TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY. OUR FIRST MEETING. OPEN TO BANDSTERS AND TO-BE-BANDSTERS! I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING ALL OF YOU AND HAVING A CHANCE TO RELAX TOGETHER. SEE YOU AT 5PM AT HUMBLE CITY CAFE ON MAIN STREET, RESERVED UNDER THE NAME OF "BANDSTERS". (IS ANYONE HAVING A BIRTHDAY-THE OWNER OF HUMBLE CITY CAFE SINGS A MEAN BARITONE HAPPY BIRTHDAY.......) -
What does this mean? I saw my 2nd fill on the fluoroscope, and there was definitely restriction on th epicture, but I don't feel any. They had me gulp down some water after, to make sure it went through, and they asked me if I felt the restriction. I never did. Same way with the first fill. How is it possible to see it, and not feel it???

Hey skinny Angela...Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

George Bush: Worst American president in history
Betsyjane replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
Humanitarian efforts don't give us the right to invade a country. I am TERRIBLY worried about Iran and a coalition with Venezuela or anyone else. I am very afraid of Iran's hatred. I also think that we become a target for hatred when we invade sovereign countries. North Korea arms in part because we are armed and pointing at them. We can then turn around and say they are the bad guys, and that escalates it another notch. I just think we have to look at the history instead of taking a snapshot of today, or we will just keep doing the same finger pointing back and forth across borders until somebody gets blown up in a much bigger way. I don't believe we can talk it out with suicide bombers, but I do think in many cases, diplomatic solutions are not as valued by our current leaders as is duking it out. -

My scare of the day is what flames will be fanned now that we are targeting Iranians.... -

If you had had a choice of giving Halliburton et al massive lucrative contracts, or bringing back the draft to do it all with the military, which would you choose? -
Whether or not your band is less restrictive has to do with your stomach size too. Have you studied to find out of putting more in at a time increases the chance of erosion? It's not that the technique is difficult, it's that we are paying people who have studied enough to know the nuances that can help us not have complications.

I want to reiterate what Richard just said. My fill people just went to a talk by the guy who brought lap band surgery to the USA, and he said the number one thing of all is to not drink during or for 1/2 hour after eating. He said you might as well not have had the surgery at all, for exactly the reason Richard said. My doctor says the second most imposrtant thing is to eat solid foods and get rid of mushies, softs, and liquids, so you get that full feeling. I'm saying a sad goodbye to the last of my Muscle Milk Light. Sniff. Ditto my cottage cheese. Sniff sniff.

Take it with a grain of salt, Jodi. It's just the classic young whippersnapper (experienced little, idealistic, think they know alot) versus geezer (experienced more, stubborn and jaded, think they know alot) debate. Add a particularly spicey topic, and it's a fun free for all. -

Ok. Let's go with that. How do you decide if the poll is an accurate representation? Let's say they matched people to have a truly representative sample. How did they determine the model? How did they determine what questions would serve the model? Or did they just ask the questions and whoever happened along answered them and they decided that was representative of the country? Could I replicate their finding in NYC? in BFE? -
Nurse did mine. She's had more practice.

Honest honest honest. I'm a scaredy cat about needles, and the fills are NOTHING. I don't have them use the numbing stuff either. It feels like getting a shot, and then you don't feel anything!!!! Honest. It's as quick as that video! My anxiety in the waiting room practically did me in...and then it was truly no big deal!

Here's another risk you're taking. without the fluoroscope, you are just guessing how much restriction you have, so you may be filling and unfilling quite a bit to get it right. Why put unnecessafy wear and tear on something that would have to be surgically replaced?????

How do you determine that data and facts are real? Research itself is skewed by the questions asked and the methods used. -

Poly Sci classes are much more important and reliable? :-) I remember my Poly Sci classes as being biased and as focusing on biased research, and I remember wondering if any of us, reporters, politicians, or the public, could ever be totally unbiased in real life. Luckily, I agreed with the bias of my classes so I enjoyed them. i also remember the issue about the AP using so many sources that if quoted, it was best to identify where the AP got its information. Didn't mean they weren't worth quoting in real life...just in Poli Sci class. -
So... I called the place where I got my fill this morning, and the person who answered the phones said I was only supposed to eat Soups. I told her I was told to only eat soft foods and not soups. (After a fill, Spiegel's people are to do liquids, and Spivak's people are to do soft foods). Then she said that no one is allowed to come back for at least 3 weeks. Then I spoke with the nurse who said I could come back any time after 24 hours. Sigh. Anyway, my plan is to do what I'm told and wait and see how the weekend goes. Double sigh.
-
I just went for my second fill this morning. After the first week after the first fill, I felt no restriction. Folks here said the first fill sometimes absorbs into the dry band. So I went for my second fill this morning, and none of the liquid from my first fill had been absorbed. They said the band was loose becase I had lost fat around my stomach. so they put in more fill. I didn't feel a restriction, but it showed up as good on the fluoroscope. I said it wasn't enough. they said it was. They had just come back from a lecture by the Dr. who brought this surgery to the USA, and he said you need a fill of you are "food-seeking" and when you leave after getting your fill, you should no longer be hungry. Well, I had my second fill a few hours ago, and I am hungry and feel no restriction. Sigh.

My guy said 2cc is too much for a first fill....Sigh.

There have actually been some very intelligent people who have recommended dividing Iraq, then having representatives from each area meet as a coalition advisory committee to a central government. Syria has said if that happens and the Kurds get anything, Syria will go to war in the region to stop that from happening. Turkey has said they will fight anyone getting a share besides the faction they support. Iran has hinted likewise...so the issue of dividing Iraq becomes one of causing even greater masses of people to be involved directly in the sectarian struggles. -
Hey fellow November newbies...I get my second fill tomorrow morning! Looking forward to restriction!

Yeah, that will work better when I have restriction! Right now if I go for those kinds of solid foods, I'll over eat them! But I'm getting fill #2 tomorrow, so I'll stock up on some of the things you mention. Tomorrow is a new day. Wish I could just buy one serving of each of those things instead of having a wheel of cheese, etc, sitting around! I guess it may even be time to say goodbye to my Protein powder that I've grown to love since being banded. it was great for mushy time, but probably doesn't do me a whit of good now in terms of fullness. Just adds calories... sniff. I'll miss my Muscle Milk Light! -

I'll keep everybody in my prayers...Americans and Iraqis....but I truly don't believe we should ever have been there. But we are. And I still don't understand what winning would mean, so I'm directionless about how to cheer us on. In my heart, I believe this will have been one of history's great blunders. -
Post Your Rant About the Infomercials for Weightloss Products!
Betsyjane replied to Lap_dancer's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The worst part is that they give the impression to the rest of the world that all of us should be able to do it with a little help from a pill or an exercise machine. That leads to some really uncomfortable talk shows where thin people tell fat people they can do it if they eat less/exercise more. It's gonna be a long time before THAT discrimination ends, or is even recognized.
