It's the end of the world as we know it....and I feel fine!

I agree with Christie. Some days its a pain in the butt, other days you can see a smaller butt! All the best to both of you!

    HELP!!! Feeling a little hungry

Make sure you are getting your water in also. And you need to get comfortable with feeling a little hungry -- have to learn how to feel hungry, full, getting full..... all over again. I like sugar free jello, popsicles or pudding. Good luck! Keep up the good work..............

    How can this be???

I went in for my third fill Friday. I was definitely experiencing exactly what you describe, but with 7.25ccs in the band after two fills. I could eat, but slowly because things were getting stuck. Turns out I eat too slow! The PA told me to make sure I get the Protein and whatever else I can within 20 minutes. Otherwise food is starting to go through the pouch and I'm starting the process over. I mentioned everything seems to get stuck first bites. She recommended about 2 bites of applesauce or hot tea to "wake up" the band and then start with food. I started Saturday morning and seem to have success with this. Although I'm hungry before four hours, its at least closer to 3, 3 1/2 and I can't eat more than a cup of food anymore. Good luck to you!

    Updated pics

You are a crazy woman if you don't see any change! (Said in a supportive way). Your face is thinner, your legs and body look thinner! Thanks for the updates! I'm not doing pictures that often -- I'll do some at the end of August when my daughter is here to visit.

    Recovery time??

It all depends on the person and the job! You shouldn't plan to do any heavy lifting, and if you get tired you need to be able to rest a little. I took longer, but mostly because I have a very long commute to work (94 miles roundtrip) and I had time coming to me so I took it. Rest, relax and recover over the weekend. You should be fine! Take care, best wishes and keep in touch!

    Weigh In Day

OK, lost 4 lbs and that is moving from liquid to semi solid diet. Ever have that feeling when you are waking up that you are smaller, somehow? I felt that way when I got up today. I think my swelling is down somewhat and I'm passing liquids better. Kind of getting into the rhythm with eating and my blood pressure meds. I literally chew my two little pills, swallow a tiny bit of water to get them down, and then go work out for 45 mins on the elliptical. Then I drink water or whatever. Seems to make a big difference in the water pill doing its job. Doctor told me to try different ways of taking the pills, but there were no absorption studies one way or the other. Second trainer appointment this morning and then home to figure out some recipes for the week and get a shopping list together. I read on someone's post that they are more focused on the whole food/eating/cooking thing than before the surgery. Amen to that! It is a big focus of my day. I'll spend a lot of time on the weekends getting organized for the week. Being away from home 10-12 hours a day will mean I will have to be well-prepared at work. I'm very thankful for this forum, responses to blogs and posts, and for all the support. This is just too new, too big, too consuming not to have this great support! :bored:

    Too Many Scales

I weigh once a week, same time, same scale at Weight Watchers. I hid my scale in the garage the day after surgery and haven't looked back. On Monday I weighed at the doctor's office. Lost a pound since Saturday. Great! Started eating soft foods and I log them on dailyplate. Still around 800 cals - 1000 cals/day. Gassy tummy gone, swelling still there. Met with personal trainer first time yesterday. She didn't force me to weigh, I did. That was last night, with sneakers and full on workout clothes -- GAINED SIX LBS. So I cried for about 10 seconds in the locker room, washed my face and left it there. If I freak at this early date every time I get on a scale I'll never succeed, or if I do I will lose my mind and drive everyone around me crazy too. I'm sticking with a weigh in at Weight Watchers on Saturday mornings. My trainer will be good with it (what she will say no?) and I'll stop this stupid vicious roller coaster that is already running when the cars aren't even on it yet! Today is a busy work day from home, getting ready to go back to work Monday. I love LA Fitness, and I love my trainer. I love grilled fish and I love the fact that its another beautiful day. Good Friday :bored:

    Pool Party....

Sounds fun, and the food (exception friend's cookies) sounds really good and good for you. I'm sure there are days over 1000, but you work hard and there's no reason you can't enjoy yourself once in awhile :-). I think you did fantastic!

    Going back to work tomorrow

I have a pretty high-profile job and I stayed home for a couple weeks as well. I actually got my hair cut, colored and some new makeup before I went back. Its pretty late to do that Sunday afternoon, but try something new -- jewelry, eyeliner, hair back. It will make you feel good about you and that's important tomorrow. Oh, do you have any aloe gel for your burn? Try that (that would be Walgreens?) Get up a little earlier so you can take your time getting ready, and pace yourself if you get a little tired. Remember to pack your food and snacks and smile! People will be glad to see you back! Don't push yourself, and enjoy the day.

    The Journey Begins

You are going to need help and support along the way from him, you might want to consider telling him the day before. This is hard. Whatever you decide, whenever you tell whoever you tell, we will be there for you.

  18. My trainer's mom actually had lap band last year and he lives with her so it really helped! Here is my email: sandy.devine@cox.net. Send me an email if you want to try to email each other with info and "motivation". :-). Thank you for your wonderful note!

    excersize

When I got my surgery done a physical therapist came in and showed me some upper body (arm, chest, back) exercises I could do right away (couldn't do a lot of lower body for a couple weeks). Check with your doctor and see if you can do that. Maybe they could recommend some floor work (like sit ups or leg stretches) that don't impact your foot/boot either. Good luck and feel better!

Daily Life~ THINGS DON'T JUST HAPPEN!!!

Thank you Janet! Your insight is a blessing. God's peace, Sandy

    calorie counting works!

That was nice! I never really counted calories before the surgery despite many diets. Now I log everything I eat. Not telling myself I can't eat the onion rings, just eat smaller portions and watch myself. I'm glad you enjoyed your time and good luck with the next fill.

    "How Sweet It Is!"

Thank you for your great post! Gives me some motivation for today! Sometimes it feels like "the lap band might not have been the right decision" or "I'm not successful enough" and reading your post makes me realize it was all worth it!!

YESSSSSS! Can't Shop in Woman's World!!!

I'm still at 230, but today I went to Macy's because I have no casual pants to wear and I decided to check out the sales. I went up to the third floor at Macy's to Woman's World. My best friends work there (they are my best friends because my closet capers have paid their mortgages for years). My last jeans were 24s, so I pulled 18Ws knowing I'm close to that. I had a tearful moment in the dressing room when I pulled them on without unzipping them! One of the assistants knocked and asked if I needed anything. I opened the door and showed her the pants and she said "Honey you need to go down to Misses. We don't have anything to fit you up here.". I bought 18s. They are tight, but wearable. I'm having a moment or two today. Two months ago those 24's fit good. I packed the rest of the casual pants up to sell or give away. I AM DONE WITH LANE BRYANT. I AM DONE WITH AVENUE. I AM DONE WITH WOMAN"S WORLD. I've taken this surgery very seriously. I've worked out hard, and keep to meal plans (for the most part). I've embraced this with everything I have. Feeling better and being off blood pressure meds are one thing. But a pair of pants in Misses? PRICELESS.

    What should I do?

Try to relax and breathe. Remember your ability to breathe is not impacted by your band being tight. Try to breathe from your belly (deep breathing) not short shallow breaths. Put chapstick on your lips so you don't get too dry and start to lick them (using saliva you don't have right now). Warm water in tiny, tiny sips. Walk or keep upright. Best of luck; keep in touch.

    Going on vacation

Take me with you! LOL. There are a lot of things you can do on and off ship to get exercise. Classes, walking, dancing. Keep as busy as you can and remember to get your fluids in. Not the kind with umbrellas..... Have a great trip!
