I can relate to the shake thing the first two days all I could get down was water and pain meds but that was hard.But now strained creamed soups and protein powder are my diet I was starting to feel a little better but tonight started getting bad pains in my shoulder. I didn't think It would start 5 days post-op. I hope your spirits lift soon :clap2: it is a major body change. I asked my DW what did I do to myself and did I make the right choice but she reassures me I did and I guess she is right.So I been trying to tell myself to take it one day at a time and it will get better. I have been mainly eating strained cream soups I take and puree them in my magic bullet then strain.So it may work with bean just blend well and strain it. Some of the caned soups are good but I Had to make some home made cream of potato with bacon soup that is my favorite. I was on Carnation instant Breakfast for 4 weeks so i don't really want more. I still add natural whey protein to my soup. For the first couple of days post op I could hardly get water and liquid pain meds down but day 3 started eating soup sipping slowly. Hi All!! I am back from surgery nowIhad it on Tuesday but I am very sore and feel like I been run over. Having a real hard time getting anything down even water and pain med. It's been two days post-op and i havent ate anything such as CIB or cream soup. I guess the good news is I lost another 6 pounds since surgery. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to eat something. Hello !! I have a question that my wife would like some input on. What type of post op care did you need from your family support person and how long did you need their help? I have read on this forum about some taking Gas X after Surgery for the gas pains.My question is how do you get the gel tabs down,do you cut them or crush or what? Thanks for the replies in advance Terry

I use Now Whey Protein Isolate 100% Pure Natural Unfavored It will dissolve easily in any thing and has no taste I mix mine in my carnation instant Breakfast or chicken broth the carnation instant breakfast are different flavors so it works well. there is 25 grams of protein per scoop. The isolate protein is the purist and best form but is more expensive. csehoen I made my decision after studying the options for about six months. The by pass has a high rate of complications and death they say 1 in 200 die during or shortly after surgery. Myself not being very lucky decided that wasn't for me. Another factor is that with by pass your window to lose your weight is 12 to 18 months after that your done.A lot of people gain their weight back after 5yrs. With the Band the risk is a lot less,it is reversible if need be and can be adjusted for life to help you lose weight and maintain your goal weight, loss is slower and more healthy it also gives you time to help get rid of all the excess skin with exercise.Hopefuly you will do your research and make the dission for you. I am having Dr Medlin do mine on the 13th I am on week 3 of 4 with the preop diet I guess I have a larger liver that needs more shrinking. It has been tough but have lost 25lbs so far.
