Hi Kacee. Northeast Texas here. Maybe we just like to socialize more than other folks. You know how Texans are. Glad to meet ya! Good luck on your upcoming surgery. lisa

Mornin everyone! How's ever little thang this mornin? Hope everyone is doing great today. Sharon, I go to the Mt. Pleasant meetings. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get to the Doc's office and I have no clue where much else is in Texarkana. Sam's, Lifeway, Target, the MALL that's about it. lol I don't even know if I could find Wadley again. lol You know I'm blonde. lol :youcandothis: My ticker disappeared also. I just re-did it. I just get aggravated about the site not being as quick as it was. I was on this morning and tried to post and gave up after ten minutes of waiting. I am NOT a patient person when it comes to things like that. Glad you had a good time on your vacation. vylnn, hope Mr. Turtle is doing ok. How are you? It's almost time.... My little boy is really getting antsy for school to be out. Shannon, how are you? Are you getting antsy too? It won't be long now. Started on the liquid diet yet? mmmmmm gooood! lol Just keep telling yourself that. Well, shhhhhh, I think my scales are moving FINALLY!!!! I can tell I have a band that is working for me now. It is so cool to finally realize that. Now, if I can just get the band on my brain to work as well, I will be all set. Yall have a good day, I'm off to mow. lisa

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is doing ok. Glad to see you back, Sharon. Have a good trip? Well, I have to say, I am actually starting to loose again, but I haven't lost below my ticker. I'm working on it. I haven't had time to even think about food the last few days, so the head hunger is not much of a problem now. I'm asking again....... Is anyone else having trouble with this site? Since they put the new skin on, I have a LOT of trouble. I know it's not my pc, cause other web pages are loading as usual, but this one is really ticking me off!!!! I'm bout ready to holler real loud at someone!!! Yall have a good day. This will probably be the last time I will get on today. It just takes too much time. lisa

Sorry LL, I haven't heard of her. My advice is to just be careful about choosing a doctor to do your fills. Is she trained by Inamed? How many band procedures has she done? How long has she been certified? These are questions that I would ask her. The physician who does the fills is just as important as the one that placed the band. And I'm not being rude when I say this cause if I didn't have insurance, I woud be in your boat too, but I would be a little leary of charges so cheap. Make an appointment with her and discuss the procedure with her and then make a decision. Sorry, if I wasn't much help. lisa

That is the PITTS, Susan. Man, it's funny how things work. I couldn't live 5 miles from you as the crow flies and I didn't get one hail stone. I'll come help you if you need some help. I like digging in dirt. As for Kramer, that little scamp needs to stop wandering so much. My husband went to work one morning this week and found our cocker spaniel almost a mile and a half from our house. That's bad. He's liver colored and is very hard to see at 5 a.m. I think he was out huntin a girlfriend. Well, my restriction is coming and going. Yesterday, I wanted to eat the house down at lunch and I wasn't even hungry at supper. I wonder what gives..... Is everyone else having touble with this site loading??? It is taking forever to get anywhere on here. I have given up so many times this week it's not funny. I almost wish I had wild blue!!! Yall have a wonderful Mothers Day! lisa
-
Gosh, it's 2 PM and no one has posted. Is everyone busy or what? lisa
-
Yeah, but I thought we were gonna get struck by lightnin. We didn't get any hail either, but it sure did rain. I'm just glad that one is over with. lisa

Shannon, you don't have to supply your own stockings. You will get them before surgery. I think red high tops will be the prettiest. lol Christi, I have been able to stop taking 4 of the 5 meds I was on before surgery. the dose on the last one has been cut in half. So, there are other benefits to the surgery. Stay with us. I know I joke around alot, but I really take this very seriously and everyone on here has helped me with my hard times. Thanks Yall!! Vylnn, glad to hear Billy is doing ok. You hang in there and things will get better. Just think about how skinny you will be when school starts next year and you won't want all those goodies. See yall lisa

That's really cool, Paula. I'm glad you have restriction. I finally know what you mean by not overeating. I couldn't if I wanted too. Christi, who's doing your surgery? Having band placement really is a life changing event, but I don't regret it one bit. I feel like I finally have control over what I eat and how much. Don't worry too much about the needle thing. It's like Priss said, I also got stuck twice. Once for the pre-op lab and once for the IV. If you are having your surgery at Wadley, the nurses in the Day Surgery Department are really nice and very proficient. They will put you at ease very quickly. The anesthesiologists are also very good and will do everything possible to assure you that everything is cool. After you get your IV, all your meds will be injected thru it, so there isn't any unnecessary needle sticks. After the surgery, you aren't allowed to pick up anything over 10 pounds because the port is sutured to one of the abdominal muscles. If you were to accidently pull one of those sutures loose, you could risk a flipped port. That would make it kinda hard for fills. It's possible to get a fill with a flipped port, but I have read that it's hard to do and most are done by flouroscope. I don't want to scare you , but since you ask about the lifting..... lisa
-
One more thing, Priss. When you get hungry, drink water and get busy. It will help. lisa
-
Morning everyone! Priss, I thought I was going to starve to death in bandster hell. It's normal until you get a fill to get restriction. My first 2 fills didn't do much good, so hang in there, k? Hey Susan, How's things in your garden? Christi, welcome aboard! Don't be shy. If you have questions, ask. We will try to help in anyway we can. Vylnn, How's Billy? How's vylnn holding up? Yall have a good day. We have 'field days' starting today and I will be at school. Man, I thought I was thru with school!! lisa

Genia, believe me, I know bout the concession stand thing. That has got to be the hardest thing. I wanted cheese stix and chocolate. AND A DIET COKE!!! But, I didn't. I just drank my water and started picking on the kids and the girl that was working with me. I know you can't believe that I would do such thing, but I confess. This is my third fill, and I'm sure glad it worked. I was begining to get really frustrated and discouraged. I hadn't lost any thing in at least 6 weeks. Boo. But, maybe, I'm on the road now. lisa

I don't know if a garter belt will work. It won't hurt to try. My legs are just made funky. I have scar tissue on one from getting stomped by a horse when I was young and it made it hard to keep that one stocking up where it's supposed to be. They just might be ok for you. Also, they are for circulation and I circulated enough, (I thought) after a few days. I walked alot right after surgery anyway. lisa

Poor guy, I have heard it's lots harder on men. Bless his heart. I don't know about urologists. We have a couple of good ones in Mt. Pleasant, but I don't think you wanna drive that far. Man, let us know how he does. I'll add him to our prayer list, k? Ha, Ha, Shannon. We want you to be surprised about some things. Can't have you knowing everything going into surgery. lol I hated those things. especially when I started walking further. I looked like a duck trying to walk and hold mine up. lol Ended up taking them off before I was supposed too. As for the post-op diet. You will get a little sheet telling you what you can have. E-mail Amy Roberts at Wadley. She can send you something. I can PM you her address if you want it. I had lots of sugar free Jello and I loved the broth from chicken noodle soup. Be careful not to get any noodles. Apple juice. Ms. Betty said anything you can drink thru a straw is fine. No chunks of meat. And yes, I have heard that it sometimes takes as long as 2 weeks for a fill to engage?, take effect? you know what I mean. I think that's why you can't get a fill but every 6 weeks. But, since I finally have restriction, it's not so bad after all. I just hope I will start loosing faster. I wonder where Sugarbear is.... hope she is having the time of her life up there in the mountains. Suuuuusssannnnn, where are uuuuuuu? We haven't heard from you lately. lisa

Well...looky here. I'm sorry, do I know you? lol Did you say your name was wanna be thin???? Did you get your internet service fixed at home? Girl, you have lost some weight. That is really fantastic. Go, Genia, Go! lol Is that little box your ticker? Little box, little ticker....little Okie! lol I just knew you had dried up and blowed away. I'm glad you posted. I was beginning to worry.... lol Yall will NEVER guess what happened to me yesterday. I FINALLY HAVE RESTRICTION!!!!! Man, do I have restriction. This is great. I hope it lasts at least 25 lbs. You never know until, it hits you, then you know for sure you have restriction. I got stuck yesterday and then turned around and got stuck again this morning. Needless to say, I quit eating and grabbed a shake (sorry Sharon, I just had to do it lol) I don't think I will be eating much today. Think I will wait until later. Man, don't that sound great. I'M NOT HUNGRY!!! Kinda like Ripley's..... believe it, or not. lol Yall have a good day! Talk to ya later! lisa

Well, it's helped some. Maybe, it will kick in and work better soon. This is another "bad weather" day, so I won't be on much today. Have a good day after Sunday. lisa

My drive is also about 1.5 hours. vylnn, there is another girl that lives in Idabel that used to post on this thread. She was banded in Feb. I don't know if she goes to the support group meetings, but I guess she is close to you. She used the name wannabthin. If you see her at the meetings, tell her we said Hi and she COULD post from time to time. Tell her I said that. Have a good weekend everyone! lisa

Good morning everyone. Priss, sound like you had lots of fun. That's cool. The two week check up is just to make sure things are ok and healing properly. He will talk to you a bit and that's about it. Then at 6 weeks you will get a fill. Just hang in there. It's kinda tough at this time, but don't get discouraged. Sometimes it takes a couple of fills to start to feel restriction, but you will get there. And just so you know, vlynn, they are gone AGAIN! lol I'm doing the same way I did with that five pounds that I played with in March. Now, it's three. Maybe next month, I won't have to do this. I'm hoping those pounds will leave and not come back . How's Mr. Turtle? Hope he's doing ok. Talk to yall later! lisa
-
Harsh????? That's not harsh. lol And I did enjoy it until this morning. Girl, you are sooooo close to ONEderland it's not funny. I'll bet you will be there before Monday. I noticed you said MY Kindergarten. It's hard to let those little ones go, ain't it? I know it was hard for my little boys K teacher. I made a good friend last year and we both cried when the year was over. But...... we still kid around and e-mail each other. You will see them next year. Check out this crazy site. We have changed again. We even have a smilin girl to look at us at the top of the page. Isn't that sweet? lisa

Scared about 1st fill! Please help!!!!
Lisa G. replied to gafarhamand's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Gloria. First of all, don't stress over your fill. I was very nervous about my first fill also. But it was all for nothing. I have two surgeons taking care of me. They are married and work as a team. She did my first and second fill. Some doctors prefer to numb the area above the port, some don't. I got my third fill this past monday. He doesn't numb the area. My preference is not to numb it first. the medication that is used to numb the area stings. Plus you are getting stuck twice. (but just once into the port) It's not any worse than getting stuck in the arm for a shot. just in a different spot. That's just my opinion. And one other thing. If you stress about it, your skin will tighten and will make it hurt worse than if you try to stay relaxed. Try not to worry bout it, it will be ok. lisa -
Well....they are back.(pounds) Man, I can't win for loosing. Or I can't lose. This is getting more than a little agravating!!! Maybe, I need to change my diet up some. I don't know. Anyway, have a good day Susan. Watch out for those 'chompers'. lol lisa
-
Yes Mam! But.....it's back this morning. lol I know what happened. While on my walk yesterday I got caught in a rain storm and just soaked up that 3 pounds of water. (and the dawg ate my homework too) The meeting thing would be cool, I think. Might be fun. Sugarbear, yall have fun on your vacation. My husband's family lives in the Branson area. That area is so full of things to do, but I like my living area a little ...... flatter. We (the little guy and me) get car sick every time we go up there. I just hate that. I sure don't want to try that with a band. I guess I'll just have to stay in one place next time we go. lol Wouldn't that be a lot of fun. lol Talk to yall later. lisa

I promise, it's just water. Water don't count in my book. I want shrinking fat cells!!! lol lisa
