So, I was eating lunch today and at the end of the meal I had the uncontrollable cough that did not want to stop. I called my surgeon because this has never happen before to this extent and could barely tell the nurse the problem between coughing. I was told to only take in liquids until they could see me tomorrow. But sometimes even liquids make me cough. I have a burning in the back of my throat and some discomfort at my port site. I just had fluid taking out about a month ago and about 2 weeks later I had a coughing episode but it stopped fairly quickly, Has this ever happen to anyone?

Hope you are feeling better. I too have had several incidents of fainting, low blood pressure then high blood pressure. I have send the cardiologist and he was not able to find anything wrong. Is there any test to prove the band being on a major artery?

Ok, so the coughing has gone away and the pain in my port area has remained. I thought it was related to me coughing so much, so do my doc. But now I have pain when eating any solid foods. I've been living on protein shakes this weekend. Going back to the doc on tomorrow and pcp on Tuesday. Hopefully one of them can figure out the problem.

Has anyone had a negative upper GI but something was found on the EGD?

I will be a revision from the lapband, which was put in by Tricare, my surgeons nurse is concerned that BCBS wont pay to have the band removed. Has anyone been in this situation? Also I just started going by to the surgeon's office to get fluid out, I had been miserable for a year, throwing up and discussed changing to the sleeve. I had regained the weight I had lost. The office wants to have me make several appointment before the submit my paperwork to the insurance company. I have done my nutrition visit and my psy visit. I was so depressed today because now I don't have a clue when I will get this band out so that I can get a second chance. Has anyone experienced this? Did you get approved. I would love to heard some feedback. The office also said she can submit my paperwork now but if I don't get approved, I only have one appeal. Should I wait and make several appointment or try now, I am so ready to get started. Thanks

I had an upper GI today that was negative.i will see my PCP on Tuesday and ask for an EGD. I just know something is wrong with this band.

I was seen by my doc this am and he took 1/2 cc out of my band and order an upper GI. The coordinator told me I there is a problem with the band it would change my requirements t for revision. I feel like I may have aspirated. I still cough and just on liquids. Having upper GI now

I called my insurance company and the may not cover the removal of my band bc I didn't have that insurance when it was placed and I need to have "significant complication/technical issues" to have it removed. And I have to show compliance with a nutrition and exercise plan. I had Fluid taken out of my band almost a month ago, I was way too tight, throwing up a lot. Now I'm coughing half way through a meal and have a lot of gas, even on my shoulder. I chew slow and do't drink from a straw. I made a second appt with the nut and will go to the support group meeting. I don't know what else to do.

I have the tricare and BCBS. My lapband was placed 3 years ago. I'm not sure if BCBS will pay for the removal since it was placed under Tricare and BCBS will cover removal if I am having complications if it was placed by them. Go with the sleeve if you can, for the last year I have vomited almost everyday and have been hungry after vomiting. Plus I've gain my weight back eating slider foods.

Not necessarily, you could be followed by your PCP as long has you see him regularly and you are weighed each visit s what my surgeon said.

I talked to my MD office today and they want to wait to submit my ppw. I have a band so this will be a revision. I have done my psy visit and nut visit but I have only seen my surgeon once in the last year, my second appt will be on July 1st. Any other lap band to revision had to see the surgeon for x amount of visit to get approved. I have BCBS of Tx.

Is anyone one else having surgery in Jly with Dr. Waggoner. I would love to have a band buddie

She is does talk alot, I keep the volume down to plus I don't wont to wake up the house. I did the full 3mile this morning plus my evening walk outside.

Old habits die hard...I tried to eat some ww yogurt while driving home from work and the motion of the car made me nauseated. I can drink my Protein shake ok on the way to work. Anybody elese have issues like this?

I which I could burp still have gas pain in my left shoulder, banded 7/14. I don't have a bad taste either, maybe someone else will reply too. Good Luck

I did the full 3mile walk with Lesile S. this am and my afternoon walk, my 4 yr old son came alone. He walked /ran the route. I think he made me pick up my pace to keep up with him. Might have to take him along again, especially if it helpd him fall alseep quicker at night...

I walk with her every morning I only have time 2 do 2 miles and then after work, I walk in the neighborhood for 30min.

Thanks for all the post and the great ideas. I'm 3 wks post op today and I'm doing a walking tape in the mornings, 2mile in 3omin and I walk in the neighborhood in the evenings after work for another 30min. Hopefully next the soreness at the port site will be gone and I can start my Wii fit again.

I made myself walk after work today, I didn't feel like it. I had one of those days at work that I wanted to quit. But I came home cooked for the kids and had scramble eggs and cream of wheat for dinner and went for my walk. I am determine to make this work and It's only been 3 weeks and my body feels so much better. So as the say just but "one foot in front of the other" and soon your walk will be done.. While it works for me.

Hi! I was banaded July 14th. My port incision is still sore and I still have gas pains in my left shoulder from time to time. I went back to work after 12 days and I wished I had another week at home but I survivaed. I'm feeling more like myself now and I'm walking every day. I saw my doc on yesterday and was informent that I already have 4cc in my band. We I feel full I stop eating, this is my first week on pureed foods. I've prepared or bought regualr foods and chewed alot and took small bites. My doc said that was the best advice he could give me was to take small bites and chew while. He said if you take a regular bite or large bite and chew good it is still a large amount of food to pass through the band. Every day gets better...

I was banded on July 14th. I am still full liguid diet that started yesterday. It takes all day to get one protein shake down. I am full on one popcicle and almost stuffed on a cup of jello. I didn't have alot of gas pain but today did experience some gas in my left shoulder. It hurts to sit too long and I have a nice bruise at my port site. Otherwise I think I'm doing well.
