfathered me in right away. I was absolutely the happiest person on the face of the earth. And what a blessing it has been. I am no longer suffering from any of the illnesses previously mentioned. That was 2 months shy of 5 yrs ago . My weight has stayed at a healthy 137, I wear a size 6 jeans. size 7/8 dress . Never thought I'd be wearing fashion heels again and dancing . God has blessed me with 10 grandchildren and I am all in their business. Having a blast and just returned from celebrating the birth of my 1st great grandchild. Thanks to Dr John Olsofka , who did my lapband and to Dr Micheal Hess, Who treated me for obesity wrote letters in my behalf and sent me to Dr Olsofka.
