Buggie1369 started following My Life as a Bandster, On The Fence..... Band or Sleeve?, pay for surgery and and 6 others
-
I had my band done through slimband, and it has been a pretty good experience. I'm from alberta, so i get my fills done in calgary- slimband calls and does some follow-up and then i call the fill clinic and set up a time that works for me. Dr.Cyriac did my surgery and he did a pretty good job.

I have only had trouble eating after a fill... you just have to take it slow. The whole point of the band is to eat less and chew your food. It takes some time to know when you're full. I eat out a lot, and I normally order the kids meal because it's smaller. It takes some time to figure it out, but once you do it will be good. I've had the band for a few months and I'm still adjusting- but I can still have a social life too. Definatly discuss your concerns with the doctor. So far the band experience has been pretty good.

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/how-get-ticker-your-signature-16218/ this is the link to the thread that I was talking about for your ticker... I found it helpful
-
Great job being down 20 lbs! go to tickerfactory.com then it walks you through step by step on setting up your ticker. Once you're done it will give you a URL to copy and paste into your signature on this forum. When you need to update your ticker, you just double click on it and it takes you to a page to update it. I know there is a better thread on this forum for getting your ticker uploaded... when I find it I will let you know

Ranch... I didn't even think about that! I'm really excited about being able to have a salad tomorrow... start of the solid food phase! I never thought I would be excited about salad :grouphug:
-
I love mayo! It makes things super mushy! Egg salad, tuna salad (that's all I've eaten with mayo so far) Each phase makes me feel more human... I can't wait until I can actually start introducing more solid food
-
This is an awesome thread! Thanks for posting the good stuff and the not so good stuff, I'm learning lots! Bandiva, July 26 will be here before you know it and then you will be back on track in no time! Cheers to you!
-
CJF... you can do this... the best advice I got was actually on this thread, from Bandiva - 1 hour at a time! July 13th will be here before you know it and then your new life will start! Thanks everyone for the support! So far this has been a really good step in my life!

So I took my steri strips off, and the insicions (?) are so small, I wil be suprised if I have a scar! I do have one that is about an inch, but that's the only big one! THANKS DR. CYRIAC! No giant scars for me... just wanted to brag a little
-
I'm finally on the full fluid phase... that was the longest 5 days ever! All I can think about is solid food... pizza, ribs, potato salad...I miss solid food
-
So I'm banded!!! YAY!!! Everything went well... feeling ok (kind of gassy) The folks at slimband were awesome! I'm just taking it easy, and looking forward to the full fluid phase now :scared2:

So the count down is on... tomorrow I fly to Toronto and then the next day I'm in for surgery, wow, time went really fast! I'm very nervous (I think just getting there is making me the most nervous), I am also really excited too! It's going to be an interesting journey with some really great benifits! YAY!

Thanks for the wonderful advice! I've been sticking to the pre-op pretty close (except I had to have some crackers last night, I had a monster of a headache from lack of carbs!) My husband has been awesome, he cooks things that I don't like, so I'm not really missing out on anything . Yesterday and today are definatly easier than the first day.

Day 1 of the start of my new life: So today is day 1 of my pre-op diet... I'm wondering how I will be able to live on yogurt and still stay sane for the next 10 days! I decided to get a slimband, because my mom has a LAP-BAND® and has seen great sucess (I think she has lost about 70Ibs, and has been able to maintain it for the last 3 years), also because I want to be in control of my life, and because of my family's medical history. I keep having these "what am I doing" and "isn't this a little extreme" thoughts, but at the same time I'm really excited about it (I can't wait to be able to control my eating!). I was so excited about it one day that I told 3 of my co-workers, 2 of them were like ok, whatever... and one of them is now watching me like a hawk, great:unsure:. Most people have been supportive, my mom, my husband, a few close friends. So far the journey with slimband has been a fairly smooth one, and the folks there have been awesome. Good Luck to everyone!
