Doctor is treading water?
AllieBearRocks replied to AllieBearRocks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I didn't have any co-pays, like ever. I have yet to pay anything for the surgery or any of the office visits. I have really great insurance. But what I think it is... I think either the place where I was getting the fills may not be billing my insurance correctly, or my surgeon kind of stretched the truth to get me into the surgery so quickly. I really have no idea. All I know is that I was promised free fills for a year at the place I had my surgery and first fill where I was numbed and had ex-ray after, and now I have to go to my surgeons office to get them done with no ex-ray after and no numbing and I am feeling like his team used me for my insurance. I'm going to continue going every 2 weeks to get fills, but I really feel like they knew it was going to happen like that and did it anyway. I know they make a ton of money off my insurance. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but my opinion of my surgeon has done a complete 360 since before and after the surgery and I'm feeling used and abused. -
I'm extremely frustrated. I had my surgery May 6th, and have only lost 22 pounds according to my surgeon's scale. I also only have 2cc's in my band, out of a 10cc band. My first fill was with the place I got my surgery at, and I was told by my doctor that I would have free fills for the first year, well I tried to go back to get my 2nd fill from the place I had my actual surgery at and they told me my insurance wouldn't cover it. So I called my doc, and he said we can do fills in his office and he will just bill insurance as an office visit. So I have had 2 fills in his office now, and both times he has only given me .5 of a cc, and both times, I have felt NO restriction. I feel like he is just treading water until I have to pay for fills. I am eating right, walking now, and under a lot of stress in my personal life. Not to mention, anytime I have questions, my doctor points me to the nurse, the NEW nurse, who has never had the surgery, or studied any of it, she is learning as she goes. I feel like I'm the teacher and she's the student almost because she has no knowledge, and I get so sick of sitting there after a fill listening to her when it's all stuff I already know. I need advice. I'm not sure what to do. I know it's nice to have free fills for a year, but at what cost? I'm starting to wonder if this surgery was a good idea for me. I feel like I get taken advantage of in every aspect of my life.

Doctor is treading water?

Yes, I agree, better free and slow than 150 each and miserable. Yeah, that does not sound like fun, I am so sorry to hear that! I hope things work out better for you!!! I guess I'm thankful I'm not 2 full and i can still eat and drink pretty much whatever I set my mind to. Let me know how everything goes for you. Thanks for your reply  -

Yes, yall are both right. I think I'm just being impatient and I'm glad he is taking his time to be sure I'm not 2 tight. It would not be fun if I couldn't even drink water. -

Also, the first place where I was originally told I would be getting my free fills at for the first year, they numbed me before a fill and I had no pain, my doctor does not numb me and I have nightmares about how bad it's going to hurt. Not to mention he won't let me see him for another fill for 2 weeks after I get one, even though I know I need one, and they hurt terribly, it's almost not worth it to even get one. -
Yes. was gas pain for me, and as much as walking hurts, it helps over time. I took infant gas drops and walked like no1's business, lol. It hurt like HELL, but it ended up getting the air loose and making it better.

Same here. The first month I was off the shot I lost nearly 20 pounds, and I was still eating like a pig, lol.
-
That's the one I was on for almost 2 years, I gained 60 pounds. And my new gyno explained that one of the hormones in the shot is used to inject in cancer patients doing chemo to give them an appetite. I don't know how true that is though.

I have Implanon. It's an Etonogestrel Implant. It's in the flab of my arm on the inside, and I can barely feel it, it's good for an entire 3 years too (I was never good with taking the pill). When I did the shot, I gained a TON of weight, so that's one I wouldn't recommend. But the Implanon I love. No problems so far, and my periods have been really light, lasting barely 2-3 days.

I hate to have to post this in detail because it's terribly gross and not very lady-like, but I figured I would rather ask yall before I call my surgeon and bother him with it. Yesterday was my first fill, I have 5cc's in a 10cc band, and during my sleep I seem to have, well soiled myself with diarrhea (so gross, I'm so sorry) I didn't have any warning, and I feel like a 6 year old who peed the bed. All I ate yesterday was cream of chicken and chicken broth, I didn't have ANY problems with diarrhea the first 2 weeks after my surgery when I was on liquid only diet, so I don't know what's causing it now, normally my body tells me when I have to go and I have some warning, but the same thing just happened a minute ago when I was sitting on the couch, I had NO warning, and it just happened. God, it's so terribly disgusting, I don't know what to do. Please tell me this is normal and will stop soon, I am completely embarrassed and disgusted, and I don't want to deal with it again.

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling a little better today, finally got the fever down some. The doctor has me on all kinds of pill packs, lol.

eating to much
AllieBearRocks replied to lisadwinniepooh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me I feel really uncomfortable and "stuffed." So far nothing bad has happened like vomiting or anything like that, but just like before I had the surgery I get the same stuffed feeling. -
Well turns out it must be a bug, for the last hour I have been vomiting, and now I have fever. Going to call my family doctor in the morning and get myself looked at. I hope it's not the flu, I do feel pretty terrible right now though.
-
I didn't have to crush pills, I got all my meds in liquid, congrats on your surgery, and you are very lucky to not be feeling any gas pain! That was the worst part of the surgery for me.
-
I left them a voicemail, so I'm waiting for a call now or tomorrow, thanks so much for responding, I don't think it's normal either, it hasn't happened since though, I'm terrified to eat or drink anything other than Water, and haven't left the house all day. Thanks, I hope it's a bug and not band related because this is horribly embarrassing. Thank you. I'll have my boyfriend grab me some on his way home, I hadn't even thought to take anything over the counter, I hardly take anything even for a headache, but if it happens again, I'll be prepared.

I'm 22 and you live in Houston! Minnesota, lol. Nice to meet you.
-
I bought some infant gas reliever and put it in my water, along with gas x and walked around the house a ton, it helped with the pains, and made it easier for me to sleep through the night and not cry out in pain, gl

Little scared, but I know I need it, I have no restriction and I haven't been losing anything. I'll let y'all know how my experience goes when I get out, wish me luck!

First Fill Tomorrow!
AllieBearRocks replied to AllieBearRocks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was may 5th. I haven't started working out yet, not looking forward to it either, lol. I did try the cream of chicken and it went down well so I'm feeling much better. -
Are you harder on yourself?
AllieBearRocks replied to mominkansas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I refuse to even wear a swimsuit, but yes, I am much harder on myself now. I notice all my imperfections and point them out in my head creating unrealistic, toxic thoughts, def not healthy. -

Thanks for your post, I'm going to try watered down cream of chicken, very watered down. -
First Fill Tomorrow!

I'm not gonna lie, I finally drank some water and it had no problems going down. I feel like I'm starving. I had a popsicle and some broth and that kept me at bay for a few hours, but here I am again, tummy growling up a storm. Not sure what else to try, I'm def not going off the docts orders, but man, some mashed potatoes sound amazing. -

Well it went well, didn't hurt at all, although I was numbed, I now have 5 cc's in a 10 cc band, and I'm scared to drink anything. -
