  1. Hi all and sorry for replying to an old topic. This is pretty much spot-on to what I'm looking for though so decided probably better than a new thread. I'm in Chicago too and also now not covered by insurance as well as in a very different and lesser place financially than I was in 2010 when originally banded. I've not had a fill since 2011 and thought I was doing OK, but I've started putting on weight and it's making me very nervous realizing that the band has very little impact any longer on what I ingest. I need a fill and hopefully a somewhat reasonably priced one. I see from reading through this topic that DayOne and Synchrony Health are recommended. Any other recommendations from Chicago area folks? Thank you and wishing you all a happy and healthy Memorial day weekend. Katy
  2. What are you eating at 2 months post-op? That's only a couple of weeks of non-liquid on Dr. T's schedule. Were you able to stick to liquids for the full six weeks and was the weight loss at a snail's pace then too?

  3. Hi. I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems. I had problems with pain in the port area and had to have port revision surgery about 4 months post-op. Other than that though and the fact that even the revised port is still a problem - I've done pretty well. Am 14 months post-op now and have lost 100+ pounds and am within 9 pounds now of a 'normal' b.m.i. so that is a short-term goal.

  4. Hi girls, I am new to the forum and looking for other Dr. T patients as well as anyone else who wants to share stories. I have had some complcations along the way (2 months post op) and losing at a snails pace with my wedding only 6 months away! I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced extreme abdominal pain since their first fill? It's put me in the ER 4 times in 2 months with no answers.

  5. Sorry for the delay in responding Maria. I used to go regularly and just recently went again. I enjoyed it and will be returning. Do you attend?

  6. Hey Katy.... Do you ever go to the support meeting @ West Lake?

  7. I'm participating in the challenge. Thanks for starting this. Am hoping to drop 16 pounds during the challenge.
  8. That's awesome that you made the milestone Mandy - congratulations! It is exciting.
  9. Thank you both so much. Hang in there Patty. I'm no poster child for the lap band, that's for sure, and don't always work a winning program. What's worked for me is to combine banded life with Weight Watchers. Keeps me honest and less likely to over-indulge in things that the band does little to help control. Everybody's experience is different though and I wish you all good results.
  10. How sweet it is and how good it feels. I'm 11 months out since surgery and hit the 100 lbs. lost mark today. I've got 43 to go to reach my goal. Thanks to all the members here for the solid information and support throughout and wishing you all success on your weight loss and maintenance journeys with the band.
  11. I've always been able to feel my port and it doesn't feel good. I even had port revision surgery to relocate my port slightly as it caused me quite a lot of discomfort immediately after banding. It's a bit better now, but still a problem for me especially when exercising.
  12. The hunger sensation I feel since being banded is completely different than what I used to experience as hunger before. It's now very much a physical sensation and it starts with my stomach rumbling - loudly. When I drink water it doesn't ease the hunger sensation. If I wait too long to eat when I know that I am physically hungry I get light headed. I'm pretty sure that what I called hunger in the old days was just 'head hunger'.

    Spring Break Challenge

Thanks for organizing the Spring Break challenge. I'm in late and am going to try for a 13 pound total loss. Spring Break Challenge
  14. This is my experience in a nut shell. I definitely cannot intake as much food in one sitting with MOST foods as I could before being banded. As to being full longer with the band - definitely not. My stomach is rumbling within four hours of a meal and I know I need to eat.
  15. Mine was six months with monthly nutritionist visits. I was fortunate to have a great nutritionist who really prepared me well for life after banding and helped a lot with getting myself in the habit of making good dietary choices even before banding. I lost 18 pounds during the pre-op phase.
