SIZE 6?????? Whoa! I have some of them some where. I think I have some 4's but they have been lost in the back of the closet so long, I bet they have discentigraded. (is that spelled correctly??) Julie, boitin does not have a smell. Just don't snort it and you will be fine. lol
-
Julie, some people's hair does thin. Sometimes, it's from the anesthesia, sometimes it's from your diet. Sometimes, it's just stress!!! The docs aren't kidding about the protein intake. You have to get at least that much (40 to 60 grams) daily. Mine has thinned and it's from all the above reasons, but I still have a lot of hair. My genetics are another reason for my thin hair. But..... there are a variety of ways to get protein. There are the little vials that are sold on the noscales site, protein drinks, and the Protienex that is sold at the pharmacies. So, don't fret.... you can do this. You just have to adjust your lifestyle to include these things if you can't get enought in your diet. See..... problem solved. lol

Yay, Susan! Made you feel better, didn't it? Good morning everyone. Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. It seems that stress has a lot to do with the restriction of your band. Or it does mine. I have had a lot going on this past two weeks and I have had major restriction. I can't eat more than 2 or three bites at a time without having problems. Glad I got some of the papaya enzyme. THANKS Shannon! Mushies seem to go down pretty well, but solid food is another story. So, I'm either at my sweet spot or just nearly there. I know one thing......yall don't get stressed out. lol Well, this starts another week. Our first football game is Saturday. Valiant OK, if anyone is interested (Genia) Second week of school. Things are looking bright this year. T really likes his teacher, so that is good news. lo2us, how do you feel this morning? Did you call the office? I haven't been on this weekend, but I thought about you. Hope things are better for you today. Yall have a good day, k?
-
Susan, I'm not even going to comment on that one. I'll tell you one just about as bad. I fell off the porch just before I got my band and stabbed a pc of underpinning up into my armpit. Don't that make for a pretty picture in your mind. Hope you feel better soon. If you need anything, I'm just a phone call away.
-
Glo, I guess it will be. I don't know what the RDA is on it. I don't think the FDA has one either. I was using the 1000mcg before. I just ran out and bought my first bottle or 5000mcg because Wally world didn't have the other. It's water soluble, so you absorb what you need and the rest goes out with the water. Know what I mean? lol Yall have a good holiday weekend.
-
Fine Glo, thanks for asking. I don't take my biotin with a meal. I take them in the morning when I take my BP meds. (that I hope to be off of really, really soon.) I also went to GNC this morning and got some papaya enzyme. I ate one just to see how it tasted. Not all that bad. I got the 90 tab bottle. (I don't wanna have to take them very often. lol) for 2.99. Cheap enough, I reckon. Shannon, I think the over all vote is to call the office, so...... what are you waiting for? Let us know what they say, k? Sorry if this posts twice. Something is goofed up
-
Shannon, it wouldn't hurt to call. You know this is a holiday weekend. But, you are right, it's nice to see all those smaller sizes! Way to go! Teresa, that's the one I got. I don't have to open mine and it hasn't gotten stuck. You know what size they are. I think they go down like something going down the drain. lol They flip up on one end and slip thru the stoma. Sharon, hang in there. I hope today is better. Give it to God, he will comfort. He tells us that. If you need to talk, you know where to go, k?

Julie, be careful about blending fruit in you slim fast post op. You can't have any clumps. Some people can't eat fruits with seeds. (strawberries). The seeds bother them. They don't bother me, but there are some at our support group in Mt. Pleasant, that are.

Julie, I found my post op sheet. It says All liquids are to be room temp until nausea is resolved then you can have them hot or cold. Skim/fat free milk, slim fast, broths, low-fat creamy soups. 100% juice (4oz.daily)

That is for week one and two.

Hi Julie. Welcome aboard. We like questions and you will get a variety of answers, but don't get overwhelmed, k. First, pain meds. To be on the safe side, get them filled. I took a couple of doses. The first night and the next day. I didn't really need them, I just didn't want to wait until I did. The pain is not unbearable, just uncomfortable. But the docs give you something for nausea also. Some people need this. The worst thing you can do after being banded is vomit. It can cause slippage, since the band is newly sutured to the outside of the stomach wall, you don't want to do anything that might upset it until it gets seated. Erosion is caused from the band being too tight, or vomiting LOTS. Talk to your doctor bout it. Which one are you using? You are right about both reasons people gain weight with the band. It's only a tool to help you with portion control YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE RIGHT FOOD CHOICES. I have heard the term "eating around the band". That is what other people call "grazing". If you eat small snacks all the time, of course the band is not going to help you. You aren't accomplishing anything and calories will add up. Sooner or later, you will be back to taking in as many calories as you did before the band. You also have to remember that your band is empty for 6 weeks after you get it. There is little to no restriction and you have to be careful. Personally, I wanted to eat the house down. That's when you drink lots of water to help keep the hunger down. Stay busy, that helps too. The procedure is a day-surgery. I was one of the last ones done the day I got mine and I was home around 4pm. I went to surgery around 11 that morning. But I would have been home sooner. We stopped and shopped after I was released. Clear liquids, soup broths. I liked the soup from chicken noodle. Just be careful and don't get any noodles or chicken. Warm liquids will help your stomach feel better. Some of the girls used heating pads. I think that helped them. You can also have sugar free popscicles and that kind of stuff. The other girls will have more suggestions. They will also give you a list of post-op instructions when you are dismissed. There are some suggestions on what to eat on there. Water.....lots of water. Walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. That will help you. Walking helps move the gas, sipping water is important to keep from dehydrating. Well, sorry to be so long winded. Hope this helps.

Glo, I will be there physically. Barring something out of the ordinary. What time is your appointment? I think mine is at nine. I can come hold your hand if you want, but you really don't need it. It's not bad. Both docs are really good and you will be fine. Way to go, Teresa, on the present.....lol you might need them later. I still drink one occasionally, but they are pushed WAY back in the back of the ice box. lol Glad everything went ok at the sleep study. Did they give you any indication???? Well, better git. Just had to check in this morning. I have groceries to put up. later yall! Oh yeah, Hi Susan!

Sugarbear, here is a quote from my bottle of biotin----" Biotin is a water-soluble B Vitamin that assists protein and fat metabolism for energy use. Water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body, so they sould be consumed everyday. Biotin also helps promote the health of skin, hair and nails."--- Some people say that it helps with hair loss also. And we know what caused the loss. I know, I can see a difference in my nails and hair, so it must be doing something for me when I take it like I'm supposed to. abatts, welcome to band land! My band does the same thing. They are "moody". Sometimes, all I can do is drink, sometimes I can eat the house down. I think part of it has to do with hydration. When you drink your water like you are supposed to, you might not feel as hungry as if you don't drink like you are supposed to. I know it has a lot to do with the amount of protein you take in also. If I don't get enough in, the next day, I starve. If you don't keep a diary, start one. It will help with calorie and protein count. Believe me, I thought I was getting enough of everything until I started my diary. Boy, was I shocked to find that I wasn't. You don't have to keep it long, it's just to give you an idea of what you are consuming, how much exercise you have been doing, and water consumption. Hey glo. How's the slipper moving? lol
-
Good morning everyone. How's every little thing this morning? Thj, bad carbs.....bad carbs. Stay away from them. Don't eat carbs unless you have protein to go with them. I just try to stay away from them as much as possible. Especially those in liquid form. lol Like I said, work on the protein part. I know that's hard for you right now, but you can do it by getting some protein powder and mixing it with water or skim milk. Also there are some vials you can purchase at the noscales.com e-store. They are very small (3 ounces, I think) and are packed with protein. That should help with the cravings. Sugarbear, I think Lynn has just been busy with her new "job". She may be too tired to even get online when she gets home. I would be exhausted from the stress myself. Susan.........have a good day. (broke toe) hehe. TP... are you awake??? I know you didn't sleep last nite. Anyone that had a sleep study done knows that you don't sleep that night. lol Go take a nap. Shannon, thanks for the tip bout the virus going around. We do NOT need that in our house. Better git, yall have a good day.

Ok T, good luck on the study tonite. Let us know how it went. I didn't like drinking Water at first either, but you get used to it and don't want anything else. I use crystal lite or the Great Value to go packs in my water. Crystal lite has a bunch of really good flavors. I also like the cherry limeade that great value has (wal mart brand) Try them, cause as you know, water consumption is directly involved in weight loss. You gotta get your water in some way. You can do it, we all have problems sometimes, but you gotta keep at it. I promise it will get easier to do. Also, after you get your band and some restriction, it will be easier to cook for your family. Believe it or not....your mind set changes after a while and you just don't want to eat as much. Or I don't. I see people eating hamburgers and junk like that and I wonder how I could have ever eaten that much food. I did, but now, its hard to imagine. You will know what I mean when you get to that point. lol I think others on the board will say the same thing. Hey everyone else! How is everyone this morning? I am making a promise to start exercising more starting today. How bout you? What kinds of exercise are you doing today? hmmmmmmm? Yall have a good day!
-
Oh yeah, lo2us says the papaya enzyme works well when you get stuck. I think you can get it at GNC and places like that. Is that true, lo2us? Where did you say you got yours?
-
Hey abatts, please forgive me. We have had so many new people lately, I can't keep up with things. When did you have surgery? Have you had a fill lately? Have you tried drinking something warm a little bit before trying to eat? I have about a 1/2 cup of coffee and then breakfast later. Try it if you haven't already. It helps me. I sometimes feel really tight during the day myself, but I just grin cause I know my band is there and doing its job. lol Now, if I can just get the one in my head to work better.......
-
Susan, would you like some cheese with that whine?????? Sorry, I'm just full of something today. I'll come put your toe in a splint if you want me too. I'll feel sorry for you. Ok, time's up. Now, get back to work. lol How is everyone else???
-
Film at 11! See the foaming, banded woman, live.....with in flight interview. (but not too close) Sorry, Betty, it's just too tempting. lol TP, you hang in there. It won't be long until you will be eating rabbit food. And you know, if you need a CPAP..... get one with the FLEX setting. Don't let them talk you into one without it. They are much easier to get used to than one that blows constantly. The flex part lets you exhale without the pressure. I reckon you might already know that, but just in case you don't. There's my tip for the day. gotta go, yall behave. You to Broke toe Susan! lol

Hi everyone. TP, I think everyone has to do a sleep study. Part of doctors requirements, but also may be part of your insurance requirements. If you have apnea, it is considered a co-morbidity and will help you with approval. (unless you are like hippmom and lo2us, they were self pay). And Sugarbear is right, it AIN'T fun. I thought I didn't sleep very long, but they said I did. I used Dr. Bailey in Texarkana. They were very nice. Sunlight, be careful on the plane. Everyone might think you have rabies. lol That would be a sick joke, wouldn't it. lol First day of school, first day of school!!! I think I'm as excited as Tanner. He is just like his daddy, he doesn't act like it matters one bit. lol He has this nonchalant attitude about all of it. Is that a man thing? lol There is one other thing, M I L was dismissed from the hospital friday. Yall pray for her and hospice to take good care of her. I know they will. Yall have a good day. I have lots to do, since I didn't get to do a lot last week.

Yeah!!!!! Gus!!!!!!!

Sharon, I took one this morning and had no problem with it. It's long, but not that big around. Probably not any bigger around than some blood pressure pills. I guess, in theory, it could get crossways with the stoma, but taking it with water, the gel of the capsule should disolve in a couple of minutes. I had no pain, didn't even think about it after I took it.
-
TP, when you do your ticker, copy and paste the picture of the ticker, not the URL thingy. Be sure to save your changes in your "edit signature" page on this site. That should do it. It may take it a second or two to add it to your signature after your first post. So don't panic after you do it, k. Sorry bout the missed meal. I know how call can be. Yuck! I hated call. (Lab Tech) Hang in there, monday's coming.
-
Glo, just swallow them. Susan, you go girl with all the house cleaning and the smaller scrubs. Yay Us!!! Go, TP! You can do this. THJ, how are you? Need to keep us posted. We can help! Yall have a good nite!
-
You just don't know.......lol we call Tanner, Tornado Tanner. lol I just don't see how one person, especially a little person, can mess up so many clothes and dishes on one day. I'm kinda like you, Susan, I would much rather be outside playing in the flower beds. I just hate mowing. I didn't do much in my beds this year. I guess that's a good thing now. I don't have time to do anything anymore. Tanner keeps me pretty busy. I hope things will get back to the normal dirt when school starts. I have big plans. lol I ain't tellin either. lol Glo, I just bought some boitin in Paris this morning. You can use the tablets, just cut them up in pieces. I use the capsules. I hope I can get them down now. I don't have any idea how big my stoma is, but I haven't had any problem with the capsules in the past. OH... I have a NSV to tell. I just bought a SMALLER size jeans. AND on top of that they are Rockies. If anyone knows rockies, they run smaller than other jeans!!!!!! Goodie, goodie, gum drops!!!! I got tired of wearing those elastic waistband things that grow on ya. Yall know the kind I mean. I sure hope they boost my morale. Gotta git, my house is getting dirtier by the minute. lol later yall
