  1. I had my surgery on April 12 and as of today i am down 36 pounds without a fill and since April 27 my bmi has gone from 42.5 to 35.0. My doctor advised me that since i have been doing so good with the weight loss that he feels i do not need a fill as of now. Has anyone else not had a fill? I have left the fill decision in my doctors hands as he is the expert. I have been eating pretty good and started running about a week ago. I need some advice should i get the fill when i see my doctor on the 27th of this month or leave it as i am now as long as i continue to lose weight?

    No fills yet

to answer your question i sort of felt like i have had no restriction at all until today. I tried a piece of turkey (lunch meat) and i guess did not chew because i felt a feeling i have not felt since i was banded. I guess it was the stuck feeling. Thought i was going to throw up for about 5 mins and after walking around and burping it went away. Before today i would have said it was all me but i guess the band has been working all along i have just been lucky and have not gotten stuck. I have tried just about everything and have had no problems at all!!!!! I will just bust my but and try to do this without a fill because from what i understand after the fill it happens alot more frequently. Guess i could be wrong:eek:

    Ice Cream

I ate suger free fudge bars. I think they had like 60 calories per bar. They were just as much as a pudding. I ate them and had no issues and continued to lose weight. Truth be told i think you can eat whatever your band tells you is ok as long as it is in moderation. We are all different as you can tell by the posts as far as what we feel we can or cant eat.

    Days Off

I would say take as much time off as you can. I had surgery on Monday and i took two weeks off. I had no idea what to expect but i can tell you that i have a pretty good pain tolerance and i still feel sore today. I did have a hernia repaired so maybe thats why i am taking longet to get back to normal. Also i feel better being at home for the liquid pahse of the diet. It has been pretty easy but i am feeling hungry now. Atleast i can exercise when i want and sleep when i want because the first few days will be rough unless your a back sleeper. If not it will be hard getting a good nights rest. Bottom line if you have the time to take off then use it......

    I got on the scale....

Had my surgery Monday as well and i was up about 5 pounds. I am now down about 2 pounds. I still feel very bloated and like you cant barely get any fluids in. I do but i feel full from the time i get up until the time i am back up all night long. I have read so many different experiences on here its hard to say what is the norm. Hang in there as your not alone!!!! By the way how is the pain?
  8. Well today is the start of my new life. I was banded by dr. Sheih this morning in Fort Myers. My day started at 530am and everything went pretty smooth. Dr. discovered hernia while performing the surgery so that was fixed. Out of surgery at 11am back home by 7pm. Had no idea what to expect. Pretty sore in my shoulders and a little bit in my stomach. I was told to only drink 1 ounce of liquid per hour and that includes my medication. I feel like i am still thirsty. Did alot of laps in the hospital so i could get out of there asap!!!! Walking really seems to help with the soreness. Anyway looking forward to being able to drink more tommorow!!!!!

    Just got banded

:scared2:I am still sore as can be. I to have not desire to eat at all. I am doing ok with the water. You are on a mushy diet 2 days after surgery? WOW!!! I am supposed to be on clear liquids for a week and then full liquids for 2 weeks. Since i am full of gas still i am assuming thats why i have no appetite at all. Atleast the broth i am eating tastes very good. i am not a jello fan at all. Can't wait until i graduate to the sugar free puddings/ YUMMY
  10. I think my insurance covers the first one. How much are the fills after that?

    Starting my journey

Congrats. I just banded yesterday. Very sore but glad that i did it. My process started June 09 and i had to do the 6 month visit with a dr before getting approved. My dr had me do a lot of extra stuff that made it testy a times. I would say the worst part for me was the sleep test. I had to do it twice and for me that was the worst part of the journey thus far. Good luck

    Today is the day......

I was banded yesterday. The best advice i can give you is to walk and walk and walk. I am pretty sore from the surgery but all went well

    Just got banded

Thanks for the reply. It's a very strange feeling. I am alot more sore than i thought i would be as far as the incisions. Woke up last night after an hour of sleeping and couldnt go back to bed. I am also trying to feel my way through making sure i drink enough but also not too much if that makes sense at all. Went for a nice walk around the block this morning i was able to eat a couple of spoons full of jello (not a big fan) drank 4 ounces of protein and i am drinking 4-6 ounces of water every hour. Any advice??
  14. I get banded tommorow and was wondering when i need to start taking the supplements (vitamins). I am assuming that the first week i will not be able to swallow them right? Also any advise as to what i should take?
