    Any June Bandsters???

I got banded June 15th and I have to say the gas pain sucked! Actually I thought my stomach was cursing me out in several languages but I have to say that walking around and taking my meds has made me a much happier camper today. (And you can't discount the value of good pothole!)

    Just Down About Everything!

Hah! Dreaming of chicken! That's funny because my last dream before surgery was of chocolate cake and the dog running amok in the hospital! Looking forward to full liquids!

    in pain

Walking is the only think that helped my gas pains (that and every pot hole between the hospital and home!). It's a miserable feeling but it does go away eventually.

    Nervous

I'm going to tell you a secret. I was thoroughly petrified going into surgery. I kept telling myself that I could still back out right until they put the mask on my face. When I woke up, I wondered just what the eff had I been thinking. Two days later, the pain has subsided some and I realize that life will be much richer for my decision.

    "BEFORE" Pictures

I have done the shoot and located photos of me from the year. It's amazing what self-denial I have.
  7. I have had no experience with this but I believe that so long as they are both in denial, and she doesn't want help, then nothing is going to happen. She needs to face herself and admit that she needs help before she can get better. Good luck.

    Surgery on Monday

Right beside you! My date is Tuesday. Instead of thinking of sharp objects and pain, look at pretty clothes and a healthier life. (I keep hoping that helps me too ).

    Banded by Friday

Follow your doctor's orders and you will be all right. Just remember, habits that are started now will make it easier after you are banded (ex. eating slowly, healthier and reasonable portions). My pre-op was a breeze. The hardest part was finding the danged hospital (in a city I dislike and have visited only a couple of times 20 years ago). To be honest, I'm nervous a little about the surgery and the recovery. I'm also nervous about my life afterward. This is a big step and it sounds to me like you are binge eating out of sheer nervousness. Maybe instead of eating you could try meditation, calm music, hot bath, or whatever has calmed you down in the past.

    Tricare standard - psych eval

Most doctors require that you see a psychiatrist just to make sure you don't have any underlying problems (such as severe depression). I don't think Tricare requires the visit but your doctor will and if you don't have one, you won't be able to have your surgery.

    Protein

Do you have time to make it the night before? If so, just refrigerate it in to-go cup.
  12. Rsilversea

    Having a tough time.

I can't have any fruits, vegetables, etc. I have a full liquid, high protein diet. I have to get at least 65g of protein per day. I can eat sugar free popsicles, sf pudding, low fat yogurt, strained creamed soups, broths, skim or 1% milk, etc. Thank God I can have thin Cream of Wheat (I love that stuff!).

I'm having the Lap Band. Actually I just got lucky. My MIL is coming down Sunday to take care of the family. Now I just hope the hubby can take care of the kid tomorrow. The way the kid's acting tonight, he can have him with blessing.
  15. I do every Monday but some people prefer every other week. It's up to you.

Excited isn't the word I would be using. I'm downright nervous but not about the surgery although I hate those huge IV needles. I'm nervous about leaving my husband and 2 year old alone. I'm sure they'll be fine but I have to line up snacks, meals, clothes and make sure bills are paid before I go to the hospital. I have to stay overnight or my insurance won't pay it. My husband told me not to die on the operating table because he doesn't want to explain to my dad why I was there (I haven't and won't tell my Dad until I see him next time--don't want his crap).
  17. My official weigh in day is Monday morning before I shower (usually 7 am). My only other weigh in is Friday morning at Weight Watchers but I don't count their weight as accurate.
  18. Throw the damned scale out! Measure your success by the way your clothes feel. If you must weigh (and I do), weigh yourself once a week or once a month at the gym.

I'm currently on my liquid pre-op diet and plan on still weighing in and going to meetings. What they don't know won't hurt them and the meetings are always helpful. During this time, I plan on following my doctor's orders rather than WW.
  20. My suggestion, if you're open to it, is pop them in a stroller and walk for 15 minutes. That's all. Then maybe the next week make it 20 minutes. Used to do that with my kid and Sunday I took him for a 5k walk (he loved it, I was all right with it until I discovered the blister on the bottom of my foot).

    Really bad day...

You were banded not that long ago. Let your body heal. Rome wasn't built in a day. It took time to put the weight on and it will take time (and work) to get it off. Relax. Keep concentrating on exercise and watching your food intake. It WILL come off in time.

    Hoping + wishing :)

Scary is the right word. It's a big step but I think, for me anyways, it will be worth it. I have my pre-op/boot camp Thursday and surgery is next Tuesday. The stress is adding up. I'm not worried about the surgery especially since I know my surgeon is good. I'm worried about the big honking IV needle. I'm worried about finding the hospital (it's in a city I haven't been to in 20 years) and I'm worried about my husband taking care of our son the day of surgery especially since he has to take me to the hospital and pick me. We have no babysitter. Everything else will be relatively smooth I think. I know I can do this but it's going to take work and commitment from me.

Did the 5K walk this morning and have the blisters to prove it. I prefer riding my bike but the walk was interesting. Managed to lose almost 4 pounds this week according to WW. Call me impressed (and incredulous).
