Question for those who been banded for awhile...
kellyjoiii replied to Anume 937's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I haven't seen my original surgeon (Miami) in over two years. My replacement (South Carolina) was SO much different from my original. He would do any fill, told me to go on no BRPP (bread rice pasta potatoes-quinoa and so much more was a nono also) and I felt like I failed every time I slipped something in my mouth. I lost 90 lbs doing it the first time without this second guy.....OK, I'm getting off topic......STRAWS were a no no as well as CHEWING GUM. I need to make an appointment to see my new doctor (Houston, TX) and see how he is -

See, this is what I am talking about this support! Kris150, while reading your post, I got chills. It's amazing to connect to someone in the same boat (and I am aware there are so many of us). My chills were from your very last comment. The guilt trip. The guilt is the worst, and when it is so engrained in your head, and heart....it's hard to let it go. Which brings me to my title. Failure.....I know I am not a failure, but when you are continually picking yourself up after "breaking" your resolve to do something, it gets a little tiring. THAT BEING SAID, I will be a cheerleader for us all...(all of those psych classes in college bring out the counselor in me ) continually picking yourself up from "falling" is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. It shows that we are not failures, but actually fighters. Fight on my friends, because you have shown me what it is that helped me make my decisions in the first place. Strength! I now would like to know, what kind of eating plan, many of you follow. I always always always go back to low carb. Which I am following now. I almost exist on dairy ALONE...cheese is a big part of my diet, so no paleo for me. But I DO utilize ALOT of their recipes because they tend to be "low carb". My favorite snack/meal is thick cucumber rounds (about 10) patted dry, with cream cheese (2 tbs) a heavy sprinkle of Greek seasoning by Cavenders and sliced kalamata olives (9) on top.....mmmmmmm, I know what's for Breakfast (126 calories, 6 carbs-1 fiber=5 net, 3 protein) K

Thank you everyone! It's not how many times we fall, it's about how many times we get back up and dust ourselves off. It is a wonderful day, and I refuse to give in. Especially with such wonderful support like y'all. We can do this!!

So, it's been 3 years since I got my band. I started at 249.5 and today weighed in at 190.5 (my lowest was 163) but from what I have seen and heard, almost everyone either levels out, or becomes complacent and gains some back. That's me, Mz. Complacently.....who is disgusted with herself. Today is a new day, and one to make better choices. I will get back to it, one better decision at a time, and stop being so hard on myself. I refuse to be a statistic. Thank you for listening

Wow, I think I could have written that post myself! Same thing happens to me. We all fall, it's just how fast we pick ourselves back up -

OMG! DO NOT PLAN ON LEAVING THE HOUSE FOR AT LEAST DAY ONE of the 5DPT. Ugh! -
I just started this today. I am a little nauseous...a little tired, but hopeful. glad to hear that others are doing it too!?!?!!

Stept04, It is something that veteran banders do to get back to basics. You should not be doing it until you are at least a year out. I started it today, but next Monday marks three years for me. I have never done it, but am before my husband comes home. We all fall off "the wagon" here and there...and so many of us learn to eat around our bands (e.g. slider foods, and junk food) and supposedly, it is. Reminder to utilize your tool and get back to eating the way we did/do at the beginning of our journey. THAT being said, I am SO glad for the first two days I was not planning on going far from home!!

Hi ladies! I need to come more often there are many more things I SHOULD do. I started the 5day pouch test today. I am. Horrible with sticking to things.......but alas, I WILL do this. I started at 187 this morning. We shall see. My husband comes home Friday, and I will then be on solid protein, that is day 5. I made an awesome broccoli cheese soup in my vitamix a few minutes ago. I swear nothing but junk food shrouds every show you may be watching. It is rather disgusting. We shall see how this test transpires the rest of the week. Good day y'all!
