    January Bandsters???

    Just checking in, I have a lot of catching up to do......so behind on reading my post. I got my first fill today! I can feel some major restriction already. I haven't lost any weight since the 18th, so I'm hoping this will get me going again. I got 2.2 cc's in my 4cc band under flouro, it was weird watching it, but in a cool kind of way. Will come back later.........I gotta read all these post, I'm so behind!

    3/6/07 update

    I haven't posted my menu lately, just too busy to even get online. My husband is doing a cleanse, so I decided I would do it with him. So I started it yesterday, is completely liquids, no food. I have my first fill today, I'm so excited. My doctor requires liquids for 5 days after a fill, so I thought it would be a good time to do my cleanse. I'm hoping to lose a little weight with the cleanse too! I will post later about my fill experience. I did make it to the gym 5 times last week! I am happy with that. Still working on getting up in the AM and so far, just can't do it.

    Thanks Babygotback - What supperb information! I go for my 1st fill next week (the 6th). Good to know that we should be well hydrated. I need to call the hospital back, I think they told me nothing to eat or drink. But they could have said just eating was a no-no. I need to call back and clarify.

    When does it become fun?

    About 3 weeks out. It takes 21 days of doing something to make it a habit. Once it is a habit, you can't live without it! I too HATE to get up in the am to exercise, but in the past when I did it, it took about 3 weeks, then I began to crave it. Fake it, until you make it!

    3/2/07 menu

    One thing I want to do in my journal is be COMPLETELY honest about what I eat, even if its bad. I just want to be able to look back on my journal and say, oooo thats why I didn't lose, or wow, I did great - so here goes my menu for today: Breakfast - cottage cheese mixed with 1/2 container of LC yogurt Lunch - Ham chef salad - ranch dressing on the side. Salad had about 340 calories, dressing had 75 cals. I ate all my salad, but it was a small side type salad that had ham on it. snack - string cheese Dinner - Oh boy.....we went out to eat at this Amish buffet - need I say more? Okay, I'll try and list what I ate - 2 1/2 small pieces of FRIED catfish dipped in taurter sauce, about 3 bites of a meatloaf (very good) about 4 bites of salad, a bite of green beans, 2 bites of sour krout, two sips of water, a bite of chocolate cake, two bites of peanut butter pie, a bite of my DH's coconut cream pe - so basically 4 bites of sweats (pies/cakes), not too bad, but not that great. In the past I would have eaten 4 pieces of pies. I again, ate a bit too much, but not miserable, just full. Water - 50 oz Exercise - 20 min Elliptical machine (HIIT) Supplements - 2 thermo Dynamx before breakfast, 1 multi vitamin, B-12. 2 more thermo dynamx before lunch Notes - I wanted to add another thing to my journal about my binge last night. Although yes, it was a binge - 8 cookies is not a little snack, it was a binge, I learned something. I learned that in the past, after one of my usual binges, I would wait an hour or so, then go back for more. I did not do that last night. My tool helped me STOP the binge. I usually will go on a binge for DAYS. Once I have a binge, there is no stopping me, however, my tool did stop me. I was miserable last night, and today I am still thinking I do not want to feel that way again. So, my tool did help me. As punishmet, I decided I would step on the scales to show myself what the binge did to me. I was quite surprised to see I had lost another pound. So, I was happy that the binge did not make me go up in weight.

  9. The key to success is challenging yourself. 30 min 3 times a week is a great start. As time goes on, you can improve and push yourself. I was only able to start out at about 15 min 2 times per week. So the key is to START, no matter if its 1 time per week, or whatever, we will each improve as time goes on. I've added you to our list!
  10. I noticed you lost 3 pounds by your ticker - CONGRATS! Your doing so good, I'm a bit envious. :whoo: I've added the newbies to our list - we're going to have a GREAT MARCH. Hey, I've got an idea, how about an all out - kick some butt - major focuss - don't let up - Easter Challenge. We can all commit to give it our all until Easter - then we can see what % of weight we lost. By commiting ourselves, to 3 to 5 days a week of exercise, from today until Easter, I would be anxious to see how much % of weight we each lose. Whose up for it? I have to get my fill - SOON. Tonight, not sure what in the world came over me, but I overdosed on girl scout Cookies . Now I'm in pain, my port area for overeating. hopefully, I've learned my lesson!

    scarey news

    The good news, once you lose weight - USUALLy the sleep apnea will disappear or greatly improve. I too found out that I had sleep apnea. I'm sleeping with a Cpap machine and I tell you, I can tell a difference.
  12. I just got back from the doctor, he said I could start out lifting some small hand weights, BUT NOT MACHINES until 8 weeks, and absolutely no ab exercise until 12 weeks. argggg. I was wanting to go an abs-abs-abs exercise class at my gym next week. They have them and they are only 15 min long and they work nothing but your abs. I guess I'll have to wait on that. Okay, he said I do need a fill, even though I've done GREAT he states on my weight loss, I've not lost anything since the 18th, and I'm actually up to 212 on his scales (I had eaten lunch, had on jeans & boots), so he said that I will need my fill. He faxed over the orders for a fill to the hospital radiology center and they immediately called me within 30 min and scheduled my appt. I go next Tuesday at 12:30. However, they told me I couldn't eat anything or drink anything after midnight the night before. Is that normal? Do they make you fast before a fill? Babygotback - how is your fill at 1.2 cc's? Do you feel some restriction? I am kinda bummed about the scale moving the WRONG direction. However, I promise I've been good. I'm only eating grilled chicken or fish, no carbs (or hardly any carbs), and exercising. Why am I not losing. Here comes all those fears again (will this work for me, will I fail? Is this another diet attempt only to fail?) Anyhow, I've got to get these negative thoughts out of my head and know this WILL WORK. Okay, I'm thru venting. I will check back later. Everyone, have a great "sweating your butt off" day. Literally. lol. Work it girls!

    Can someone talk to me about Lap-band?

    I highly recommend ready the book, Lap-band for life by Dr. Ortiz. Or, Weight loss surgery for Dummies, I've also rady Achieving permenant weight loss with Lap-Band. All three of these books are good, the first two being the best. It really explains what Living with the band really is. I refer to the books often now that I am banded. It's not easy living with the band, and they all tell you, you have to make life changes. This you really need to understand. I love my band, and I am so happy I went thru with the surgery, I was so afread too. But, it is the safest wls there is. No doubt about it. Would I do it again - in heart beat!

    Tracy - yep, we're all facing the same problem. I was a little bummed because the last 2 weeks, I have not lost. I was losing so fast, and now, notta, nothing, zippo! I have actually GAINED - Even though I am still eating probably around 1000 calories (if that many). But I do feel skinnier, so I'm really not worried. I go to the doctor today. I am hoping he will say I can have a fill! Just a remeinder to everyone - we have started a January Bandster Exercise challenge thread - so come join us! The thing that I am starting to really realize is this is going to be a long journey for me, the losing weight that is. I know that I knew this before, but I don't think it really sunk into my head. I lost really fast the first few weeks, and I think deep in my mind I was thinking - oh, this is going to be easy. But now, after working out, sweating, dealing with head hunger, trying to avoid chocolate, eating slow, chewing well, turning down ice cream (yesterday's NSV), reading everything I can on Lap-Band, I think it has finally sunk in, this is NOT going to be easy. This is going to take a lot of work, and I believe it is going to be a long journey to get to my goal weight. But thats okay, I know I will do it. I believe we all need support and should come back to the thread often, even if we fall off the wagon, we need to fake it until we make it!

    Breakfast - 4 oz cottage cheese with 4 tblsp of lc yogurt mixed in (12 grams of protein) Lunch - grilled chicken (left over from the salad yesterday) and 2 slices of avocado Snack - string cheese Dinner - 1 FRIED chicken breast (I took the skin & crust off) TRUE CONFESSION TIME - I overdosed on girlscout cookies - I'm so mad at myself. I had 5 trefolds (150 calories - 20 g of carbs), and 3 thin mints - about (110 calores - 11 g of carbs), 1 cup of 2% milk - BAD BAD Water - 50 oz - not enough Supplements - 2 Therno Dynamx before breakfast, 1 multi vitamin, Liquid B-12 Exercise - NONE Notes - What in the heck did I do to myself? I feel miserable, I ate way too much tonight, and the cookies did not help at all. Now I am in pain, my port area hurts. I know I have over ate and I WILL NOT do this again. I can't believe I did this to myself. I need a fill - BADLY. And I must deal with my emotions rather than turning to COOKIES (MY weakness is sweets). I'm glad today is over, tomorrow will be a better day! On the bright side, I had my 6 week follow up appointment with my doctor. He said How well I've been doing on my weight loss, I explained to him, most of my weight loss came from my 1st two weeks, then he said "Oh, well, I guess your not doing too well after all" - He told me I need a fill - duh. So, I'm scheduled for my fill on Tuesday, March 6th at 12:30. I have to fast before my fill. It will be with the radiology dept at the hospital. It will be interesting what my first fill will do for me. I hope I can get back to losing weight. I don't want to gain - I need to lose. I think that is why I turned to cookies tonight. i was feeling so down - but I must learn to deal with my emotions. I have to change my behavior.

  17. Good-Morning everyone! I feel like I am having a WONDERFUL exercise week. So far, I have exercised everyday this week. I'm still trying to get up in the am, but so far, I just can't seem to do it. Next week, there must be some changes in that! I got the aerobic schedule at my gym, and there are several classes that begin at 5:45 am, so I'm going to try and make them next week. I made it to the gym last night and had a great workout on the treadmill, I go to the doctor today and I'm going to ask about lifting weights. I'm hoping to start weight triaing 3 x's per week, cardio 5 x's per week. I want to get skinny! I got my carbello's catalog in the mail yesterday and it is full of this seasons bathing suits. We are planning our cruise Aug. 5th, so I want to at least lose another 30 lbs by then. Right now the weight has crept up in the past 2 weeks, I have not lost, I've gained abuot 4 lbs, then I lost 1 of those back. I don't feel like I'm eating much, if you look at my menu in my journal, you can see that I eat pretty healthy, lean fish, chicken, yogurt, etc. Anyhow, I started taking fat buring pills/matobilism booster today. So, we'll see what happens. I hope my doctor will okay a fill today. I don't think I will get it today, but this is just a checkup to see if I am ready for one, if he okay's it, then the hospital will make my appointment. Okay, I'm off to work............

We can either keep a our own journal with our meals, or if you guys want to post it here, we can do that too. Whatever you guys want.
  21. Gigi - girl you go! 45 min on the Elliptical is great, I'm only able to do 20 min. Okay, I'm so motivated to exercise, I've been twice, Monday & Tuesday night. So today, on break, I take a 15 min break and walk 1 mile briskly. So, I'm going to take every opportunity to get as much exercise in as possible. I will also go exercise tonight at the gym. Lets report on Monday's what we accomplished the previous week - i.e. how many times we exercised, no matter what type of exercise, exercise is exercise. We all just need to challenge ourselves. Keep a promise to ourselves and exercise. The Lap Band book I have says we should get 30 min every day. Or strive for 5 x's a week. I'm striving for that, but I think we have to build ourselves up to that. In the past, I find that when I exercise, the more I exercise, the more I crave it. It starts to become second nature to you. Its just hard getting into the swing of it. It takes 3 weeks to make it a habit, so remember that.
  22. A lot of people will lose during the liquid/mushy stage, but once solid food comes back into the picture, it is normal to gain some weight back, if not all. I went to a support meeting and the lady asked the doctor this very thing, he said it is perfectly normal to gain. The weight loss really doesn't start until you have some restriction. IN the mean time, you have to survive off will power. Make healthy food choices. Do your best until you can have a fill. Good-luck!

    Cindi - welcome! I will add you to the list - I'm behind on the list and really need to catch up. Hopefully I will have some time to do it tonight. Congrats on your weight loss so far. You were banded a day after me!
