Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits
ethelinga replied to ParaGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hey Courtney! Welcome! I think I only lost 1 or 2 lbs on the Sugar Busters. This diet is meant to shrink your liver more than it is to loose weight in the short period that we are on it. I'll keep you in my prayers on the 30th. I'm sure you will breeze right through it. If you need any help or support or just a smile  , give me a shout. Maybe we'll meet at the next support meeting. Ethel -

Alright Happy Trucker, Yahoo! I am 3 weeks post op and have lost 25 pounds. Down to 215! At this rate I'll be at my goal in no time. I never reached it with my first banding 7 years ago. In fact I might have to get a new goal . Everything seems so different this time around. And boy am I glad to get rid of the reflux! I have had an episode or two of indigestion, but that was bad food choices on my part. A little Malox and it took care of that. No more Nexium! That helps the pocketbook each month. I am thinking about my first fill. I guess I'll shoot for the second week of May. Gotta go, DH is home and we're going grocery shopping for my "soft food" week Ethel -
Only two weeks post op and I am down 20 pounds. I am on my second phase, which is purred foods. I never thought I would eat purred tuna, but today I made a 'tuna salad' with tuna, 1/2 stalk celery, 2T Kraft Miracle Whip Lite and 1T dill relish. Put all of that into my Ninja food processor and whizzed away! I ate 3T of the tuna with 6 Trisket Crisp crackers, chewed well and it was wonderful. I wish I could have put onion in it, but they don't want us eating onion until the fifth week. Anyway, I think I might reach goal this time. At this rate, it will not take me very long! Ethel

Hey Patty, I am doing pretty good today. I am on the purred phase and boy am I glad :smile2:. For your sake I won't go into the details of food as I know you are hungry. Just keep telling yourself that it is only a couple of days until you can eat yogurt and drink Protein drinks. Did you test any Protein Drinks pre-op that you like? I am going to try the stuff that Dr. B is selling in his office. Erica says it tastes pretty good. Keep up the good work and maybe we'll meet soon. Ethel -

Good luck tomorrow. Let us know how things go. Ethel -
I have my own version of dough-less pizza, ok, it is Johnny's Italian New York Style Pizza's restaurant's recipe here in Georgia. 1-One serving size oven proof dish l2-low sugar sauce to cover bottom of dish (I make my own) 3-Ingredients: pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ground turkey, mushrooms, onion, green peppers, olives. Basically what you like on a pizza. 4-cheese. I use regular pizza cheese (I don't eat this every day, my doctor says you need a little fat to digest properly) use low fat cheese if you like. Put sauce in bottom of dish, add ingredients, top with cheese and bake in 400 degree oven until cheese is melted. Dig in! This is truly a dough-less pizza. I can not eat any kind of bread, so if I want pizza this is the way I make it. (or I go to Johnny's and let them make it ). You can make this as low calorie as you want by adjusting the ingredients. HappyTrucker, congratulations and welcome BandSister...lol I'm glad it went well for you. I had Dr. B keep me overnight because I live in Griffin, which is a 3 hour drive. He had no problem with it. I am 14 days out and down 15 pounds...Yahoo! Tomorrow I am starting on purred food. I didn't have a food processor and my blender is so old, I think it is run by gerbil power...lol. Anyway, I bought a Ninja food processor from Walmart and it was a GOOD investment. It works like a charm. It really does what the infomercials say it will. It turns ice into snow, great to mix with all this liquid. Just a little advise, no one told me to drink a lot of Gatorade my first week, they just said that I 'could' have some if I wanted it. Trust me, you need to drink it that first week or you will get weak as a kitten. I found out the hard way. By the fifth day, all I wanted to do was sleep and I felt real wimpy. Also, I found what I consider to be a very good Protein drink at Walmart (for the second week). It is Myoplex, comes in a 4 pack, has 25gms of protein per bottle. It comes in 3 flavors, chocolate Cream, vanilla Cream and strawberry Cream. All three are delicious! What is your first name so that I can introduce myself at the next support meeting. Catch ya later, Ethel -

Hi all, I just found this thread. I was banded by Dr. B seven years ago and lost 110 lbs. I was put on steroids 2 yrs ago for PMR and gained 50 lbs back. I had problems with a hiatal hernia and went to see Dr. B. On March 23rd, he did surgery for the hernia and as a result had to put in a new band, so I am 9 days post op. I had my post op visit today and I've lost 9 pounds already! I am on full liquids now, at last I can have something with taste...lol. Anyway, doing good and I plan on attending the support meetings at Palmyra. I live in Griffin, GA (about a 3 hour drive each way). I trust Dr. Bagnato and wouldn't use any other surgeon. I hope to get to know each of you! Effie -
Hello, my name is Effie and I am 6 days post-op. I had my original band put on 5/30/2003 and lost 110 pounds. Due to an illness in 2008 I was put on prednesone, which I am still taking. I regained 50 pounds. After developing a hiatal hernia and acid reflux I needed surgery and my doctor had to replace my band, so I am considering myself a NEWBIE! It was so long ago that I had the first band put in, I have forgotten a lot and a lot of stuff has changed, so I will need everyone's help adjusting again. Thanks, Effie

Banded on 12/30/2009 and need support
ethelinga replied to Dachsygirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Ladies, a word of encouragement. I was banded for the first time in 2003. It took me almost 2 years to loose 110 pounds. Remember, it took me a lifetime to gain all that weight. I kept it off for 5 years until a sudden illness and steroids caused me to regain 50 pounds over 2 years, not the whole 110, that band was still working hard. I was re-banded on 3/23/10 after having hiatal hernia surgery, so I am starting all over again. Something I learned is "Don't watch the scales!". In fact, I don't own one! I weigh at the doctor and at the Bariatric Center. I judge my weight loss by how my clothing feels. scale watching can drive you crazy and can frustrate you to no end. If you are cutting your portions and eating the right stuff, your band will help you take the pounds off. Trust me, I know and I am going to get rid of that 50 pounds and try for 50 more. Have a Good Day Effie -
hi, new to the forum. had surgery 4 days ago

Hi all, I was banded on the 23rd (actually re-banded, but that is a long story). My doctor put me on Clear liquids for a week and I have had a problem with diarrhea for the past couple of days. I called my doctor's office today and they said to eat some yogurt that the antibiotics might have done in my good bacteria, anyway, ate the yogurt, and everything seems to be back to normal....thank goodness! I am starting on full liquids starting tomorrow for one week, then purred stuff for a couple of weeks. It's funny how doctors do post op stuff differently. Good luck all! Effie -
