Vylnn, don't worry about your weight loss discouraging us. I think you are doing great. If nothing else, its more incentive to work harder. Your surgery was the day before mine. I'm just having a problem with hunger. I don't have proper restriction yet and it's just rubbing me the wrong way. Yes, I am frustrated but, it's not because of you, so don't worry about it. I'm proud for you and I hope you and Billy keep going and going. (Just like the energizer bunny. lol) Like I said before, I am walking every day, (a mile, sometimes more) and doing all the things you are doing. But I know I don't have enough restriction yet. There are days that I want to eat the house down and other days when I just don't want anything. Anyway, don't think I am discouraged because of the great success you and Billy are having. I promise, that's not the problem...... promise. Thank you for the encouragement. Thanks Sugarbear for the encouragement also. I guess we are just gonna be slow pokes. Even though, I am NOT in favor of that. I am determined to get this off, so we will just have to work harder, won't we? Priss, glad to see you posting. The soreness is probably the port site and it will be sore longer than the other incisions. Use the heating pad like Sugarbear said. Personally, I wasn't too bright and didn't use it, but I wasn't really all that sore. Or I thought I wasn't. Hang in there, k? lo2us, I started using my CPAP machine BEFORE surgery. My apnea was so severe, I didn't have a choice. I had already started trying to sleep while driving. To be honest, I was always worried about the drive to Texarkana. I was always afraid I would to to sleep. In my opinion, if you need it, don't wait until after the surgery. Start using it as soon as possible. You will feel better when you get used to the machine. And as I said before, it will aide in your weight loss. Come to think about it, I haven't been able to use mine all nite for a few weeks. That may be one of the reasons, I haven't lost this 6 weeks. hmmmmmmmm It will also bring your blood pressure down if you have hypertension. Your body will start to repair the damage that not getting enough of the right kind of sleep causes. Lots of things happen to you when you have apnea. If you are hesitant to start using one, do some research on the subject. There are forums all over the net and people will help you there just like our band forum helps us here. Ok, I am thru with the sermon for today. lol Talk to yall later, k? lisa

Just make sure you say what you wanna to start with. lol Man, are we havin fun yet? Hey Priss, how are you? Doin ok? Let us know if we can help. Yall stay dry, I think it's gonna get wet tonite. lisa

Sorry Susan. I have had this notion all my adult life... old is 98. You aren't close yet. lol I just can't stand it when someone calls me Randy's "OLD LADY". Makes me madder than hornet. lol I know what you mean about the Monday thing. When I worked outside the home, I hated mondays too. Everyone is such a grouch......or is it just me? hmmmmm Sugarbear, to get the icons, you have to click "post reply" NOT "post quick reply". I don't use the icons much, cause I guess I'm just lazy and don't wanna go to the other screen. lol I haven't figgerd out the green box yet. I was just wondering about it. Maybe it's just a thing to let people know we are registered users. Who knows... Vylnn.... you go girl! I am impressed! 55 pounds is great!! (I'm just a little green lol) Billy is doing great too! I am soooo ready for the 30th. I need a fill in the worst way. I am stuck once again. And really frustrated this morning. Push mowed the yard yesterday. (2 acres) you would think I might lose something after that. Nope! So, I'm beginning to get a little on the frustrated side. Maybe it will show a difference later. Later girls! lisa

Bull-lone-nee!!!!! (and it ain't Oscar Mayer) You are as young as you feel! You think you're old, you get old, so stop that Susan! lol lisa
-
Thanks Teach! lol don't worry bout that, we all need a lesson sometimes. You know, I figured out, if a man is moaning and groaning, he must be getting better. lol Sugarbear, my little guy is 7. This is his first year of official little league. He played one year of T-Ball. Priss, stay with it, girl. You are on the working side of the band now. It may take a little while to see it helping, but it will. lo2us, as far as I know, anyone can come to the support group meetings. I don't think the docs mean it to be some kind of "secret socioty". lol (I know I spelled that wrong, but you get the picture) See yall later! Yall have a good day!

Mine started the day after surgery.(the gas thing) It wasn't really bad, just uncomfortable. Just keep moving and it will not hurt as bad. Vylnn, I did the same thing that Billy is doing. I think it may be just swelling. Tell him to take it slow and cheer up, things will get better. I just have to tell yall this.... my little man hit the game winning homerun last nite!!!! The coach gave him the homerun ball! I don't know who was floating higher, him or me. The sad thing about it is, I was working in the concession stand and didn't get to see it. (Boooo!) We won!!!! 10-9! Oh, and do you realize just how hard it is to work in a concession stand with a band? Man, I wanted a coke sooooooo bad. But I didn't. promise! Drunk my water like a good little girl, but I was thinking evil thoughts. lol Yall have a good day, the boys are entered in a fishing tourney this morning and baseball practice this afternoon, so off I go... again! lisa

Oh well..... we are worth 5 stars! lisa

I don't know if that green box has anything to do with it or not. I was just on another thread and there was a lady that had a rep power of SEVEN!!! and her little box was still green. Who knows, I just thought it was interesting. But, did you also notice that the Texarkana Banster thread has stars on the page to get to our little discussison. (that make sense?) The listing page for all the different threads on the Texas board. That sounded better. Cool. we have stars! lol

lisa
And we are distinguished. Cool... touch us!!! lol
-
Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is drinking their water today! lol I have a question that has nuthing to do with our little thread. In the top right corner of each post there is a "Rep power" thingy. Some have 0, some have 1 and some have 2. What is that all about? I know, ask a dumb question...... but I just had to ask. lol lisa

Hi D! Welcome aboard. I have had my second fill. (March 19th) I must say that it helped a little. I can tell I have some restriction, but not the kind that I need. I'm still getting hungry and I haven't lost much since the 19th. My first fill was 1.7cc, the second was .5cc. You are welcome to join us on this thread anytime. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Our support group meetings are on the third monday of the month at the hospital in Mt. Pleasant. You would be welcome to come and bring your friends. We have a really good group there. There are a lot of us that use the same Dr's and post on the Texarkana thread as well, so you might get more opinions there if that's what you are looking for. lol Anyway, welcome and if you have any questions, ask lisa

Morning Yall! How's everyone this morning? lisa

Hey yall. vylnn, glad Billy is doing ok. I know what you mean bout men and the pain thing. lol poor thing, bless his heart. lol hope you told him to get up and walk or he will be in greater pain from the gas! He is doing great on his wt loss. Tell him congrads, and keep up the good work. Sugarbear, I used straight vitamin E on my incision sites for a while, but I'm not using anything now. I think they will fade into nothing but little white lines. And besides all that, I don't think anyone will be seeing them except for my husband and he knows what it's all about, so it's not a big deal for me. gotta go, yall have a good day, k? lisa
-
This site.... it changed colors and stuff. Don't get lost, I just noticed. Hang in there, Priss. It's not long now.... Remember, get up and walk as soon as possible and drink your water. Right yall? Vylnn, how's Billy? lisa
-
Man, check out the site..... Ain't that just the bees knees??? lisa
-
Sugarbear, I have heard of some people getting a fill and not having restriction until about 2 weeks out or longer. I don't fully understand it either. I could tell I had more restriction when I got my second fill, but now I don't. I haven't lost but two pounds. That doesn't count the five I lost twice. boo! I know what you mean about being impatient. One of my goals was to be at a certain weight before Easter to be able to wear a new Easter dress, but I'm still about 15 pounds away from that goal. I'm ready for some action. I think I may be building muscle. I have been on the exercise thing really heavy (except for last week when I was sick). There are parts of me that I refuse to let gravity get without a fight just yet. I have dropped two sizes in my jeans, and that is encouraging, but still, I wanna be loosing faster. Speaking of clothes, I promise, yall don't want my rags. I haven't bought new clothes on purpose. I refused to buy bigger clothes that I had, so the ones I was wearing were worn out and I chunked them. Yall can organize a clothes swap, but mine can't be included. Sorry. lisa

there's nothing worse than a "two" monday week!! Hope the second monday is better than the first. lisa

Well, after I posted that question, I got a call from school. Seems like my little guy was not feeling well. Took him in yesterday afternoon and he has the flu. I guess he got it from me, I was dead last week. I didn't get home from the dr's office until around 6:30, so I couldn't have gone anyway. I hope I don't get in trouble. I was looking forward to it. I have really enjoyed the meetings I have been to so far. Talk to ya later, k? lisa
-
vylnn, I've noticed, but I thought it was just me. I am ready for number 3 also. I will get it in a couple of weeks, but I could have used it yesterday. Tell Billy we said Good luck and prayers for a uncomplicated procedure and speedy recovery. lisa
-
Good luck, priss. Keep us posted. Remember, walk, walk, walk. and drink your water. lisa
-
Aww, it's not hard to find. (west on I-30 from Texarkana) Sure you can go without being banded. We have some folks that are pre-band coming to ours. You hang in there, there will be one next month. lisa

I saw Dr. H once or twice before surgery. There is a long story behind my WLS journey and to make it short, I had almost everything needed for approval when I went in to see him the first time. I don't think there is a lot of meetings scheduled before. They do, however, like to see you at the support group meetings. Did you go last week? There is one scheduled tonite in Mt. Pleasant. (that's my group) I promise they help. lisa
-
Susan, are you going tonite?
-
lo2us, yes that thingy in your nose is really annoying. They had to change my thingy to one that has a sensor that stuck just inside my mouth. Talk about gross! It took me about two weeks to get back any results. Glad you got thru that part. The rest will be clear sailing. Priss... The day I signed my consent forms, I went to the hospital and did my out patient pre-op stuff also. I signed my forms on a Wed. and my surgery was on Friday. Since you have a little more time than I did, you might not have to do all that in the same day. (it's really not a drawn out thing at the hospital) Oh, and I don't think I lost 10 pounds before surgery. And nothing was said, so don't sweat the small stuff. Things will work out in their right time. Yall have a good day! lisa

Yep, it can dx restless leg syndrome. They also monitor your heart rate and O2 saturation. Apnea affects your heart along with your sleep. The Dr I saw was board certified in pulmonary diseases, critical care medicine, internal medicine and sleep medicine. (and pediatrics) Not getting enough sleep can cause obesity. I could go on and on, but I won't. My CPAP machine has helped. (being treated for sleep apnea also will aid in weight loss) Sorry, I'm rambling. I'll quit now....lol Oh yeah, vlynn, change that ticker as often as you want too. It's good to see each other doing what we are supposed to do. Be proud of that!! I promise, if mine was moving like yours, I would be changing it too. Even one pound is good for a change!!! :clap2: lisa
-
Vlynn.....girl, I was just kiddin bout the train. Keep it moving as long as you can. There will come a day when, it will stop on it's own. You go, you are doing great. I had to do the metabolic testing too. I had forgotten about that one. I just couldn't figure out how breathing into a machine would tell them how many calories I burned. Haaaaa, the wonders of medicine. lol lisa
