    January Bandsters???

Chris, Take time for yourself - your worth it. I know how it goes, busy busy busy, I try and just carry a water bottle with me EVERYWHERE, I keep on in my purse at all times, this helps me in getting my water in - Also, I have portable protein bars handy to eat, that way I've got something quick and semi healthy to eat if I'm out and about. I can't wait to see what your results are on Friday!

Weight - 201 :clap2: Breakfast - early early cleansing tea/then had some yogurt & cottage cheese mixed Lunch - 2 chicken strips (grilled) Dinner - 1 cup of salad with 1 grilled chicken strip Exercise - Well, no gym, but worked my butt off around the house and yard! I call that exercise - back is killing me Notes - I ate more than usual today, but noticed hungrier today. I think the band is tighter some days, today, not as tight. I got several compliments at work today, telling me how good I'm looking (no one knows I had WLS).

    January Bandsters???

No - you should not be waking up from hunger. That does suck! I do know that when I got my fill, at first 2.0 cc's was tight, then he lowered it to 1.8 cc's and it went right thru the band, then he raised it back to 2.0 ccs and it went thru faster. He said sometimes the body adjust to the fills and compensates, in other words, the body is smart and will make it easier for it to digest the food. So he then raised it to 2.2 cc's, its amazing what just .2 cc's can do. When can you get another fill? I'm supposed to go back in April. He also said as we lose weight, sometimes just 10 lbs, can make us lose some of our restriction - we lose fat around the stomach area, hence making the band loser. I was going to cancel my fill appointment for 4/5, however, I decided I will wait until closer, just in case I lose some restriction. It sounds like your making the right choices with the 2 cups of food, either way, does it still seem like your eating less now than before the band? I know they say as long as your eating 1/3 of what you were eating before, you should lose weight. Hang in there - I've heard also sometimes the band gets tighter at 1 or 2 weeks after a fill, so maybe you will get tighter. Babygotback said that happened to her if I remember correctly.

    Positive Support

Deb - I know EXACTLY how you feel. I started researching the lap-band proceedure and it seemed I saw a lot of "complications" or people "complaining". But the thing that most of them said is they don't regret it. There were some that did, but the majority did not. I think people tend to post the negative only because this is a support forrum and they just need some answers to some of their concerns. I finally decided I would do the surgery and so far it has been wonderful, I keep waiting for the PB to happen, or the slime, and so far nothing. I feel great restriction, can only eat 1/2 cup of food, but the weird thing is, I can take regular bites. I can practically swallow my food without chewing it, I have not gotten anything stuck or even come close to it, but I still have great restriction. I guess I'm a lucky one. As of today, I am down 46 lbs since starting my pre-op diet. I know the weight loss will slow down eventually, but until then, I've enjopying the ride. I also try and follow the rules, even though I can swallow my food whole (I've done it a few times without thinking), I make a conscious effort to slow down and chew well. I also eat my Protein first - usually chicken breast & fish, and I exercise at least 30 minutes 5 to 6 times a week (I usually get 45 min in or more). I don't take my surgery for granted and I do view the band as a tool to help my with my struggle with obesity. I wish this forum had a section for success stories only, I know they have before & after pictures, but it would be nice for the ones that have been banded for 1 year or more to post their success story, what they ate, if they exercised, their struggles etc for the new ones to veiw. Anyhow, I wish you the best and feel free to PM with any questions or concerns.

    January Bandsters???

Sheila, I haven't experienced the slime yet, although I've heard it isn't fun. You need to make sure you share this with your doctor. I've heard the slime develops when food is a bit stuck, its your bodies way of helping the food lube and go thru - not sure if that is correct or not, but that is what I've heard. Yes, my doctor told me no straws because they can cause air to build up. I just drink from my water bottle.

    January Bandsters???

LOL! Although at times I would like to sell my kids and divorce my husband, and definitely quit my job - none of the above. Here is how I do it - I "try" and get up in the am - I did manage it twice last week - and I do my cardio in the am, usually 45 min. Then I have a job that has no one looking over my shoulder, and I just take a break at either 10 or 3 and we have a gym in our building, I go and try and get 20 to 30 min in on the treadmill or elliptical. Then I go in the evening - I usually don't get 3 x's in, but I have, I usually manage 2 x's a day. I'm trying to do Telly's Maximum results. I'm a little burned out from my workouts this weekend, so I am taking today off and hitting the gym tomorrow. Also the time change has not agreed with me. PS - what type of band do you have? 4cc's or 10 cc's? I'm at 2.2 cc's, I know everyone is dfferent on their restriction, but it is giving me great restriction but not so much that I PB. I just notice by 1/2 cup of food, I'm done.

    January Bandsters???

Wow - everyone is doing great. My first fill was 6 days ago, and it seems that it has gotten tighter. Its not too tight, but I notice it is tighter. I weighed in this morning and I am now at 201.8, getting so close to the 199 mark and I'm so excited! I try and workout 2 times a day (cardio), but sometimes only make it 1. And sometimes, I'm able to get in 3 cardio sessions. I'm ready to start some strength training, but my doctor still won't let me! Anyhow, time to go change my ticker..........everyone have a great day!

My weekly weigh in (even though I step on the scales a few times during the week) 201.8. Yay, I'm getting closer and closer to 199! Breakfast - Cleansing tea Lunch - salad (dressing on side), grilled chicken breast Dinner - German chocolate cake - bad I know, but my son's best friend made it for me to thank me for calling AAA (He locked his keys in his car). I felt I had to eat it, but only ate a very small piece. Exercise - I decided I'm taking the day off - having a few pains and the time change has done a wonder on me - so tired today! Notes - I was so tired today. The time change has really affected my mood/energy level. Will try and get into bed before midnight tonight.

    TamifromAL - your pictures!!! WOW

Tami - I went and printed out your pointers from you blog and following them to a "T". You have done so great and still doing great! I love the statement in your blog, Just because you can, doesn't mean you should". That is so true. I read a lot of threads where people are saying "I can still eat an entire whopper or Big Mac meal", Hello - why are you even "trying" to eat that junk! Anyhow, its a huge pet peave of mine! I know we all have slips, but move on after a slip. Anyhow, again, congrats on your wonderful progress.
  17. Okay - I didn't hit my 5x's this week, however, I did make it 4. Next week will be better.

I woke up around 8:00 am, got ready and headed to the gym! Exercise - 44 min on treadmill, varied from 3.2 to 3.4 mph, 3.2 incline, burned 320 calories, 2.22 miles. I went BACK to the gym for an evening session, however, I was a bit sore so I didn't work as hard and just did it at a nice pace - 35 min on treadmill, 2.7 mph, 170 calories, 1.52 miles. Total calories burned today = 490 Breakfast - cleansing tea Lunch - salad with some grilled chicken breast on it. No dressing Dinner - cleansing PS - the scales showed 202! I'm so close to onderland, I can smell it!

    January Bandsters???

I had some tenderness too, it last a few days then went away. I think because he kept pushing on my port and then had to hold it in place while he gave me the fill (the port kept slipping when he was trying to insert the needle into it). I have great restriction, but not so much that I have come close to getting food stuck. We went out to eat Friday night and I got a salad from the salad bar (dressing on the side) and usually I eat about 2 bowls of the salad. I wasn't able to eat even one, then the manager gave me a to go box. I have made 4 meals out of one salad. I used to eat the entire thing, plus another bowl. Wow, I was a pig! LOL.

    TamifromAL - your pictures!!! WOW

losingjusme - I ditto your statement - but, don't under estimate yourself, you too are doing GREAT - and your pictures are amazing. You continue to inspire me everyday! I love you guys! PS - Yes, I'm a little emotional tonight - must be getting close to PMS time. My son just got his drivers license Friday, and when the instructor took him out to give him the driving test, I started bawling like a baby, I couldn't control myself. I was so embarrased, I didn't realize I was going to get so emotional over my son getting his license. LOL.
  22. I just told my husband today "I love my tool", he said "what are you talking about?". I explained to him, my tool is my band. Anyhow, I love the fact it WON'T let me overeat/binge. Trust me, I tried it a few times, it forces me to stop. I'm learning more and more everyday how to deal with my stress, and binging is not the answer. The band helps keep me on track! Even when I splurged and had 8 girlscout cookies - in the past, my binge would have been the ENTIRE box, and I would have binged for days. The band stopped me from doing that!

Cancer is back...No lapband for me

You are right, the most important thing for you right now is to beat the cancer! You have a wonderful motivation, your son. I truly am sorry to hear this for you, cancer is so viscious, but it CAN BE BEAT! You sound like a strong, intelligent woman, so I have not doubt you will beat this. It will be hard for you - the treatments, but I know you can do it. Please know that there will be prayers from all over the country/world for you. I wish you the best!
