    Cardio

I workout 5x's a week. I do 45-60+mins of cardio on those days. If the weather is nice, on weekends I C5K. I have been trying to add strength training into the mix but because of a recurring pinched nerve I have been unsuccessful so far. I'm still trying though. I am striving towards, 60mins of cardio and 30 of curves style weight training.

    Extra skin after weight loss?

Im young, have good genes, I exercise, and I have follwed an intense moisturizing regime for 16 years. But I still have excess skin. I do believe the degree is less than what I would have if I were an RNYer or older, but there is no denying that I have it. Honestly, some extra skin is a given, even for young bandsters. The amount depends mainly on genes, body type, and amount of weight lost. For me, there has been a fair amount of "bounce back" but I still have some batwinging, saggy boobs, and loose thighs. But I have a firm round bum, no sagging there (thanx Mom). Ill take a little loose skin over my bulging preband firm skin anyday. Browse the Plastics board and you will see bandsters of all ages having extra skin removed.

    Pounds lost 1st year

I lost exactly 100lbs in my first year. Its been a little slow going since then, because of my fitness level and my new lower BMI. So I definately believe that the rate of weightloss correlates with your starting weight/BMI, age, and most certainly your gender. BUT what is most important is following a healthy diet, drink Water, and exercise. I still have 40 some odd pounds to lose before I am at my ideal goal but I am healthier and happier than I have ever been. I hope to reach it by 2nd band bday. Good luck with your journey!

    psychological counseling

Ditto! Therapy has saved my life and preserved my sanity during this transition as well as before being banded. The coping mechanisms Ive learned in therapy have made me more resilient when I fail and more grateful when I succeed. I wish you the best in your Quest for clarity on this banded journey.

Chocolate milk wins the Battle of the Sports Drinks

I am open to try this, I tend not to want to eat after a workout. So chocolate milk as an alternative to a protein shake is interesting. I wonder if it would work the same with skim milk. Fatted milk makes me gag.

    Yogurt?

I would suggest a thorough Google search. There are no sugar added" yogurts. But be aware that they all have naturally occurring sugars ie Lactose. Greek yogurt tends to be the least sweetened and is quite filling. Dannon Lite n Fit is another good one.

    16 Bean Soup Recipe

I just bought a slow cooker. Is there a way to do this in a slow cooker. Do you have to soak the beans?

    Healthy eating

Before i was banded I ate a relatively speaking healthy diet. No soda, red meat, fried foods etc. And the band helped me take my good habits to the next level. But truth be told my soft spot Cookies and cakes come in healthy forms but none conducive to losing weight. Ive lost alot of weight with portion control from the band along with avoiding (for the most part) my weaknesses. However the "good foods" I ate like brown rice, doughy whole grain bread, and wheat Pasta are all out of the equation now. This has also helped. I think it is easier for someone with a healthful diet preband to lose weight post band. The fact is that it may be a stronger foundation towards a healthier lifestyle. Good Luck!

    Ladies only

Ask your practice's nurse. Its totally normal even to have surgery induce menstruation. So no worries, they are prepared for bleeders. :glare:

    Can't lose! Help!

It sounds like you may not taking in enough calories. Your body may be in starvation mode. Where you wont lose a single lb because your body "thinks" it needs to store every calorie it can. Some people have had success with upping their caloric intake on 1 or more days a week. Try drinking an extra protein shake a day.
  18. LOL! I reshape mine daily. But its going.

Things You've Done Since Losing Weight

Rode EVERY roller coaster at Dorney Park Shop at Banana Republic Got my BA Become a gymrat Inspired those close to me towards a healthy life Learned to flirt
  20. You look fantastic! I just saw your B&A... super fantastic!. You are doing a great job. I literally dream about being a size 12. Cant wait to get my own hot red dress. Kudos!

  21. From my experience, people have generally gotten nicer. But so have I and that my be part of it. However, dont expect everyone to be happy with your new look. I have experienced my fair share of hate re: my weight loss. Mostly from those close to me. Surprising...I know! Footballmom is absolutely correct IMHO. people have to come to terms not piting you in their heads. Its an internal struggle for many people. Make no mistake about it. I hate to make it sound so bleak. If you losing weight ruins somebody else's day, its just their superiorty complex crumbling.

    Calorie Tracker

Sparkpeople.com is my favorite. I tried fitday and dailyplate but didnt really take to either. Journaling is hard for me. I like the utilitarian, community, and merit focused interface of sparkpeople. In addition to the fitness, nutrition, and weight trackers, there are user specified goal trackers, forums, message boards, and groups, fitness videos, a youtube channel, expert chats and blogs. Its definately full service/all inclusive and best of all FREE. Oh and trophies!
