I am still seeing post about what you should be eating, how much you should be eating, why am I not losing weight, why does this hurt and why does that hurt. One thing that should be clear when you leave your doctors office either pre op or post op, you should have a list of foods you may eat. You should have been told exactly what to expect after your surgery and during the pre op phase. If you are not sure of these things then you need to schedule an appointment to see your doctor. I can not believe so many would have this kind of surgery and still be asking what you should be eating and what you should not be eating. In the pre op stage if your doctor or nutritionist has not gone over these things with you then you should ask or find another doctor. When I left my meeting right before my surgery in my hand (which was also gone over with us by the dietician) was a list of foods to eat and at what stage. A prescription for pain medications and nausea medication. I had times when I could start exercising and how much I was to eat in a day. The only way that they lap band is going to work for you is to have every piece of information from your doctor available at your finger tips. Every doctor is different in what they want you to eat so asking us if you can eat something is like asking can you remove your sutures. If you are afraid to ask your doctor questions then why have your insurance pay him or if you are self pay why hand over 16,000 dollars or more. He is getting paid to give you what you need to be successful in this journey. Not everyone loses weight the same and if you want or expect to drop 100 pounds in a few months that is unrealistic. Yes others have lost more then you but it does not mean you are doing anything wrong. It just means your body is not going to lose it fast. If someone weighs 400lbs and you weigh 250 they will lose faster then you. If you are having any kind of pain call your doctor it could be something serious. I think if you are unsure of what you are doing then your doctor should be the one guiding you .

happy55 reacted to Duhs9919 for a blog entry, I've Made It To Oz... Surgery Tomorrow!!!
Friday I had one of the most stressful days in a long time and a mini melt down. I had a lot of loose ends to tie up at work and it just seemed like every time I got one thing handled another thing popped up. I thought there was no way I was going to be able to take a week off from work without the world ending. But a good work friend talked me off the ledge and told me it would be fine. I made a list of things to do and instructions to leave, the last of which I plan on implementing in the morning. Payroll is due tomorrow I have a lot of it done but I will be going in tomorrow morning to complete the last of it. I plan on being out of the office no later than 0900. We will see if that happens.
I managed to stick to my diet all weekend to a T! I even had only fish or chicken. I was in Dallas where Taco Bueno is, my favorite place, I nearly had myself talked into having a bean burrito but I stuck to my guns and had a shake!! I am officially down 16 lbs for surgery. And if that isn't enough of the dietician then I don't know what else to tell her. I can honestly say I have done everything I can possibly do to make sure my liver is tiny for surgery tomorrow. So if he opens me up and its huge I don't know what else I could have done. No regrets. Zero.
So tomorrow is the big day... I don't have a lot to say, because I am really kinda nervous and I am really kinda worried I wont finish everything at work. And I'll be late and then I will miss surgery. LOL. No, can't happen. I will be there on time and have the surgery and wake up with the lap band and start my new journey. I have followed the yellow brick road, survived the wicked witch and her flying monkey's (taco bueno), and have finally reached OZ. I am ready to see the man behind the curtain!
Wish me luck,
Until tomorrow,
Amanda

One year and a day I went to have my lap band surgery, I remember being scared and not really know what my future was going to be like. Before i got started my heaviest was 301lbs. I still dont think that i have ever said that out load but there it is. The day of surgery i weighted a good 295lbs, i wore a pant size of 20 shirts where XXXL, bra 44C, underwear 18s, Sweat pants XXL, and wedding ring was a 10 1/2. Today with all my ups and downs i weigh a 185lbs, pants size 11 to 10, shirts Large, bra 38 B, underwear M, sweat pants M wedding ring i finally got sized 8. So was it worth it? HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!! For once i am proud of myself and i might now look skinny as some but to me i am beautiful.
I have to admit there are things that i thought i wouldn't ever get to do again like eat at out, eat food that was yummy, drink a soda every now and then, have a drink with friends, things like that but it turns out i can. I am not limited i just know what i can and cant do and what i should and shouldn't do i know that everything has a consequence and i also know that i am fine with that. I love my band and if it wasn't for me asking for the help i would still be where i was before. Afraid of life not really living life because i let my weight hold me back. Now nothing can hold me back! Thanks lap band for getting me this far and thanks to my family, friends, doctors, and everyone else who has been there this year, without all of them i wouldn't be where i am today!

happy55 got a reaction from mykdzmom for a blog entry, Time To Get Real
I've been banded now come December 18, 4 years and I have not taken my band seriously. It's been a yoyo for me. Had fills ...to tight! unfill... to loose! Put a little bit in at a time and still not right!! I'm tired...just plain tired.
I realized hey; IM THE ONE THATS GOT TO MAKE THIS WORK!!! Ihave open my eyes to a lot of thigs just this week. So anyway, here goes;
1. I joined a gym today.
2. Bought some high protein stuff.
3. And today...I take my life back and get REAL!!!!
