  1. I was banded in April, 2010. I have lost 110 pounds, and am happy with my weight right now. My band was loosened about two months ago, and my eating has normalized (I was vomiting 4-5 times a day when my band was too tight). Now, however, whenever I eat too much or too fast, I get a horrible wheeze that sounds like advanced asthma, and my voice gets a weird strangling sound to it. I usually have to violently burp to feel better, and sometimes even that doesn't work. Any ideas?
  2. Happy 63rd Birthday stemial1!

  3. I am a 63-year old woman who had lap-band surgery 3 years ago. After my last fill, my ability to eat has been drastically altered. At this point, there are days I can eat barely anything, and I throw up multiple times a day. I am seeing the doctor next week, but he seems to be hesitant about loosening my band. I now weight 106 lbs, down from my high of 238 when I was banded. Does anybody have any advice about how to talk to the M.D. about loosening my band? I feel weak and am very unhappy about not being able to eat anything normally. I just want to get to the point where I can eat small portions of healthy foods. Isn't that what the band is supposed to do?

Banded 3 + years and frustrated

I was banded in April 2010, and am also having a slow go of it. I lost 30 lbs., then started gaining it back! In March of this year, I joined Weight Watchers, believe it or not, and the combination of the band and the support group/structured program is working, but very slowly. Maybe something like this can work for you. I thought the band would be enough, but it isn't, at least not for me. Good luck, and give this some thought.
  6. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm thinking that there may be a connection with my poor hydration; I just can't seem to have an urge to drink, and I keep forgetting. I made an appointment to see the dr. again and check with him. Again, thanks!
  7. I am almost six weeks post-op. I still have pain and heaviness in my legs, especially when I walk up steps. I mentioned it to my surgeon, but he doesn't seem very concerned. Does anybody else have this problem?
