It varies not only by insurance plan, but what her company will or won't cover. Once my packet was submitted to the insurance, it took them two days to approve me!!! Beachbunny- I have BCBS of GA too, Anthem, PPO and my qualifications were the same as yours. BMI over 40, nutrition, psych eval, and sleep study. My packet was submitted on 5/25 and I was approved on 5/27! Only need to pay for my 20% portion, but that won't exceed $1500. :> Pretty sweet!! Good luck to you!!!

I need some input from BTDT banders! My surgery is set for 6/29! My family is having a large reunion the weekend of 7/9. So that's 10 days out from surgery and I'm wondering if I'm going to be miserable the entire time; physically and emotionally. (not to mention it's going to be 500^ where it's being held!) Will I feel up to it?? What the heck will I be eating then since I doubt I'll be able to eat the food at the reunion. It's just aggravating not being able to predict how I'm going to be feeling and dealing with the whole food issue while being out of town for three days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! TIA!

Thank you for all the great advice! I took it to heart and decided, knowing myself, I should opt out of the reunion. It's a 5hr drive one way, with two little kids by myself, and getting used to my new way of life would be just asking for a meltdown!! I know how I am, and it just sounds like a bad idea all around. I told a few of my immediate family and they concur! haha Thanks for everything though. I did consider it, but those who thought I should postpone the surgery...ummm, ya, NO WAY! I've jumped through too many hoops to reach this goal and there is nothing, of my own doing, that is going to get in the way of surgery day!!

I'm right there with ya, sister!!! This is my last week of food and next Tuesday I start the exact same diet as you. I noticed you're in TX too. I wonder if we're seeing the same dr! :tongue2: When is your surgery? Mine is the 29th. I hear after the 3rd day it gets better. I wish they could just knock us out for a few days!! haha By this time next week, I'LL be starving and you'll already be a week into it...so I'll be coming to YOU for support!!! My condolences to you and your family. Many hugs to you. Thank you for sharing your story with us. As an overweight mom, my reasoning for getting the band is 98% for the benefit of my own children. Your story just confirms my decision. I'm sure your mom is very proud of you and will continue to shine through your accomplishments. :thumbup:

I'm already mourning food and I'm not even banded yet! How's that for being sad?!?! haha Claim Jumper is awesome so I totally feel your pain and I guess it's easy for me to give it up since there isn't one in Texas!! Just like the others told you, you might be able to still eat what you love, but you will quickly learn if you can tolerate it and how much. One of my first posts on here was about if I would be able to still eat mexican food after the band!! Thankfully most said I still could, so just like your sandwich, you just might be able to have a tiny portion of it someday! GL!!

Hi. I'd be glad to help you. Just find a ticker site that you like (I like Ticker Factory) and go ahead and set it up how you want it. Then copy the IMG code and come back here and see where it says "User CP" above? Click it and then select 'Edit Signature' (I think that's what it says) and there you paste the code. Do a preview, make sure it looks OK and then click save!! To add pics and such, I used Photobucket.com, upload my pics and then copy and paste the IMG code (it's the last choice) into your siggy. It's super easy once you do it a few times!! Hope that helps!

Hey thanks everyone!! I have the one daughter, who is 1, and then I have another who is 7. The lights of my life! I can't wait until I can crouch down on the floor to play with them and not feel like I need a forklift to get up! haha :thumbup: Robbie Lynn- Thanks for the note about the 4 days being enough, same to you, Rhonda. I'm hoping that's enough because with my baby, I'm just about out of vacation time and it's only May. :/

Hi Rhonda! Congrats on your weightloss so far! I'm new to the journey myself, and awaiting approval from my INS. How has the healing been, a week out from surgery? My surgery will be on a Tues and I plan on returning to my desk job on Monday. Is it possible?? Congrats again!

THANKS! I think a lot can happen with a positive attitude and it sounds like you have one! So, YES! It will work out great!! It does sound like you have a decent doctor who listened to his better judgement and decided not to risk infection. Some doctors may have gone ahead anyway, kwim?! If we're not August band-buds, then I hope we're at least summer band-buds!

My two cents. There is a reason you aren't together. Take that combined with the sentence that he won't be supportive and I say MOVE ON. He can still be a part of your child's life without having to have any imput on yours. Remember, this is for YOUR health and for your child to have a mom. Honestly, don't be surprised if he wants to be all supportive and lovey when you're all skinny. That's when you REALLY need to get over him and move on! :biggrin: Good luck!!

You're right, it isn't any of his business, and maybe I will second guess that one. I will let him know of a medical issue that needs to be addressed. That's the truth, isn't it?!?! I think my co-workers (ladies) would be supportive to my face, but then not be so nice behind my back. I don't know, they could surprise me. What we do have here is two severly obese people at work (we're talking like 450+ and 600+) and I think unfortunately they might get the spotlight focused on them to "go do what she did". Know what I mean? That's on them and I won't concern myself with their weight issues. I have my own to deal with! LOL

Well, it better be at least!! I got a call yesterday from the surgeon's office saying they were waiting for one peice of info from their in-house nutritionist and once they have that, they can submit to my INS. THANK YOU GAWD!! They said it takes 30 days to hear something back, but then when I asked if it REALLY takes that long, she said no, normally two weeks! My birthday is at the end of the month....wouldn't that be an AWESOME birthday present?!! I think so!! heehee Anyway, just wanted to shout my good news! (since I can't update my blog. Grrrrr)
