I have since my 20's and especially after my first child not controlled my weight gain. A little here , a little there kept adding up . I am not a physically fit person. never have been, don't like to exercise but do like working outside and swimming is great. As an adult I tried Weight Watchers multiple times, Tops {a christians oriented support group], LA Weight Loss several times, Diet-weight loss classes at the local hospital, hypnotism, and health clubs [which i didn't like so i didn't faithfully attend]. All my health issues at age 60 are related to obesity. I have high BP, worn out arthritic knees, leaking bladder, sleep apnea, and general fatigue. My medical doctor finally ask if i ever considered bariatric surgery? He gave me a handout and i started looking at my options, I know the Lap-Band is not suppose to give as rapid results and more difficult to foolow your diet but it seemed less invasive to me so I went through the process and had surgery after 7 months on March 17th, 2010. I am 2 weeks post op at this point and afraid of failure in the future because I have failed at this all my life. I tell my friends I need prayers for compliance [with my diet] and patience [with slow weight loss] so i don't get discouraged. Hopefully I can add onto my weight loss story in a few months with a successful story.
