I had my lap band surgery on february 15, 2010. I have lost over 30 lbs so far. My surgery went very well and my total recovery time was approximately two weeks. I had residual shoulder pain due to having had a hiatal hernia repair in addition to the lap band. My doctor, Dr. Sanakaralingam covered all basis and made sure everything was done right the first time. I am very thankful to him. I started walking 2 miles a day and I bought myself an ab circle to work my flabby belly. Emotionally though, I struggle with depression and anxiety. I have had a hand full of binging episodes since surgery. Big Time No No! It is hard to break this eating issue I've had all my life. I am working with a physcologist to help me overcome my food issues. I also take medications for depression and anxiety. Most days are still a struggle for me.Still, I am happy with my decision to have lap band surgery. I have been a yo yo dieter all my life. Each time I would lose the weight, I would end up regaining it, plus more. I was at 290 lbs when I decides enough was enough. When I found out my insurance would cover the surgery, I went for it. I feel like if I didn't do the surgery, I would still be eating out of control and would have continued gaining weight. Obesity and diabetes run in my family. I had this surgery for my health. I want to be here to see my children grow up. My weight loss has been at a fluctuating 2-3 lb range stand still, due to my poor eating habits as of lately. I started at 290 and now I am bouncing back and forth around 253 - 255 lbs. I realize beating myself up emotionally is not helping. I will continue to push forward with the help of doctors, friends and family. I know I just have to believe that I can do this and not give up.This is the first time I have visited this website. I decided to sign up after reading a few inspirational blogs. I know there are others out there going through the same challenges. I need this for accountability, support and encouragement. I thank everyone involved in my journey. I appreciate any and all positive feedback. I pray for the best for everyone going throught this journey as well.God Bless,Misty tackmomma
