    Good weekend!

Fantastic weekend, good for you! I'm glad JAX and you are getting along so well LOL. Will you share? Hehehehe :-). Have a great night!

Why do people treat others differently when they are fat?

I had a horrible experience on a plane from Dallas to Orange County over Christmas last year. Since then I'm more sensitive to looks, whispers, conversations. There was a big show on TNT or CNN about America, Overweight. This guy who is the President of Cleveland Clinic said he would not hire an obese person -- cost him too much money, not as productive. Ouch.

    One month today....

Your post brought back memories for me. I was never heavy (even normal weight) until I left home for good after graduating from college. I still hide food when I'm at my mom's (OK that's once a year but I did it last year). I am so sorry about your not having your family's total support, but know we will be here to support you! You have a beautiful little girl, and think about all the great things you will be doing with and for her as she grows up -- including setting a GOOD example of eating and being healthy. Technically our mother's didn't do such a great job of that. My heart is with you! Take care!
  4. You definitely don't want to use anything until the dermabond has flaked off completely, and you have approval from your surgeon to move forward. My PA recommended A&D ointment and it works great! I just use it at night so I don't smell like a diaper rash baby at work lol. In the morning I use Vitamin E from Burts Bees and I love it. I'm 9 weeks out and the four little ones are not noticeable at all. The port scar isn't bad. It doesn't really matter anyways because I'm not showing anybody my belly, its just me. LOL. Good luck!

    This morning,

Nice! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I did a little walking this morning, but it wasn't light out yet and I got a little scared (for no good reason). Think I'll walk over to the tiny gym at the apartment and do the treadmill next time. Enjoy your day!

    Goal today: Stay focused!

Excellent post and excellent idea! Congratulations on your wonderful project, and good luck on the next phase! With your motivation and enthusiasm, this will be a breeze.

Hunger increases at the end of one year with the band! Take a Diet Pill?

I don't know as I'm a little later in the process, but my surgeon said the average bander loses 60-70% of their excess weight, so they must assume the rest doesn't happen? You are right, it doesn't make sense. Keep us updated? And good luck

    Good Morning Everyone

They will probably give you an elastic support band to wear for about a week after the surgery! Wear it! It helps with support as you walk. And I agree with seanamw -- walk as often as you can -- it "burns through" the gas! Best wishes to you and keep in touch............

    Losing my Hair!!!

I have fine hair anyways so I started taking herbal Biotin and using nioxin shampoo and conditioner about 2-3 weeks post surgery. I'm 9/10 weeks out now and I'm still "holding my own" on hair loss. I got the herbal liquid biotin on amazon.com. Also, I really take care to get at least 60gm of Protein and 60 oz of Water a day and take a multi Vitamin and Calcium. This is just replacing some of the Vitamins and minerals I gave up along with about 2000 calories a day of junk. Good luck to you!
  11. Someday we will get together and shop for 10s at Talbots! I love that store!!! I am so happy for all your success. Here's my new mantra: "when I grown down I wanna be like you!". Seriously! Have a blessed day!

Sunday, August 1, 2010....3 months, 5 days post op

I forget its August! Congratulations on the jeans! You are doing fantastic, and thank you so much for the motivation! I was going to cancel my trainer this morning, but I'm jumping on your bandwagon and making this a good week and a start to a great month! Thank you!!!

    support groups

Does your surgeon have any? Mine is in Brea and that drive would kill you lol. I'll check Monday with my friend who lives up there and let you know then. She had sleeve in January somewhere up there! Take care............
  15. Daisy, I got your message. I rolled up a piece of deli turkey meat and just sucked on it. Olives too. Didn't chew them until about 7-10 days out, but the flavor gave me tremendous energy, believe me! If your shoulder is hurting try a heating pad. And put it over your chest -- it helps! The other thing that seemed to help that feeling was sugar free popsicles! Take care and get to feeling better!!!

    The Fourth Fill

I like the support group aspect of it, but the rest I'm with you -- not great communication or organization. I'd schedule the fill for the earlier date and if you don't need it cancel it and leave it at the later date.

    almost 3 months post-op

Well you are doing fine! Give yourself a lot of credit -- Zumba every day?? That is a ton! A 20 to a 16 is a great accomplishment! Are you eating with the plan? Do you feel hungry a lot? I get another fill next Friday too, and I'm not at the sweet spot either but I lose at least 2 lbs a week every week. I feel like you do -- its my eating and my exercise so far. I can't wait until I'm in the sweet spot! It will be great once we get there because we've got the other components down already :-)

    vacation food has zero calories???

Isn't there a rule? Like "if a tree falls in the woods and there is no one around it doesn't make noise". New rule: "if you are on vacation food has no calories". I love it!!!

    Fill questions

I'm the other side of the spectrum. I had 4ccs in a 10cc band at surgery. 4 weeks later I got 1.5 (to 5.5) and last Monday I got 2.25 (to 7.25), only 9 weeks out. I don't need more; I might need a little out, but I'm riding the tide until Monday (2 weeks after fill). My surgeon told me its very individualized as to what amount of saline in the fill creates a "successful fill" or sweet spot -- when you can eat 1 c of food every 3-4 hours and not be hungry in between. I have Blue Cross HMO. I was told I get free fills for a year after surgery and then its $250. I've read on this forum that sometimes a sweet spot goes away and you need a fill or unfill after a month or so. I'm just going day by day and trying not to think about it so much :-). Good luck to you!
