I don't have a story yet. I am a lifelong yoyo dieter. I gain and lose 50 to 60 pounds every two years or so. I am either on a diet or gaining weight; there is no middle ground for me.My last weight loss attempt was a medically supervised very low calorie diet (600 per day). I lost about 2 pounds a week, far less than most, even though I was compliant (this is my fourth or fifth attempt at this type of program, btw). I also found out during the course of the program that I have a resting energy expenditure rate of less than 7 calories a day per pound. So, for me to maintian a goal weight of 140 pounds, I get under 930 calories a day as a baseline. I found this extremely discouraging, The Doctor mentioned the lap band to me, and I was shocked since I thought one needed to be bigger than me to get one. She said there was a local doctor who was doing an informal study about the efficacy of the band with people like me--chronic yoyo dieters who are on the lower end of "obesity". I put the idea completely out my head until I gained all of my weight back. I have a co-worker who was banded in Mexico be Dr 'Ramos Kelly and has nothing but good things to say.So, am deciding wheter to do this surgery or not. I know that I will be unable to quality for insurance since by BMI is under 40, so my thought is having it done in Mexico.I would be interested in hearing from anyone else out there like me....Thanks
