I'm learning interesting things here. I had my first fill and it wasn't very filling, except in the morning. So I'm going hour by hour, sometimes struggling. When I'm quiet and eat slowly and chewchewchew, I feel some restriction. When I'm speedy I either ignore it or something.....but I don't feel any restriction. Anyway, I'm eating very imerfectly, especially around 3PM each day, but there's a bit of weight loss. I'm kind of glad there isn't more restriction yet because I'm learning alot. I'll call for an appt to get the fill, but I think I really needed this interim time.

I'll bet most of us have an eating disorder..... at least one. Must be trickier with bulemia, though. When I went for my first group consult before surgery, there was a woman there who was at normla weight and said she got there through bulemia. Said she wanted to get banded so she wouldn't gain weight, and then she wanted to stop binging and purging. The doctor went in with her individually and when she came out, as she left, she said "The doctor said NO." With Sharon Osbourne, seems like she'd want to treat the bulemia and NOT have the band removed so she doesn't balloon in weight. I guess every case takes some individual consideration. I didn't have to have a psych eval, which of course means that the doctor knew I was normal LOL! It really is individual by doctor too. With me, the focus was on whether I was having an active Lupus attack...if so, the surgery would have had to be postponed. Glad I waited until now to have one. Yuck. The good news is, I get to change my ticker! Lost 5 pounds since my first fill, and I have no idea how, since I only feel restriction in the morning!

We went to Quebec city for Christmas one year. Thought we were going to die of bitter cold and wind! But we had a great time. -

Too bad the whole middle east didn't decide to go the way of duBai and just spend money building neat things.... Then we could have blown all our money vacationing there instead of doing a war. -
Good news for today Thsi morning at a restaurant, I had 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast, and it took me as long to eat them as it took my husband to eat his sausage and cheese omelette, hash browns, and toast.

ok sMARTY pANTS oBERHASLI.... A KICK IN THE PANTS, EH? This chronically mildly depressed defeatest person is leaving this desk to go dance in front of my TV for half an hour. thanks.

Me too! This exercise trainer told me once that the key for me is NOT to stick to anything, and to keep changing it... Dance around the house one day, walk with the dogs the next, do a TV exercise show, etc. Belonging to the gym is not solution. I can make as many excused not to go there as I can not to exercise at home. So far, the only thing I've found that works, sort of, is to exercise 1st thing in the morning, before my brain can think up excuses. Roll out of bed and turn on an exercise channel on TV or drive to the gym half asleep in whatever clothes are close at hand. By the time I wake up, I'm done.

I think it's also about surrounding Iran by having a presence in Afghanistan and Iraq. Iran must be laughing..... -
That might get you over the hump with alot of this. If you did exercise, would it be at home or in a gym?
-
No problems with that. I don't much eat salt, so that may help. i'm having trouble not eating carbs from about 3PM on for the rest of the day! I'm thinking maybe I need to be at the gym at 3 everyday. Why is this so hard??? I feel better after the gym so I should want to go! Life is silly. Are you retaining fluid? How much are you exercising? I do 30 minutes at my target heart rate on the treadmill WHEN I go!

Halliburton lost money big time when Cheney ran it, but he got a huge bonus severence. He was put in charge of Halliburton, not to run it well, but because of the connections he had with politicians, so in the long run, it worked. Halliburton got those choice contracts in the Middle East, and Cheney sits in Washington overseeing them. Somebody had their eye on the long term ball at Halliburton! -
I know. Ha! I was watching Sharon Osbourne on Dr. Phil, and dshe was talking about lifetime wieght issues, bulemia, contemplating getting the band removed, and he said if she did what he said for 30 days, she'd never have food issues again. Makes me want to crawl through the TV and slap him! I know if I eat any carbs, my feeding frenzy kicks in. It's funny. I feel so good when I eat protein and veges, but I still go after those carbs anyway!

Prescription diet pills make me feel great! Until they stop working...... Over the counter diet pills just make me feel sort of sick. Maybe more exercise... I've been slacking off the last few days. My family is from KC Mo and Hutchinson KS. I never lived there, but both my parents and lots of my relatives do. I miss midwesterners.....

Get us a picture of your old pants and your new ones, and we'll sure notice the difference! We'll cheer you on. It's a funny thing. I'm at one of my plateaus where I always stop losing weight for awhile. I don't tknow if it's a physical or psychological barrier, but I'm going to try really hard to envision me weighing less, losing another 10 pounds, etc. Hard for me to do. I'm a natural skeptic when it comes to me and weight loss. But if not now, when? And if not me, who?
-
I was just thinking about diet pills this morning! hoodia actually. My big concern is that I always end up starving later and regain the weight..... no one noticed from a 24 to a 20!!!! and that's a huge drop! Maybe you need new friends! That's such an amazing success! Slippages and erosions scare me too. All I can figure is to stick as closely to the program as I can, know tha teveryone goofs up, and try to remember that the actual percentage of problems is amazingly small small small. I'm in the same position. I was self pay and the well is dry!

First Fill Advice: No restriction
Betsyjane replied to irwinlaura's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do I need my second fill? If I eat very slowly in the morning, I feel full after 6-8 oz. By lunch I don't feel the restriction, but if I don't chew chew chew, things get stuck and I slime or hurt....don't want to do that again! By 3PM I can eat anything. If I get a fill, how will I eat breakfast? Do I need a fill or just better behavior? -

Too bad we can't impeach him and get him out. We'd be left with Cheney! (sometimes my being a Houstonian is embarrassing.) -
Anyone else get a choice of a walkman or pedometer from Inamed?
Betsyjane replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the same thought! hope their bands are better than their pedometer! And no instructions with the pedometer/radio....but complicated enough to warrant them.
