  1. Tai Chi is only Wednesdays, so Monday still works for me for getting together...... Humble or Atascocita. Congrats on your anniversary! What a huge difference in clothing size! I'll ask about the arm surgery, but I doubt if there's a deal. They're trying to pay for their new house in Memorial......
  2. Hmmm. I think I'll start next week. I just tried some twisty moves......and they weren't great....
  3. (Can you tell I'm back?...can't seem to condense my thoughts into a single posting.... Typical.) Anyway, if anyone needs a new chiro, I love this guy....and I think somewhere he has a $200 off deal if I refer you, and I get $25.....so let me know if you want me to dig up that discount card.....
  4. Oh, and the chiro's engaged to a woman who does plasic surgery on the loose skinned bellies of Spivak and Spiegel's lap band patients. Small world. (And who also recently went to Thailand and stayed in the same hotel I was in!)
  5. As of this morning, the Dr. says I can do Tai Chi. The inflammation in my back is gone and he says it won't hurt the work we're doing to repair the bones. So....unless I chicken out, I'm going to the May Center tonight. It's free for anyone who wants to go, and I just called and they said you don't have to sign up...just show up. Tai Chi QiGong is at 6:30 and Tai Chi Quan is at 7:30. I have no idea what the difference is. I'll go to the 6:30. I've now graduated to the chiropractor...whose assistant has had gastric bypass!

    November Bandsters!

Thanks for tletting us all know. I scurried around looking for how to prevent gallstones, and found a recommendation for fiber. Did the doctor tell you anything about prevention?
  7. Hi everyone. I haven't posted much lately, but I am still with you in spirit. When Lupus rains, it pours. I had to go on more meds for Lupus, and they weakened (further) my bones, so my last Tai Chi class resulted in a couple of cracked vertebrae and compressed disks. Add to that the usual Lupus symptoms, and I've been a whiney blob. Connective tissue pain and kidney malfunctions among the many symptoms.... Oddly, I'm sort of used to it, so I'm bouncing back pretty well...hence my trip with hubby and relatives to the opening of chocolata. Another few weeks, and I should be able to do exercise beyond a light stretching. I'm not moving, so I'm not losing weight, but not gaining either,so I'm content. I'm basically caring for dogs, resting, and firing up some summer jewelry---some diamond stack rings, a weird citrine and smoky quartz ring that I alone like, and some summer stuff in mixed aquamarine and light tanzanite. Just tinkering and putzing. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss exercise!!!!! I'll see you at the next dinner, and I'm looking forward to it!
  8. Chocolata sounded so good in the paper! IMO it was diappointing. The chocolate was bland. Most of the recipes hadn't been made...It was basically ice cream with toppings... There were too few people and not well trained, and the store was just that...a glorified ice cream store with a few places to sit down. I don't know what happened to all the other stuff in the paper, or the high powered design guys they listed.
  9. Cool! OK so let's figure I'm 1 week behind you and counting.....
  10. I don't get why people with MORE weight to lose are disqualifies. Makes no sense...... I guess in some ways I'm glad I was self pay... No pre op testing. Just surgery.
  11. Thanks for the tip! I just ordered it on ebay.

    Pain in ribs and back

Or if you are prone to osteoporosis, you might have messed up a disk a bit, in which case an ice pack is helpful. Hmm. guess it's time for a doctor. But my guess is the lap band isn't the problem....
  13. Er, we just went to the grand opening of Chocolata in The Woodlands. I'll start tomorrow.....

    Happy with Lap Band?

Happy with my band. Remember this site is for support, so you hear a dispropotionate amount of problems with the band. 97% of banded people are cruisin' and not posting much.
  15. I think I could join you except for my morning protein shake. Can I join in with that stipulation?
  16. Please copy and paste and add your favorites! Beach Body series Richard Simmons Walk Away the Pounds Jari Love ripped Cathe
  17. I do Tai Chi twice a week, and then a brief daily practice, and I belong to a gym and LOVE it when I go, but don't go often. I'm thinming if I do a DVD in the morning before I'm awake enough to talk myself out of it, then everything else that I do will be frosting on the cake!. My neice loaned me the Beach Body thigh workout, and it's amazing. I think I might get the whole series. No dance moves to feel klutzy with...just real exercise that you can do as easy or as hard as you are ready for. I really liked it!

    weight loss

I had pouch dilation. I had thought I needed another fill because I could eat a lot, but instead, my pouch had gotten bigger so I could stuff myself. I'm very restricted in the morning, and best guess is that even my Protein shake just sat too long in the pouch waiting to go on through and stretched the pouch every day. So I felt tlike I could eat anything with my big pouch. A few days of just liquids took care of it. And most folks also need a little less fill so their food can go down well. If you find that your fills are absorbing still, you might request Omnipack, with is a thicker fill that doesn't absorb or leak....
  19. Thanks for the info. Let's keep this thread going with great DVDs. I hear that the beach body videos are good too.
  20. I'm still incapacitated, but when I'm better, I'll do a class at May and preort back. If it's not as good as our guy, I'm definitely signing up for more with him. I really like him.......

    weight loss

Let's think about fills. Do you feel any restriction after? Are you getting a fluoroscope done? If so, and it is showing restriction, then ask them to compare the old and new pictures and see if you are dilating your pouch. I went through that and after we corrected it (easily), I had restriction. Let's also think about foods. Are you drinking your calories? Are you doing Proteins first? Of all the stuff you've read on this site, what is your critique of what you are doing well and wha needs improvement so far? Let's get to the bottom of this.... You're fine...just need some fine tuning somewhere.....

Ooops. I hit enter. Will continue in the next email.... Sorry.

    weight loss

Hi. Let's see. 9 pounds in 10 weeks means you're on the low side of normal. The goal is 1-2 pounds a week. So all is not lost. 3 fills in such a sort time is a bit unusual. But here are my thoughts.... first, you haven't failed and the band hasn't failed. You truly are on the low side of normal loss. So the goal is to increase it just a bit. And it does take some people as many as 7 fills to hit the sweet spot, so many it will just take you more. But let's sort through this...

    November Bandsters!

My guess is you are either overfilled and dilated....or you have leaked some Fluid out and may need omnipack. In either case, your Dr visit is a smart move, Tweet.... If you can't make it on liquids...and I certainly understand that....then you may end up doing better with a slight unfill to help shrink your pouch. You'll get it figured out. You job now is to NOT kick yourself! Vikki-I'll bet your food intake is a big part of it. Whenever I feel like I'm off track, having lied to myself about my food yet again!...I do a food log for 2 days, counting calories, fat grams, carbs, and Protein. I seem to need that reality check to keep my carbs and fat low and my protein high.
