    timeline for fills?

I am just wondering what other people have encountered with their surgeons timelines for filling? My surgeon is an aggressive filler, starting at 2 weeks post-op. Since insurance tends to only pay for the first 3 fills, he likes to start sooner and his goal is to get the first 30lbs off with those first 3 fills. I'd like to hear how other folks have dealt with their fills. My first one is next Thursday and I'm 8 days post-op today-down 11 pounds.

    Words cut like a knife

My mom wasn't at all thrilled about me having the surgery (I'm 45, btw) but my sister reminded my mom she was the one who my whole life told me I was "built like" my aunt, who weighed in at at least 250 and died from diabetes complications when she was in her 60's. I was diagnosed with diabetes 10 months ago. I've given up caring what people think, even those who said I didn't need it (BMI 36). This is my life and I'm doing it for me!

    right shoulder pain ?

Mine was intense the first day, but got better every day. It's from the CO2 used to fill up your abdomen which travels through your diaphragm and settles in your shoulders. It turned into just an achy feeling around day 4 and was gone by day 7.

    My journey begins

I know there are different pre-op diets and I didn't think mine was so bad. Starting 2 weeks before surgery, my daily intake was this: protein shake 3 times a day made with 1/4 cup frozen berries, scoop of protein powder, 5 grams of fiber and 8 oz. skim milk. Gotta have a Magic Bullet for these shakes. I would sometimes only use 4oz. milk and could eat it with a spoon. Crystal Lite makes a water add-in that has 5 grams of fiber called "hunger satisfaction" in strawberry-banana. That can go in your shake or in your water. I also had two snacks between the shakes: one was a piece of fruit, the other was a green salad with <50cal dressing. I shifted to clear liquids only the day before my surgery.

    My journey begins

I'd like to introduce myself to this LAP-BAND®® world. I work as a nurse in the O.R. at a hospital that is ranked as a Bariatric Center for Excellence. I've been trying to have this surgery for about 2 years. June 2009 I was diagnosed with diabetes and was at my top weight of 235. About 4 months later my husband suddenly passed away, and my life changed forever. I was finally able to have my surgery 7 days ago. I weighed 205 on the morning of my surgery, bounced up to 209 the next day, but was down to 195 this morning. I can't imagine feeling any better than I do. I had extreme shoulder pain after my surgery and a bout of SubQ emphysema or "rice krispies" in my neck and shoulders which finally resolved. I've had a few hunger pains, but 4oz. of skim milk usually does the trick. My first fill will be next Thursday. Can't hardly wait!
