What the heck?!?! Why do people say the things that they do?
Debbee replied to gingerjane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im glad Im not the only one that feels this way. I know I am making the right choice for me its just that people are so quick to judge when they know nothing about you. As they say, if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say nothing at all. I will have to inform HR and have told a very close friend but other than my immediate family I dont plan on telling anyone. -
June anyone!?!?!??

OMG!! Endoscopy Next Saturday
Debbee replied to Albertp2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think each doctor is different in the way they proceed. I hear some people talking about a pre-op diet where mine has not put me on any sort of diet. I have lost weight on my own (-18) but now am just waiting to hear from surgeon. I dont know if I can tolerate that damn mask either. The tech had it on so tight it left marks on my face for two days.:scared2: -

Thanks Ladybug51 for the inspiration. I too know I will be faced with those saying Im taking the "easy" way out. But I know in my heart that I am doing this for ME and only ME. I have to develop the mentality to ignore their idiotic comments. Thanks for the inspiration.:scared2: -
New To site starting my Journey..
Debbee replied to msanitaml's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you on the sleep apnea mask. I went for my second sleep apnea test because first one they never even applied mask. Well after second test this year, the mask left a huge imprint on my face that lasted two days. I think the tech tightened it just a bit too much. -
New To site starting my Journey..

Sounds like your process is much quicker than what I am going through. I started in December and am waiting now for surgeon call to schedule surgery. -
New To site starting my Journey..
Debbee replied to msanitaml's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard that it takes approximately six months from the time you started. I started in December 2009 and am now just waiting for word from the surgeon to schedule the surgery. Feel free to email me anytime and we can discuss our process. -
New to the whole thing; not banded yet waiting for surgeon to call to schedule. I am looking for a buddy who can help me through the path I am about to embark on.:frown:

OMG!! Endoscopy Next Saturday
Debbee replied to Albertp2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every place is different. I am going for my endoscopy next week have pre-surgery skills group meetings (4 wks) and exercise instruction (3 wks) then I meet with surgeon followed up with meeting with nutritionist. I also have to go for a sleep apnea test which has also been scheduled next week. I can hear the excitement in your post and want to wish you the best. -
New To site starting my Journey..
Debbee replied to msanitaml's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Anita, I am also new to the site and am just slightly ahead of you on the preparation stage. I have had initial meetings and am now taking the pre-surgery skills group meetings for four weeks then follow up with three weeks of exercise instruction before going back to surgeon. I will be going for tests for sleep apnea in a week and doing a followup endoscopy. I too am looking for information and a buddy to talk to regarding this whole process. I started at a BMI of 40 and have brought it down to 37 since January with a weight loss of about 14 lbs. I was at my all time highest weight ever at 252lbs. I have made up my mind to do this for ME. I have some concerns on telling others only because I dont want to deal with their negativity. Its not about them....its about me. Please keep me updated on your progress and contact me whenever you would like. Debbee:thumbup: -
Well upon my visit in the fall of 2009, my PCP suggested I look into the lap-band. I am pre-diabetic and he said it is only a matter of time. I have dieted many times and have been on the diet rollercoaster. This year my mind is made up. I have decided to reclaim my life back and make it healthier. I have started the process and going to weekly meetings followed by weekly exercise through the hospital. On my own, I have really started since January and have lost a total of about 14lbs to date. It has been a slow and steady process but they say slow is good and it will stay off. The Doc likes to see that you are committed to lose the weight before he will even consider you for the surgery. I have changed my outlook and give myself little reminders all the time that I will succeed. I exercise daily and have the most wonderful husband who supports me. Im new to this whole website stuff so bear with me. I am looking to get some insight from people who have the band and find out how their journey has been. My last class is today and I am trying to get on the exercise class asap so I can keep the momentum moving forward.

What the heck?!?! Why do people say the things that they do?
Debbee replied to gingerjane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the decision is ultimately mine and mine alone but support is also important. Most people who dont have an issue with losing weight will never understand why I am considering this. As I approach 50, I have tried everything under the sun. I have decided that this is my year when I reclaim my life. My question is how do you deal with the negativity you will receive from others who believe your decision is wrong. Im at the point where I want to limit who I even tell just to avoid the lectures. -
How are you feeling?
