  1. I'm pretty good at leaving a large amount on my plate, like the other half of a sandwich, but when it is just one or two bites, I can't leave them alone!! It is pitiful  Then 10 minutes later I'm rushing to the bathroom and it is all wasted anyway!! That is what I need to keep in mind: I can throw it AWAY now, or throw it UP in ten minutes!!
  2. I'm 8 weeks out of surgery and have lost less than 1 pound a week . I guess I need to exercise more!!
  3. my first stuck experience was with raw baby carrots  no longer a favorite of mine The size on an eraser seems very small, but if you actually do it, it makes a big difference and you can eat a whole meal without rushing to the bathroom! Along with chewing, be sure to pause (put down your fork!!!) between bites. This is especially hard for me when I first sit down to start eating since I am feeling rather hungry and the food looks yummy!

    Scheduled massage

    purses and shoes!!
  5. Don't worry about it. You are still in the healing stage. I'm 8 weeks post op and you've lost a lot more than me.

    One week post op

malt-o-meal with cheese is my favorite!! no food processor needed, very easy to digest, lots of protein, hot and healthy! :blushing:
  7. Just wanted to share that tonight was one of those nights that I was really glad to be banded! Me and some friends went to watch the UFC fights and usually I eat and eat through the whole 4 hours. Shrimp, fries, chips, wings, dessert... I usually end up so overstuffed it hurts!! Well, tonight was the first UFC I'd gone out to after being banded, and I could hardly eat anything! I really enjoyed it! I munched at the appetizers, just like everyone else at the table, I wasn't scarfing them down and then ordering more! I feel so good to not be controlled by food anymore! I also know that I did not set myself back a week on my weight loss! Yes, maybe a day because of the fried food, but that's do-able! Anyway, just wanted to share...
  8. I just had to burp a lot to get rid of it. Try walking around to move it around...
  9. Try changing up your exercise instead
  10. I see a lot of people commenting stuff like, "wow, that sounds interesting, but I wouldn't know because I'm XX days away from surgery". I'm just wondering why these people are trolling the post-ops section. I come here to get advice and observations from those experienced with lap-band, but instead have to wade through comments like that which give zero useful info. I know many will think this is just mean, and maybe it is, but I have to point that out because it is SO frustrating.

    Vitamins...

In comparing the labels between Bariatric Advantage's VitaBand and Centrum Chewable multivitamin/multimineral this is what I have found: If you chew 2 Centrum tablets, you will be getting everything Vitaband has (plus a few more vitamins/minerals) with the exception of Biotin and Selenium. Centrum had little or none of these. It is also lacking in some of the B Vitamins, but I take the Bariatric Advantage B complex small tablets. Bariatric Advantage Calcium is virtually identical to the chewable Viactive.

    Vitamins...

I would take the Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamens, and lozenge Calcium. Except they are the nastiest things I've ever tasted!! Seriously. Gross. If anyone wants a very cheap price on mostly full bottles of cinnamon calcuim "lozenges" and chewable wild berry vitamens just email me at sekinj@yahoo.com. Brand name Bariatric Advantage. DFW area prefered... :w00t:
  13. My doctor has me come in every month for a check-up, and we just do a fill if it's necessary. Like previously mentioned, I decide to fill or not to fill, the doc decides on how much.
  14. I actually think you might consider getting a new doctor. I just got my 3rd fill today, which ended up being only .5 cc, but I already have 7cc in my band. Surgery: 8/30/10 - 0cc 1st Fill: 9/29/10 - 5cc 2nd Fill: 10/13/10 - 7cc 3rd Fill: 10/21/10 - 7.5cc My doc said to come back the first week of Nov if that is not enough. He wouldn't do the first fill until 4 weeks after surgery, but after that he is aggressive with the fills in order to get me to a good spot where I'm eating less than 1 cup. He also REALLY stresses the exercise. He asks me about it every time I come in, and I get in trouble if I am doing less than 6 days a week! I'm at 30 mins per day now, but he wants me to be doing 1 hour a day next year. My doctor does lap-band almost exclusively and has been doing it for about 10 years. He did my surgery and does all my fills personally. I am really happy with his helpful, informative attitude!! :wink2: I wish everyone could have the same experience with their docs!!
  15. tylee: what were you doing to lose a pound a day? I'd like to try some new things, but I want to keep it healthy too!
  16. Sometimes I think people forget to look at their own signature. It looks like you lost almost 40 pounds so far!! I don't know from when you are counting, but that seems like quite an accomplishment to me! I've also found it very helpful to not try to see how much I can eat, but to rather see how little I can eat. If I get hungry 30 minutes later, or 1 hr later... I Eat!! You can always eat a little bit more, but it's unhealthy to be vomiting to purge when you've eaten too much! I know it can seem very slow at times, but just remember where you came from, and how you used to look compared to now! You've come a long way!!:wink2:
  17. Hey, I got my surgery 7 wks ago. I healed up and got my first fill at 4 weeks, then went back 2 wks later since it was not tight enough. For about 2 days after the second fill I could not keep anything but about two bites down. I just "spat up" (no real stomach acid, just stuck in my throat). Then half way through the third day I was able to eat a little more, but then really threw up for the first time. Ever since that I've been able to eat about 1.5 cup of food, and have not had any problems with it getting stuck. Could I have I damaged/loosened something when I threw up? Any advice from the more experienced would be appreciated!

    band loosened?

Yeah!! Now I know! Not likely to forget again either! I'm doing fine now, and feeling great! Thanks for asking! :w00t:
  19. I don't understand why some doctor's make you wait a long time between fills. I had a fill on the 13th, but it wasn't enough so I'm getting another one tomorrow. My doctor wants me to get to the right adjustment as quickly as possible.

    Vitamin Water Zero

I like the FUZE slenderize. Lots of flavors and only 5 to 10 calories per serving. My bariatric dietician said anything less than 30 calories per serving was fine. but I just drink them if I'm in public and want something flavorful.
  21. My doctor says 48 hours on liquids, then I can slowly introduce solids, chewing well. I didn't understand this on my previous fill, so I tried going to right to solids immediately. I just threw up everything I ate for 2 days. I could only get two bites down. Then it settled down and could eat about a cup and a half, so I'm getting another fill. This time I will be sure to have only liquids for 48 hours!!

    band loosened?

Hey, I called in and the nurse thought that I was probably having problems because I was not on liquids long enough after my fill. I'm supposed to do full liquids for 48 hours after my fill and only then try solids. I'll be sure to do that next time...
  23. If you keep up that average you will be at your goal weight by April. You will be skinny in time for summer!!
  24. I'm not really sure why there is a question... If everything is going fine currently, and you are losing at least 1 to 2 lbs a week, feeling comfortably satisfied, why would you fill? Sounds like you are doing fine. Are you feeling pressure to change things up??

    Protein Shake Advice

I like the EAS AdvantEdge shakes. They have 17g of Protein, are low carb and come in vanilla, strawberry and two different chocolates. I also drink the Nature's Best Isopure Zero Carb clear protein. This has 40 g of protein per 20 oz bottle. They are not the best tasting, but they are clear protein so you can drink them straight from the hospital. In fact, that is what the hospital gave me to drink after ward. I like these for right after my fills and everything. :w00t: I get this variety pack from gnc: Nature's Best
