After considering WLS for over 5 years I decided it was time to get serious, choose a surgeon, get the referral, and move forward. That decision was less than two weeks ago, and now I have been to a seminar, had a consultation with the doctor, have appointments next week for for the phych eval and with the nutritionist, and pending final approval surgery is scheduled for April 20th...WOW! Everything is moving so fast that I have not had much time to absorb it all yet. I will post as things progress.
Update...With everything progressing so fast, I decided that I needed a few more weeks to prepare myself and my family for surgery. I am now scheduled for surgery May 6, 2010 and feel at peace with that date. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. August 2010 UpdateThe pre-op diet was hard, but I did it and lost 16 pounds during those two weeks! Surgery went well with no complications. When I went in for my fist fill Dr. Smith had trouble accessing the port, but eventually he was able to get the needle in. The second fill was not successful because the port had flipped so I was scheduled for a port revision. I had that surgery this week and am recovering well. I was able to successfully get a fill the day after surgery and I am a happy camper now. My weight loss is currently at 56 pounds...40 after surgery and 16 before, but every pound counts in my book :)
January 2015 Update After ups and down with the band for almost 5 years (fills and unfills) and after regaining most of the weight I have decided to have a band to sleeve revision and I am scheduled for surgery on Monday January 5th. Looking forward to a fresh start
