I had spent two years researching lap band surgery before finally committing to same. I had my op on January 30th 2010 and was home the following day. I had no pain or need for painkillers and besides the fact that I felt uncomfortable due to swelling I had a very easy time healing. I had a large band fitted. My first fill was exactly 4 weeks post surgery and I had my second fill two weeks following that. I now have 6.5mls in my band and have virtually no restriction yet. I went from 111kg on day of my op to 106kg by my first fill and to date I have not lost anymore weight. I walk 5 miles per day and have a personal trainer 2 days per week. At the beginning I was so careful as to what I ate and to portion size but as time has gone on and I have felt no restriction I am not as careful as I should be. I am going for another fill on Friday, 9th April and am hoping that I will start to feel some restriction. Patience is not my strong point and I would so love to be feeling some restriction and to get my weight loss started.
