Is your band failing you or are you failing your band ?
kayeyarnell replied to CoachCher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I enjoyed your post and it was very encouraging. I posted a thread 2 weeks after my band surgery. Now I am 7 1/2 months post op., lost about 97 lbs and on maintainance. I credit my success to journaling my food so I know that I was getting what i needed and knowing if I went over where I made mistakes. Each day is a new day and a chance to do what is right. Good luck to all my band buddies and pray for compiiance for me. Now to not regain the weight is my goal. I have gone from a size 24 jeans to a size 12. Even i can't believe it when i look in the mirrow. God bless. -
Hi group. Well I'm 5 weeks out. Lost about 15 lb with pre-op diet and 17 lbs. post op. People can look and tell a difference. I've done well on all except exercise. I don't mind working outside, weed-eating, gardening, washing windows, but i hate exercise. i know i need to get into a regular plan but have not got motivated. Any suggestions? I've done well on diet, journal, food choice, ect. Thanks  Kaye

Pain under ribs on left side
kayeyarnell replied to finding me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are recent post op the air they put into your abdomen to do the laparoscopy may not yet be absorbed. it can get under your diaphragm and cause discomfort. I am 5 weeks post op and recently did a little more activity and the left side port area is a little sore at times and i thought I just pulled a muscle in that area that i have been protecting for a month.Hope it gets better but call the office for info. The nurses are great, it may take a while for a call back. -
Treating myself to...
kayeyarnell replied to sweetbean70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For you successful people reaching goal I have a question. I am a month out from band surgery. I have only lost about 5 lb. The fancy scales at the office say about 17 lb weight retention and now on some diuretics. I have stuck to the program >60 gm Protein, , 60 gm carbs, < 30 gm fat. Have any of you been that slow with weight? calories have been 400-800 for going on5-6 weeks counting pre-op diet.:confused: -
After first fill 3.2oz in 10oz band
kayeyarnell replied to affengirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surg was on March 17th so I am about 4 weeks out, no fill yet. I have played around with several Proteins. unjury makes a chicken Soup and an unflavored protein supplement. I put the unflavored 1 scoop per pkg of diet Jello so if i am a little short on protein at night it is 10 gm protein per cup of jello. My favorite is a vanilla from the whole food store , i think it is their brand, My daughter gets it for me in Nashville. I mix a scoop with a cup of oj, add a lot of ice and 1 pkg sweetener and it taste like an orange julius. Great on a summer day and not very sweet at all. Yum Yum:tt2: -
What can I take for allergies??
kayeyarnell replied to stamich0830's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called my Dr. office and they said any over the counter that does not have NSAIDs would be OK. Some comes in liquid form so no pill to crush. You can not crush the extended release tabs. Check with pharmcy if unsure.:smile2: -

Banded March 26th!!!
kayeyarnell replied to BriBri90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am ahead of you guys so I guess a have the experience. I was banded march 17th. I gained 5 lb in the hospital. It took me 5 days to loss that. In the last 9 days I've lost 8 lbs. That is good but a friend I meant in class had surg. the 16th and she has lost 27lbs, I am older that Sharon so I guess a slower metabolic rate . I have journaled every bite and sip of fluid. Going to the dietician today. I have stayed where they want with fluid, protein, and carbs. I know I need to pick up on the exercise, I have done some walking. After 1 week I have felt great but don't think I can get out and do yard work yet. I ask all for prayers of patience and compliance. -
On liquids, maybe mushies tomorrow. I have journaled amts of liquids, proteins, carbs, and calories. Stuck to the diet but have ONLY lost 6 lbs since surg ., 2 weeks. Calories per day 400's-800's. Cant't believe I haven't lost more than this. Am I just impatient?

Is your band failing you or are you failing your band ?
kayeyarnell replied to CoachCher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for the pep talk. I had my lap-band surgery 2 weeks ago. I am trying to get food out of my mind, I keep telling myself later I can have my old foods. I hate to exercise and I am able but i've always made excuses. You have helped me realize i will have to get some sort of regular exercise program. I have a long way to go but being able to read your experiences has helped me realize what direction I need to be focus on. Thanks again.
