    "Skinny Bitch"

Hi Hello all skinny b****. Popping in to say hello. Banded July 26. Post-op week 2 progress:Status quo. weight loss to date 27 pounds. Ten prior to surgery for grand total of 37. Doc cleared me for gym today but no weights yet, plus cleared me so I can finally go somewhere and have some fun. I might head out to Hershey park next week with the family. I can get on the rides without worrying that I may have to forgo the ride because the harness may not close. I would always get on but it was a tight fit. My cardiologist saw me today and was happy with the results and said I looked great. I see doc in 4 weeks. My journey continues... Good luck to all. Lyd

    August 2011 Bandsters????

According to my dietician, fruit bars are a no-no. They have sugar. Sugar free pops for me. My post op diet is no sugar, no caffeine. Week 3, is puree, mushy, sugar-free, low fat yogurt-dan light and lively.

    August 2011 Bandsters????

I teach nursing so I have the summer off but my doctor would not clear me for work after three days if I had it done prior to being off. The usual time post-op is week to ten days.

    Post-op Challenges

Congratulations. You did well. It is all mind over body and mouth. I have been surrounded by food in the last week esp at the BBQ last night but I sat there sipping on Protein chocolate shake, or Water or crystal light. Everyone was stuffing their face. I was asked why I was not eating, I simply, smiled and said, "I am a strict weight loss regimen. I am doing great and do no wish to ruin it."
  11. Hello Fellow Banders, This evening I encountered my first challenges. I attended a meeting being held in an Italian restaurant. I arrived and sat at the table. I asked for Water to sip on. Before I left the house, I packed a 6 oz container light and lively low-fat yogurt, Protein shake and water. I had long travel time on bus then subway. The yogurt fills me up after two teaspoons. The rest of the board arrived and the waiter started taking orders. I looked through the menu looking for something that I could eat. Unfortunately nothing qualified. I asked for Soup. He said, minestrone, spnach soup and tortellini in chicken broth. I said broth minus the tortellini. He brings me soup with tortellini. I just had the broth minus the tortellin. I left a bowl of tortellini. Everyone ordered delicious dishes but it did not bother me. I am so committed to this diet and weight loss that I don't care if an entire turkey with trimmings is set down on table. I made myself a promise that I would stick to this regimen for six weeks and then continue watching what goes in my mouth. It has certainly changed me. I left the restaurant and was still full from my small bowl of broth. I had the rest of my Protein Shake to sip on my long ride home. It is all about willpower and walking away from temptation or ignoring it. I feel great since having the band put in. I am on a mission. I don't want to look back or be at the weight I was. My ankles were swelling up; always tired and wanting to nap. Now I am full of newfound energy. I stopped napping during the day. I go out walking until I am clear to return to the gym. I feel wonderful. Finally, it feels great to have people notice your loss. Fellow banders, hang in there. Be strong and brave. Lydia

  13. Banded on 7/26. Down 25 lb plus 10 prior to surgery on my own. No pre-op liquid diet required Total 35 I am on phase II full liquids for another week. I have been on this post-op. I have homemade broth [all chicken, veg get strained until it is only liquid]. I do not use can Soups, too much sodium. I drink Water, zero calorie lifewater, flavored, crystal light, sugar-free ice pops, Protein shakes with water or skim milk twice a day depending on the amt of protein per gram. It can get boring but I am doing fine with it. I have been around food in the past week from events and I stick to my guns. I don't need to be tasting bits and pieces of food. I did not subject myself to this surgery to cheat myself and end up in the hospital. My doctor is very strict and I like that because it keeps me on my toes; plus I am committed to this new lifestyle. A week from this Monday, I start puree, mushy foods so I am really looking forward to the change. Good luck to all.

JUST HAD 3 RD FILL .

If you do all the right things, the band will work with you. It is not a quick fix but a tool to help. I have friends much like many members on this forum that have lost 50, 60 and up to 100 pounds with banding. Remember, we are what we eat. We stick to a healthy program, keep away from binging, eating junk, emty calories, exercise, the pounds will come off. My dietician said, after surgery the weight comes off fast, such as in my case; then it slows to 3-4 per week then 2 per week then 1-2 per week. I go for my first fill in 6 weeks. Right now, on Tuesday it will be two weeks post-op. I will see my surgeon again on Wednesday since I saw her associate on Friday because she was away. Right now I am averaging about a pound a day so i am very happy with that. We cannot expect miracles overnight. Good luck to all.
  15. At Block Party/BBQ yesteday There was food all around me plus cakes/cookies and alcohol. I had my protein shakes, water, crystal light and broth that I packed. I survived it from 4-11p
