We have been watchin them. I'm hoping I will be able to get off them before long. I have also been monitoring at home. It's running on the low side of norm. If I would get off my big ole tail and get some more exercise, all of it would come down more. Man, there's just not enough time in the day. I know yall know what I'm talking about. lisa

Hey everyone! I just have to tell yall this..... yesterday I had an appointment with my PCP for a refill on my BP meds. He did that lab that I fasted for (told ya he would) I called and guess what...... MY CHOLESTEROL LEVEL HAS FALLEN 54 POINTS IN ONE YEAR!!!!!! How's that for lap band PROS? Cool, huh. It was 186. I just about jumped thru the phone and gave that little nurse a sugar!! Although I haven't been able to get off the bp meds just yet, I was really happy with the cholesterol report. Now, here's my question....... What's YOURS??? lol Talk to everyone later, lisa

Hey yall. I feel pretty good this morning. Although I have an appointment with my PCP. He always wants us to come in fasting in case he "needs" to do lab. The only thing about that is I WANT COFFEE!!!! I get up at 430 to get The Man off to work and my appointment is at 830. All I can say is What a grouch! lol I guess yesterday was a false alarm. I never did get sick. I just felt bad all day. Had to go to school at lunch and get T. He just couldn't make it. Yall have a good day and stay in the..... you know. lisa
-
Right now (who knows 30 minutes from now) I feel ok. Just that nauseated feeling. I haven't thrown up yet, but it feels like it anytime. T is feeling much better this evening. No fever, no upset stomach. DH says his head hurts. I guess we are just a bunch of whimps around here today. Glo, glad to hear you are feeling good again. I personally think my frog got squished. It hasn't hopped in a while. Yall take care, talk to everyone later! lisa

Go, Shannon, Go! You'll be ready for spring and summer clothes before you know it. lisa

Morning everyone! Sad news.....the little guy has the stomach virus. He stayed home from school this morning. I feel like I'm getting it too. I sure don't wanna start that. My DH said he felt bad too. If we are gonna get it, I hope everyone has it and gets over it. How is every one this morning? Yall staying in the box? Remember to drink your water. I have had a hard time getting mine in since it's been cold. That much water is hard to do in the winter. Talk to yall later, k. Have a good day! lisa

Don't forget the Quaker Brand popcorn cakes (carmel flavor) with peanut butter on them. That's some gooooood eating for a snack. Susan, be careful at those dinners! Sounds almost tooooo tempting. lisa

Paula, call the office and tell them about the reflux. That is a sign of being too tight. It's cool that you haven't had a fill for so long. I haven't had one for almost 4 months myself. Since your ticker didn't show, how much have you lost??? I got on the scales this morning. I have lost two more than my ticker. Glo, glad to hear you are feeling better. Hey, Dawn! Way to go! Welcome to the losing side! lol Remember to walk and sip your water. That is very important. You don't wanna get the air trapped, nor do you want to get dehydrated. Hang in there, the fun has just begun. Teresa???? How are you today? Still stayin in the box? lol Susan.....Mornin!!!! How's Maggie? Yall have a good day, stay out of the ice storm that "supposed" to hit, and cover up with the box! lol lisa

Chuckles, Dr. Querry has offices in Marshall and Pittsburg. I have heard lots of nice things about her. Glo, glad you feel better. Man, that musta been tough! This is a hurry up morning, yall take care today and stay in the box! lisa

Way to go Teresa! Now you are getting it. I don't count calories anymore. Unless I think I'm not getting enough. I usually keep a journal for a week or two just to make sure I'm getting enough. I count protein grams instead. I missed the meeting tonite. Yall are not going to believe this. A (*$%^%#@*&@!) year old woman with an ear infection. I am trying to stay out of the cold air. Sorry Glo. I didn't want to start hurtin again. I sure don't remember ears hurting this bad. I would have liked to have attended. Talk to yall later. lisa

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Shannon. lol lisa

Teresa....... it's supposed to take you a long time to eat. You are supposed to eat your 1/2 cup while others are pigging out. lol Dr. H says 30 minutes. Cut your stuff into pencil eraser size bites. Eat one at a time and chew them until they are mush. I know.....easier said than done. Wait a little while between bites. So you can tell when you're getting satisifed. I'm guilty of not doing it too, but those are some of the things we are supposed to remember when we eat. Right? Don't think of it as being deprived, it's PORTION CONTROL!!! lol Smaller portions means smaller you! lol Yall have a good day! Don't forget the "B" . lol lisa
-
Gee thanks, Susan. I know I'm not all that important, but last? Now my lip is stuck out. lol NOT!!!! Hey Glo.... how are you? Haven't seen you post in a while. Yes the meeting is Monday nite. I hope to go, but you can never tell around here what's going to happen. lol Sugarbear, did you have a good trip? Teresa, talk to lo2us about being too tight. She knows. I have often wondered if I am, but I guess I'm not. It's just two weeks out of the month. I know I'm strange. I think if a person is too tight, it would be all the time. Sometimes when I get stuck, I think back to what I ate. Was it too large a bite? Am I eating too fast? Each time it is one or the other. I know when I am rushed to eat, I will do both and regret it very soon. I have found a new food that I can't eat. Fish. I love fish, but lately, it don't like me. Tuna is ok, but catfish, nope. Even baked. I guess it's the consistancy. I don't know, but it sure don't go down very well. Do yall ever crave stuff you used to eat? I want just a regular old hamburger. Bread and all. Whataburger sounds really good. mmmmmmm I know if I eat that, I would be very sorry. I guess I could take it apart, but it just would not be the same. I hope this passes soon. Well, yall be good today and behave yourselves. Go read the box rules that are on your fridge and remember them today. lol You too Susan! lisa

Way to go Dawn. That is the attitude to have. You have to be determined to make this work for you. It's a tool, not a miracle cure. There is one piece of advice that I think all of us that are banded will agree on. After your surgery (that you will breeze thru, by the way) get up and walk as soon as possible and as often as possible. Don't forget that. It's important. The sooner you start walking around the sooner you will be dismissed and it will start moving the gas out. Moving is as important as drinking your Water. How do yall like the new site? Cool huh? Yall have a good nite, talk to yall tomorrow! lisa

Chuckles, I'm cold. Not cold natured. Normally, I'm hot natured. The doc explained the other day why. I have lost my layer of insulation and my body has not acclimated to it. I just have to get used to not having the huge layer of fat that I used to have. lol Nothing major, just cold. Restriction depends on how much saline (not silicone) that is placed in the band via the port. If you have too much saline, the band does not permit food to go past it. The stoma (opening the band creates to the stomach) is very small. If you are too tight, you can't get enough nutrition. It can cause erosion. On the other hand, not having enough restriction is a lot like not having a band at all. You are able to eat larger quantities of food. It can be hard sometimes to get to your "sweet spot" in the restriction game, but it can be done. Log on to the lapband.com web site and do some research. It will answer some of these questions better than I can. Teresa..... sometimes I am way too tight, but I think it's because of TOM. The week before and the week during...... don't ask me to eat much, cause it ain't gonna happen. I'm just too tight. When I get stressed out, I get really tight too. He seems to think I may have a little too much in my band. I haven't had a fill in several months, but that's ok with me. I don't need one. I can tell from the first bite if I am going to be able to eat or not. Sometimes I can just tell if it's going to be a waste of time. lol But, I try to eat something even if it takes longer than usual. You know, if you hurt when you swallow the first bite that it's not going to be enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. You just know whether or not you will be able to eat much. I have rambled enough.... Yall have a good day! Stay in that thing.....what's it called? Box! Hey everyone else!!!!! You too SUSAN!!!! lisa

correction.......... Chuckles........free for the first year. ljg

Hey everyone! Glad to see new people posting. Welcome..... Chuckles, I think the fills for the self pay are free. I THINK! Ask the doctors or Mrs. Betty when you go back in. And hang in there, keep your faith. Dawn, you hang in there too. The pre-op diet is no picnic. (sorry for the pun) You will get there. It's not long now. Both of yall..... we are here to help. If you have more questions, ask. Someone will be on here to answer soon. Now...... I saw Dr. H monday and got the answer to out freezing problem. We have lost our insulation and our bodies have not (hope I spell this right) acclimated. But the good news is.....they will. I just wish mine would hurry up. lol I know......don't rush it. And get this, he said something about a small UN fill. I just laughed and thought "Oh no, you didn't just say that!" But, he let me slide and told me to come back and get one if I started having problems. Yall have a good day and stay in the box!!! I just gotta get time to change my ticker. lisa
-
hey yall! How's everyone? Sorry, I haven't posted much this week. Busy..... you know how it is. I have an appointment monday. I don't think I need a fill yet. Still pretty tight. I have lost those pesky few pounds that I gained during Christmas, so, I guess I'm ok. I have to admit I have been very lax in the exercise department lately. I just can't seem to get it into my schedule. I can't work out at night. If I do, I can't sleep. lol Mornings are hectic as any normal morning for anyone, so..... they won't let me walk to the main office from where I work, so..... I guess I will have to get up earlier. I don't really want to do that..... I get up at 4:30 anyway. Who in their right mind would get up a 4AM to exercise? It takes me at least 30 minutes to wake up. lol Oh well, I'll figure out something. Yall have a great weekend and remember the box! lisa
-
Sugarbear, I think after the first year, you only have to go every three months, and after that year then you go once a year. I have an appointment next monday. I'm kinda wondering if I need a fill or not. Box, Box, box!
-
I sure hope not, Sugarbear. I felt the same way for a long time after each fill. I had about two weeks restriction, then it was gone. Now, I think I have the proper restriction, just need to get myself up and do something. Today, I just don't have any energy. Oh, and my box rules are posted on my fridge. I look at them every day. lol Teresa..... it's like SugarB said. We are only human. I know what you mean about the band for the head. I had a terrible time with head hunger. When you get that way, get up and go outside or get busy. Drink some water. Some people mistake thirst for hunger. I did for a long time. Hang in there, k. You are doing great. Talk to yall later, k? lisa
-
Man, I gotta change my ticker. Just lookin at it makes me cold. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ljg
-
Whewwwwwww. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only cold person on this planet. My husband thinks I have gone nuts. lol Sugarbear.... I too have wondered if I'm anemic. But the last time I was at my pcp's office, he did blood work and I guess everything was fine. I hate that.... you would think someone would tell you results of things. I worked in a hospital laboratory for years. Certified phlebotomist.... Lab technician.... I know what the results mean, but do you think I can get anything out of anyone other than "everything looks fine" ? Nope not a thing. Sometimes that makes me a little sore. I ain't a dummy. lol Oh well, I'll just get me some Geritol and some of those CuddleDuds and see if I can get warm. lol Yall have a good day! Oh and in case yall haven't heard it......STAY IN THE BOX!!! lisa
-
Mornin everyone. I have a question..... Is it just me or are yall colder this winter?? I can NOT get warm. I have been cold since December 22. That was the day the children's choir went to sing at Six Flags. I don't feel bad, I just can't get warm. Could it be that my layer of insulation is gone??? Could it be that I will have to buy thermal underwear??? Could it be that I will thaw out in the spring? Could it be that I'm not eating enough for my body to produce enough heat to keep me warm? I got on the scales this morning. The last one is not a possibility. I have gained a couple of pounds. oops! Anyway, I was just wondering if yall were cold this winter. I am!!!!!!! See even the smiley is blue from the cold! lisa

Yep. It does cause some swelling. I'm sure you don't want to get stuck right after getting a fill. It might hurt and might hurt something. lisa
