My ultimate goal is to do cardio morning & evening and weights 3 x's per week. I'm having a hard time getting up at 5 am, but I am doing it in the evenings. I set my alarm every morning, however, I just push snooze and go back to sleep.:notagree -

Bfast - Cottage Cheese & strawberries Lunch - 2.7 oz container of pink salmon with (dry) with 4 whole wheat crackers Dinner - 4 or 5 oz of baked chicken breast with shredded cheese on top Snack - 1 part skim string cheese and a handful of popcorn Water - 48 oz Supplements - Viactiv multi vitamin Exercise - 20 min HIIT on elliptical (pm exercise) Notes - Scale is up, but that is okay, I feel smaller, my DH commented last night how much skinnier I am looking. A lady from work also commented yesterday at how much weight I am still losing. I know the scale is not a measure of my success. I am happy with my progress and I know the scale will start moving again. I'm trying to focus on doing cardio morning & night and I am going to ask my doctor tomorrow if I can start weight training. I'm ready to kick some major butt and get into shape! I want to have some maximum results by this summer! I want to be down another 30 lbs or more by vacation time (cruise in August).

Bfast - 3/4 container of SF Yogurt with some granola snack - 15 almonds Lunch - 4 wholewheat crackers and somewhere between 1/4 & 1/2 cup of hummus dip Dinner Exercise - 15 min on treadmill durring break 3.0 mph, 109 cal, 3% incline, .74 miles - Water - Supplements - 1 viactiv multi-Vitamin, 1 liquid B-12 Notes - I went to my regular physician today, I broke the news to her that I had the Lap-Band, I was happy she was supportive and she told me she is thinking about having it done. She looked at my chart and said we show you gained 11 lbs, but then she saw the date of my last visit (over a year ago), I explained to her that I always yo-yod and on my last visit to her I weighed 200 lbs, that was May of 2006, By November 2006 I was up to 248 lbs. Anyhow, I had the Prealbumin (Malabsorption test) done, I won't know the results until Friday, and I will pick them up to take them to my surgeon and discuss a fill on March 1st. I should not have the Malabsorption test since I did not have Bypass, however, my surgeon requires it with all his patients, even lap-band. Sad note, my great aunt who is 87 years old is dying. She has never been married nor does she have any kids. Matter of fact, she has never even been on a date. So, needless to say, we are her kids/grandkids. So, we've been taking turns to be by her side during the time of passing. Hospice has been called in and they will stop giving her fluids beginning tomorrow, only pain meds under her tongue to help with the pain and keep her comfortable. Anyhow, I know there will be lots of food from the church, family & friends, so I'm trying to get prepared and not cave in to all the goodies. Stressful times and grief always makes me want to eat, I turn to food so I'm working on not turning to food during this time.

Bummer! Will they let you come pick the records up? This might save some time, and also you would have the records in your hand for future reference if needed. Good-Luck and sorry to hear about the frustration.

Hello everyone, just doing a quick swing by. I had some kind of stomach bug on Thursday, sicker than anything Thursday & Friday, then Thursday afternoon my great aunt died, so I was out of town at her funeral on Saturday. I come into work today and a co-worker I've worked with for 10 years died in his sleep. I'm just so emotional drained. He leaves behind a 10 & 5 year old boys and a wife. We found out he had coronary artery desease (sp), so basically, he had blockage and a heart attack. He was not overweight at all, and 49 years old. I weighed this morning and I've gained 2 lbs from last week. I find myself snacking a bit more than usual, not too much, but I can tell I'm eating more than 1/2 cup now, so Ithink my restriction has finally left me and I'm ready for a fill. Well, I gotta run, lots of work to get done here at work. I will try and check in later.

Mary - you my friend have accomplished what so many of us really need to do, focus on our health and not our weight. This is a major NSV. Congratulations!

Hello, I was banded a little over a month ago and things are going great. The band does not fix the head hunger, and I know you will hear this, but it is only a tool. We (you) will have to work hard, it is not easy! But, the work is so worth the results you get! I am loving my band, and I love the progress I am making.

Will my surgeon put the port on the side I want him to?
tonya66 replied to kyethra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You need to explain this to the surgeon, I know that some surgeons place the port in the middle, or upper middle. This is something the surgeon will have to decide. He should be able to place the port in a different position from where your nerve problem is. But you need to make sure you discuss this with him. Good-Luck. -
Your only a failure if you give up, and you have not given up, you should be very proud of yourself. You have the right attitude. The band is not easy, but it can help. Our biggest enemy is ourselves. Fighting with the head hunger, the cravings etc, thats the tough part of our job. I know you will succeed because you are determined. Please come to the forum and seek support so everyone can help you. I wish you the best!

Yes, no doubt about it, we are all needing a fill. I have been worried about my eating and thinking I can't eat that much, but I noticed yesterday, I was getting hungry sooner. Like every 2 hours. So, I think I'm finally losing my restriction. I also notice I could eat just a little more yesterday. So, I think I might be ready for a fill myself on March 1. Everyone that is going thru bandster hell, hang in there until you get your fill. In the meantime, try and make good food choices, eat more of healthy stuff instead of junk. I go to the doc and get my blood work today, my surgeon requires it before they will give me a fill.

surviving the liquid stage
tonya66 replied to x-ray chic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The liquid stage SUCKS. However, you need to keep in mind WHY you have to do it. Everytime I was tempted to cheat, I remember a lady who ate a piece of steak on her liquid stage, which caused major problems with her band, she had to have it removed and the doc refused to put it back in. That seemed to keep me on track. The mushies I did find on. The first week on liquids is not that bad, you really don't feel like eating anyhow. The key is to sip on your Protein shakes, and I drank better than bullion. You have to keep in mind, the liquid stage is for the bands on good, you don't want to risk hurting the band. -
My doctor told me I would only be able to eat a few bites for th first couple of weeks, and there is no way that I could get all my Protein in and I would have to work up to it. I am now almost 5 weeks post op and still working on it, but almost there! The important thing is not to get dehydrated. Sip as often as you can. Every 15 min, my doc had me set a timer for 15 min and I was to sip. That seemed to work. I am now consuming around 50-60 oz, which is still a struggle but getting better. The port pain lasted for about 2 weeks for me, now I cannot feel it except there is one tiny stitch I can still feel. I'm going to ask my doc about it at my next visit.

Obesity Debate w/Coworker; Progress?
tonya66 replied to TheCascadian's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well said my friend, well said! -
I had my band done in the US, however, If I were to go to Mexico, I would choose Dr. Ortiz in a heartbeat! I am reading his book "Lap Band for Life". He has the support of a lot of US docs here, he knows his business. I've heard nothing but good things about him and he has trained many of the US docs. - thats my 2 cents - I've never met the man, I just know of his reputation. Even my doctor said he is one of the best there is. Before you give any money, talk to some of the people here who have been to Mexico and got banded. There is a girl in my January group - you can see the link to the thread under my signature - BabygotBack is her name, and she had her surgery in Mexico. I would check with other bandsters to find out if they had to pay money up front.

I'm so proud of you!

I just went over and read the thread about the February 2006 bandsters. I can't believe the one lady went from a size 20 to a size 1! The other blonde lady went from 215 down to 135 - I can't wait until January 2008 to see where we are all at! My goal was to lose 50-60 lbs the fist year, and another 50-60 the 2nd. However, I think I'm changing that to lose 75 the first year, and 25 the second. I know the Window of Opportunity is within the first 18 mos to 2 years. (Window of opportunity means the time it is the easiest to lose weight with the band - after the window closes, its a lot harder, but it can be done.). So, have any of you set goals on how much you want to lose the first year?
-
Shawn, I totally agree with you, support is the key. Studies show that those Bandsters who joined an online support group or attended support meetings were twice as likely to succeed. The success rate was far greater than those who did not have any type of support. I'm here for the long run! Also, I read that those who kept journals are more successful - so I'm also doing an online journal in this forum. Another key point to success is exercise - So my goal this week is to exercise for 30 min a day for 5 days, I've done 2, so 3 more to go. (I want to do 6 days). I'm going to have to go read the thread about the February 2006 Bandsters! We will have to do the same thing next year! Everyone can come back and write their success stories.

I'm totally jealous of your trip! Or I guess I should envious, I love Mexico, expecially in the winter, when its cold here, its warm there! Glad you had a nice trip, the gain will be off in no time!
