Yay, I got up this morning at 5 am and exercised! I set my alarm and put it in another room so I would have to get out of bed to turn it off. It worked!
-
Here is the rule to follow - Are you full for 4 hours or more after eating, do you eat 6 to 8 oz of food per meal? If you eat more than that, you need a fill, if you find yourself being hungry before 4 hours, you need another fill. The hardest thing about the band is to quit eating BEFORE you get that full feeling, if you eat until you get the full feeling, you've eaten too much, usually I find 20 min later, I'm miserable. I try and eat for 20 minutes, after 20 minutes, I quit. Its hard, very hard, because I'm not to that "pre-banding full feeling", however, after I quit, 20 to 30 min later, I am really full. It takes that long for your stomach to tell your brain that you are full. Also, I'm working on measuring my food out and this way I will not over eat. I am finding that I can eat more than I did a month ago, and I know I'm ready for just a little more of a fill. I'm waiting on the hospital to call me now so we can schedule it. I don't need much because I still have restriction, but just need a bit more.
-
When did you have surgery? Are you eating less than before surgery? Then the band is working if you are. You might not be to the "sweet spot" yet but that is when the fills come in. If you eat slow, chew well and eat for 20 min and then stop. Thats the rule I try and use

Just been so busy at home, at work and everything. I haven't made it to the gym the last few weeks because I've been doing a major remodeling job at my house. DH & I totally redid two bedrooms, including new carpet, paint, light fixtures, window treatments, the whole nine yards. They look great! Now that they are finished, I went to the gym yesterday morning. I managed to do 35 min on treadmill, burned 223 calories. I will be going tonight too.

Hello everyone, long time since I've been able to get online. We've been doing a major remodeling job at home, we just completed 2 rooms now. And needless to say, the gym was the last thing on my mind. But, now that we've completed them, I went back to the gym yesterday and will be going tonight. I am also waiting for the hospital to call me to schedule my 2nd fill. Seems that I've lost restriction a bit and want to be a little tighter. Will check back later. -

I am so excited, I woke up (by the way - TOM is here and going strong) so I didn't want to weigh, but decided I would anyhow and not get depressed if the scales showed way up. Omg...i Gotta Stop Reading

I did the same thing, although I think we should all be informed, and it is a serious surgery, so you should know the complications, but you should also seek out and find the success stories too. I went thru the lap band journals and read, I also looked at all the before/after photos. I went thru the same thing, and let me tell you, I'm glad I had my surgery. I'm down 50 pounds! I had my surgery 1/18/07 - just 2 months ago. -
Loss of a good friend by her choice
tonya66 replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like Charlotte has some depression issues, or something else is going on. Perhaps she is feeling a little jealous of your new banded life? Maybe you should send her a letter and explain what her friendship means to you and you would like to work out the difference, that is all you can do. She has to give some too. But at least you will know that you tried your best. Sorry for your loss, I know good friends are hard to come by and losing one after 25 years would be difficult to handle. -
I went thru the same thing, I would lose real fast, then nothing from 3 to 4 weeks. I had my first fill at 7 weeks, then lost again. I think the body has to catch up or somthing. Not sure what is going on, I just know I lose for a few weeks, really fast, like 10 lbs, and then nothing for a few weeks. Here is a great article http://www.carbsmart.com/outout.html As far as Protein, I think my doc prefers me to stay away from bread, so I am not eating sandwiches, and I know a lot of bandsters have problems with bread. I would avoid them If you can, try lettuce wraps instead, I buy the leafy grean lettuce and make wonderful wraps out of them. I think most docs prefer you to have a lean protein, like fish, chicken, turkey, or lean beef, eat that, then a few veggies, and if you have room a bite or two of starch/carbs (that is IF you have room), I find if I eat my protein, I have no room. The lab band diet is basically low carb/high protein diet in my oppinion. It is confusing, but give it some time, before you know it, you will be a professional long term bandster! Here is another great artical about living with the band http://www.lapbandlifestyle.com/Pages/LapBandLifestyleRulesroad.shtml

Bfast - SF yogurt, low fat cottage cheese mixed Lunch - Dinner - Exercise - Notes - I took the day off yesterday and ate what I wanted, I had some of those 100 cal Reeses snack packs a few times yesterday (one for breakfast), and ate a fried chicken tender (My moms fried chicken) for lunch & dinner. I usually don't eat fried stuff, but Hey, I took a day off. lol. I didn't exercise, I didn't even care yesterday. I'm back to eating right and eating light today and will be exercising tonight. I am going to try and take my 2 month post op pic tonight.

The VG band is referred to as 10 cc a lot of time, because it holds up to 10 cc's. The 10 CM band is referred to as 4 cc band at times. There is a difference. I have the 10 cm band, which holds up to 4cc's or 5cc's, I'm at 2.2 cc's. If you have 4cc's in your band for the first fill, I can almost guarantee you that you have the VG band or otherwise known as the 10 cc band. Wow, have I confused everyone? Just remember, there is a difference in CM & CC's. The CM is length, and the cc's is volume.
-
Its actually 10 CM, (which is the size of the band) that holds 4cc's and the 9.75 CM band holds 4cc's too. My doc told me the 10 cm band can actually hold up to 5cc's. I think a lot of people get confused by the length of the band and the amount it holds. And a lot confuse the 10 cm band with the 10 cc band (VG) which is I think 13 cm in length and the largest band, it takes a bit longer to get to the sweet spot, however, it is a more forgiving band (in terms of PBing). All the books I've read state this about the VG band. And they say it is more individualized, It just takes longer because it is a larger band. Hope everyone is doing good!

TOM is here, back is hurting, horrible mood swings, cramps that are the worst, took 3 doses of Midol yesterday (does anyhone know if these are okay to take) I was in so much pain, just didn't give a damn. I did not go exercise yesterday - Woke up this morning and was a little afraid to do my measurements and weigh, but decided I would do them anyhow. I'm in such a better mood now after seeing my results, and I'm headed to the gym for a workout and then going to the steam room to see if that makes my back feel better. Read below my results: I'm jumping up & down that I'm finally under 200 lbs and will never see 2 infront of my numbers again! Beginning weight - 248, todays weight (drum roll please) 198.0 I have reached the 50 lbs mark!!!!!!!!! Great explanation. Here are some things I'm noticing about my fill - I received a 2.2cc's in a 4cc band - pretty tight, but not so tight that I get food stuck, not once have I got food stuck, But at times I can feel it going thru the band and it is a pain and I would hate for it to get stuck. Anyhow, back to the band and restriction, for me my restriction varries I've noticed. During TOM, I'm really restricted right now, during the day, not so much, then around 7 pm get really restricted again, could only eat 1 chicken tender for dinner Friday night, but ate an enitire chick thigh for lunch, along with a spring roll, 2 grilled shrimp and a few bites of rice. I find then at times, I'm loser in the evenings too, I really never know how tight I'm going to be. Its almost 2 weeks since my fill. I am supposed to go on 4/5 for my 2nd, but right now, I'm happy with this one. We'll see if I lose more, or start to stall as the time gets closer. I just don't want to start getting food stuck and having all the PB problems. PS - Last night I went to a wedding (My counsins), I havent seen my family in so long, I felt really bad at times because I felt like I was stealing the brides "thunder". Everyone just kept telling my how good I look, (blush) and the best part of it, my old boyfriend was there (gosh he was so hot, he looks like I swear, clint black with blond hair, same dimples and everything - yes he dumped me!). Anyhow, my heart jumps a little when I see him, although I love my DH dearly, I think its just a hurt pride kinda thing, well, he saw me and came over and gave me a hug, and as he hugged me he told me I looked better today then I did 21 years ago. I was thinking "glad you noticed", then I introduced him to my DH of 19 yrs! (he has gone thru several divorces). So, I felt like he might have broke my heart 20 something years ago, but in the end, I've done better without him! (He was still as good looking as ever though!) lol

I wish we had a Trader Joes, I hear a lot about that place and they have good healthy stuff! The Soy rice cakss sound good, we do have a health food place, so maybe I will try it. PS - everyone, just got back from the gym, did 50 min on treadmill and burned around 380 calories! -
I started the couch to 5k running problem once, but never could get past the 3 & 4th week program, its pretty brutal, but so well worth it! Okay - share some pics of your new hair style!
