Hi Love, sorry to say I was turned down twice by BCBS, my last denial was in 2005, so maybe the rules have changed by now. I struggled with them for so long, I had time to save the $$$ for surgery myself and so I opted for self pay. BCBS kept stating they considered Banding experimental even though it's been approved by the FDA and there have now been 100's of thousands of surgeries performed. I'm alwas amazed (polite term) at how these insurance companies are allowed to make their own rules.:angry

who's bible??, not everyone sings out of the same hymn book and which part of the bible, beacause as you know most of it was not written by God with infinite wisdom, but by men with a limited view of the big picture It's so hard to find love in the world, why cheat 2 consenting adults of that blessing when they find it, regardless of gender??? -
Price Negotiation$ Self Pay
JasminesMystic replied to kimberly150's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I also have BC/BS who would not pay for my surgery, it took be 2 years to save the money and the entire 2 years I was paying outrageous monthly insurance premiums. There's no getting around it the Insurance Companies always seem to have the biggest stick, so just look at it as an investment in your future, just like school would be. I see no problem negotiating, in fact it would be silly not to, why pay more for the same exact service (as long as you've researched your surgeon). My surgeon had an arrangement with a small Hospital that would lower their costs if he performed surgery at their facility, and he was kind enough to pass those savings on to me, so that helped. And Dr. Heikel although I can appreciate the analogy, a Picasso is much different than surgery as I've never known a lack of paintings to be life threatining Best of luck Kim, don't give up, at one point I was so sure I would never be able to have surgery, and now I'm very happily 9 weeks post op -
How long should it take to eat a meal
JasminesMystic posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi All, I am curious......... How long does your Dr. say it should take you to eat a meal. Mine has advised 30-45 minutes, which is a challenge for me, I always seem to finish sooner than that. I've seen a lot of reference material that indicates it's better to finish a meal in 15-20 minutes. Wondering what you've been intsructed? Thanks in advance for sharing:hungry: -

Drinking while eating poll
JasminesMystic replied to K@t's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
great poll I just had surgery in August and have been struggling with this, I couldn't figure out when I was going to have time to drink:eek: I don't usually drink during my meal unles it's just a sip or 2, and I don't drink for 30 - 45 minutes after, but I was having a hard time not drinking anhour before meals, now I feel better about that, think I won't worry about it so much as long as I control drinking during and after my meals thanks to all for the info -
Hello, I'm new to the site, just got banded August 14th, it's been an adevnture and a real learning experience so far, a little tough sometimes, but I'm very excited about my new direction. Wish I had known about this site a couple of weeks ago, there's so much good info here, it would have saved me a bunch of silly worrying and questions. Thanks so much for all the great info, I've learned more in the past 2 days than I had since surgery:p
