YES! im on the preop have been since last tuesday. My dr asks we do a two week diet...and lemme tell you that every second is like an hour. This next week of surgery is going to be FOREVER!!!! but i am soooo ready for it...lil nervous..but never been this excited about anything ever in my life! What a new start!

Excited! Excited! Excited! I am due to be banded on OCT. 5th!!!!! Cannot wait...only about a week away. This preop diet has been very difficult ...but after a week on it...its gotten easier. Good luck to you all...and I hope we can all have a wonderful, life changing experience!

Congrats on surgery tommorrow Trish!! I think we should really keep in touch. We have almost the same BMI and my surgery is Oct 5th. Due to a lower bmi it has been hard to get my insurance to approve my surgery ...but finally after all this time...it is really happening. I cannot tell you how excited i am for the future. Ive just started my liquids yesterday...its not esy but will be worth it i know. Good luck tommorow. please let me know how everything goes.

Contratulations!!!! I am FINALLY getting banded OCT. 5th. This is day 2 of my liquids and its hard but im not gonna complain. It is worth it...im sticking to it because i know its worth the work and will also make for a safer surgery! Good luck all of you on this journey!

Hi my name is REbecca. I have a BMI of 37 with high cholesterol, Gerd, Anxiety, and Depression. I know that my insurance does not require a 6 month preop. I have already been to the seminar and meet with my surgeon tommorrow. My issue is that I do not have proof that ive been above 35 BMI for the past five years. I have been up and down and all around. If i go back 9 years i had a BMI of 39 but then lost and gained lost and gained. Has anyone had this issue and if so what was the outcome of insurance approval?? Any input would be great. Im really nervous about this whole approval process.

I dont think that any Dr. in the US will do lapband if your bmi is below 35. Lapband.com has specific requirements for you to get the lapband. I know that lots of Dr.s in Mexico will do the band if your BMi is less than 35. Good luck to you! hope you find a dr.

I want to be a runner too!!! I am still waiting for a surgery date as of right now and cant wait!! I was also pretty athletic growing up , cheerleader and softball player. Never ran though! But I D-R-E-A-M of being a runner and running a 5k 10k and half marathon. My brother and his fiance are big runners and they say the feeling you get when you complete one of these is the MOST amazing and gratifying feeling you can ever experience. Hello I am from southern illinois!! There is a new Dr. in town Dr. Sidney Rohrschieb out of Crossroads hospital in Mt. vernon. He has offices in Clinton Champaign and Chicago. He is part of the Illinois Bariatric Center...and hes AWESOME. If you need more info just message me. good luck

Congrats on your decision! I just told my family after I started the process and theyve all been pretty much supportive. I know it can be hard for some but we are very close so it wasnt an issue. LapBands done in the United States have certain requirements on BMI. I believe its as follows. 100 or more overweight. A BMI over 40 or a BMI of at least 35 with weight related health conditions (co-morbities) I have insurance and my BMI is a 36 and I qualify for the band. Good luck to you. Well let me start off by congratulating you on making the decision to do something about your weight. I am still preop and am due to have surgery soon. I have done an emense amount of research on both of these surgeries. I have decided to go with the lapband for so many reasons. Now, this is strictly my opinion so here goes. My Dr. reserves Gastric sleeve for super obese patients, which I am not. Gastric Sleeve is a fairly new procedure and a lot is not known about long term effects. I dont not have a tremendous amount of weight to lose so the band seems perfect for me. The surgery is done laproscopicall y and is the least invasive and least dangerous and easiest recovery of all the procedures. It is the only reversible procedure. It is adjustable to suit your needs. No cutting or removing of part of the stomach. These are all the reasons I decided to go with the band. I know that the band does have issues but all these pros for me make my decision easy. Best of luck to you and I hope you find out what the best surgery is for you~:thumbup:

I do not believe its normal to have to wait 3 months. It all depends on where you live and how mandy Dr.s are in the area. I had to wait 1 week for my appt. and my Dr. is very well known surgeon. I would explore some other options and check out other surgeons in the area. It definitely would not hurt anything.

My Dr.s office officially did not submit it until June 28th. Which I just found out about last friday. So who knows how long I will be waiting. I have BCBS FEderal. They are supposed to be quick from what i hear ....just saying a prayer! Hope you all hear something soon

Hi! Girl we have the same BMI and are pretty much the same age! AANNND I too am waiting on approval. My stuff was submitted over a week ago and I am sick everyday just waiting hoping and praying. I am so ready for this . My insurance covers at 100 percent and it doesnt require a preop diet or anything , seems pretty lax compared to some insurances. I have Federal Blue Cross and there is No better coverage than it. Its 100% all i pay is 100 to the hosp. and 100 dollars to the surgeon. I dont know if yours is the same. Good luck!!
