HI Do you live in Aurora? Where are you in your Lapbad Journey?
  3. Someone mentioned in a different post thal Old Country Buffet does not honor the lapband cards. I was wondering how often people show them, do most waitstaff know what they are, and how long does it take to get the card. I ordered mine the beginning of april and haven't got it yet
  4. Hi, I was banded just over a week ago 3/25/10 and have had the Mirena IUD in sice 4/13/2009. I have had one period since having it placed but just yesterday started having my period. I have lost about 25 lbs so far. In the past my cycles were always long - 40 + days between periods but I did not have any problems conceiving my 2 children. I was wondering in anyone else has a Mirena and if their periods came back after loosing weight? Thanks

    Need Advice Re: Co-workers

My husband and I were talking about this the other day. There are a few people who know that I recently had surgery that I see infrequently. When they see me next and I am a lot thinner I wonder if they will think I have cancer or some other bad disease.

    Lapband and Mirena IUD

It is inserted through your cervix in to your uterus so there is no way it can fall out. The string is like a piece of thread that hangs a few cm from the cervix. You can hardly feel it and can't see it at all

    Need Advice Re: Co-workers

I told some of my close friends at work and they have been very supportive. Walking with me on lunch and making me things that I could eat during my pre op diet. My office is small and we are a pretty close group so I think they all know I am dieting but not that I had surgery. No one has made any comments about what I've been eating. You don't have to tell you coworkers that you are having weight loss surgery but it may be helpful to tell one or two close trusted friends for their support

    newly banded

Hi Stella. congratulations on getting banded. I was banded on 3/25. How is your recovery going? Mine is smooth so far. I know exactly what you mean about not wanting your kids to be overweight as well. I have 2 girls 4 yrs and 18 months and I see my 4 year old developing some of my bad habits. I had this surgery as much for myself as for them. We will be a health family!! :frown: Good luck to your and your family

    March 25 band date!

HI I was banded on 3/25 as well. I'm feeling pretty good. Hungry at times but no nausea. My port site is sore. especially when I bend over. Does anyone know if I will always feel the port when I bend over? Also, it seems to be at the level of the stroller handle, the crib and other things seem to bump it all the time keeping it sore. I'm hoping that once it heals in won't be so sensitive. Hope everyone is having a speedy recovery.
  11. Hi. My name is Laura. I had my surgery march 25. So far things are going well. I am feeling good with not much pain. So far including insurance mandated dieting I have lost 21 pounds. I have about 98 more to go. The worst thing is that I seem to be a little bit hungery all the time. I'm sure it didn't help that yesterday I was at a conference with lots of food but I was content with my shake for lunch. The waitress even offered to puree something for me. I have 2 small children 4 years and 18 months who I still have to prepare food for. My husband is very proud of my will power. He is a recovering alcoholic so He can relate to how Hard it can be. For me this lifestyle change is a step in the right direction for my whole family. I would never want my girls to be heavy and I can see my oldest adopting some of my old eating habits. I look forward to meeting people here and hope my experience remains posituve
  12. thanks to you all for your replies. Sounds like we all have similar experiences. Having a family sure does put a different twist on things. I remember when I was single it was easier to diet. Just get rid of everything in the house that you didn't want to eat. My mom from out of town has been staying with me this week and doing all the cooking so that has been a big help to keep me away from food. Have you noticed that foods seem to have a more wonderful aroma than before? Now with a family it makes it hard. My husband keeps his junk food at work but it is hard to remember not to finish up after the kids. This had to be not only a commitment for myself but for my husband as well. We have pretty much eliminated candy and unhealthy Snacks from our kids diets (sorry no candy from the easter bunny this year). Just can't have that stuff in the house. My Dr has me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks then I can start a pureed diet for 4 weeks. Where are you all from? I am in the Chicago area Laura
  13. Hi, I am 37 years old with 2 small kids (4 years and 16 months). I am also a working mom. I had my surgery 4 days ago and so far so good. It isn't easy especially with a family. I'd like to find a mentor who has similar experiences to my own Laura
