    January Bandsters???

My doctor told me it is very normal when you first get a fill to only be able to eat 3 or 4 bites. As time goes on, the pouch will stretch and you will be able to eat more. The key is, are you getting things stuck? If you are constantly getting things stuck and they are coming back up, then you might be too tight. Remember right after surgery, we could only eat 3 or 4 bites, but eventually was able to eat more, the same is with a new fill. Give it a week or two, and see how it goes. If you are getting things stuck and not increasing in your food intake, time for a slight unfill.

    Are journals gone for good?

I can still get into my journal, I had mine saved with my signature. You can click on my journal and work your way to your journal that way. This is the only way I can find my journal, can't find it in the forum. But I have still been able to use it this way. Hopefully they won't take the journals away, I use it daily.

    Sanjaya !!!!

I don't think he is horrible - He made it to Hollywood not by being horrible - at least 2 of the judges voted him thru. However, he is not the best singer and sounds horrible against the ones who blow everyone away. I really feel sorry for Sanjaya. He is only 17 and already has faced a lot of critism from everyone. He tried out, he made it, it is not his fault everyone votes for him. lol. Poor kid. I have not voted for Sanjaya, I am a Jordin fan or Blake or Melinda, but I still feel sorry for the kid. Maybe because I have a son that is close to his age and I'm being a protected mother. Now that he is off the show, hopefully everyone will quit picking on the poor kid. lol. I bet you this will not be the end of his career.
  6. My surgeon did come and see me after surgery, I had to spend the night in the hospital though, but he didn't call me. I had to go see him 1 week after surgery and still continue to see him. I think he is very knowledgable and I feel safe with him, but he is lacking in bedside manners. I think every surgeon/doctor should take a course on bedside manners and show a little more concern for their patients.

    When do you feel full?

I eat very slow, a bite every 1 to 2 minutes. I eat for 15 minutes maybe 20 and stop. Sometimes I feel like I could eat more, but I force myself to stop and I wait.....if I am still hungry after 20 minutes I tell myself I will eat more, so far I'm always full after the wait. It takes time for your stomach to tell your brain you are full, so that is why I stop eating after 15 minutes. It seems to be working for me. The times I didn't stop eating and ate until I felt full, oh my, I was miserable and had horrible shoulder and port pain. I'm also still learning to listen to my body, the hiccups have been coming lately and I stop eating.

Slow loser needs advice from good losers

Everyone loses weight at different paces, and it depends on what you weigh, your stats are not included. The heavier you are, usually the quicker you lose. Also, the yournger you are the quicker you lose. You can only do what is right for your body, if you are eating the 800 to 1200 calories a day, or 6 - 8 oz of food, (good quality food, no junk), exercising at least 30 min per day (I see you are doing that), and not eating but 3 meals a day, you have to accept what your body is willing to lose. I know it is not what you want to hear, but its the truth. Sometimes you have to take your measuremets and judge by those. Here is an article about scales http://www.carbsmart.com/outout.html I was losing really fast, now I've slowed down to 5 lbs a month or so, very slow for me. However, I know it might take me awhile to get to my goal, but I will get there. So don't get depressed, just continue to eat right and exercise. Also, success is not always measured by the scales, how do you feel? Is your energy level coming back up? Do you feel skinnier? These are great ways to measure your progress as well. I wish you the best!

    January Bandsters???

Yes, this is a great concern of mine. I feel the band has loosened, I even ate roast last night. But I was full after about 3 or 4 bites. I was at 2.2 cc's and everything was going thru the band. For some reason I have to be tighter to feel restriction, I only lost about 5 lbs since my last fill, and he looked at my under flouro and could see the liquid going right thru, so they tightened me up. Hopefully this fill will stay tight.

    weightloss pills

I took Phentermine during the Bandster Hell. Yes, I got some flack for it, but I was determined not to gain! Maybe some feel like I was cheating, but I also felt I needed the energy that Phentermine gave me - it was just a little boost that I needed. I now take Thermogentics - its over the counter fat burner by EAS. I don't take it regularly because I forget, but it gives me a little energy. I just got my 2nd fill and I don't think there is a need for any type of appetite surpressant now, it is tight and I stay full for hours and hours and can't eat much. The only thing I am still lacking is ENERGY. grrrrrr. Hopefully as the weight continues to come off, I will get some, my CPAP machine is helping, but not enough.

Breakfast - Starbucks Light Frapp (man, when am I going to get away from these?) Lunch - turkey salad, crackers (3) Dinner - olive garden - split a meal with my husband the stuffed chicken marsala (only ate 1/2 of what I got) no breadsticks and a bite or two of a the salad. Exercise - bad girl - NONE Notes - wt 193.8 (must have been the girl scout cookies last night - this should teach me) At least they are in the trash now and no more excuses! Yesterday I was told that I looked like Anna Nicole Smith - I asked this person if I looked like the fat one or the skinny one, lol, either way I took it as a compliment since I've always thought she was beautiful (a little weird, but still beautiful). I was also told last week that I look like Reese Witherspoon - I really took that as a compliment since I think she is absolutely gorgeous. I was approached by another Male supervisor and he asked me how much weight I've lost and how am I doing it? I told him I am eating less and exercising, since knowone knows about my WLS at work. I felt a little guilty, but I its the truth, I am eating less and I am exercising more. Right? DH had surgery yesterday and I've been babying him, he can be a real baby, but I love him - lol. I have to give him constant attention when he is sick or down & out, so he has been taking up all my time and I haven't had time to exercise, but I will have to make time today!

  13. I love the black - but what about the journals? Am I just missing it? Or is there a link to the journals? I have mine under my signature, but many do not.

    i'm an exercise-infomercial junkie!

Oh that is too funny! I too love to watch the infomercials on all the wieght loss gimmicks. I've ordered a few of them in the past, only to sell them in garage sales later. lol. I had the thighmaster, remember that one? The Jane Fonda treadmill, the ab roller, gosh, I can't even remember all the ones I've had. Now I just head to the gym .5 miles away from my house, open 24/7 and do a really good workout. But I still watch those infomercials!

I'm out of here for my anniversary!

Yes - tell us how the lobster went with the band. I'm going on a cruise in a few months and I plan on eating lobster (my favorite!) and was curious on how it would do with the band. Also, happy Anniversary - how many years?

    Annnnd Sanjaya is FINALLY GONE!!!!

Jordin is my favorite too. I thought Sanjaya had an amazing voice at tryouts, but since then, I haven't seen it. I do feel sorry for him, he is only 17 years old and have already received so much flack and criticism. He is a really sweet kid, and I'm sure he learned a lot by being on the show. He just wasn't the best singer, but I bet you this will not be the end of his career. He was too popular with the young girls. I also read he is the most saught after guest for the talk shows right now. I'm glad he is finally off the show, and wish him the best. Now the competition is going to get hard - but I'm voiting for Jordin all the way. I like Blake too and Melinda, those are my top 3.
  17. I do too! It is so lean too. I sometimes mix 1/2 venison and 1/2 lean beef. I eat it often with the band.

    January Bandsters???

How funny, this guy at work told me that yesterday, and this girl told me I looked like Anna Nicole - I asked her if I looked like the fat one or skinny one, lol. Either way, I take it as a compiment. Next week I will be working my booty off doing the 12 week BFL challenge, so I'm hoping in 84 days (the end of the challeng) I will be a lot leaner, stronger, and toned!

    January Bandsters???

Hello January Bandsters - I'm just so darn happy today. I weighed this morning and I'm down to 192 - I'm so close to getting out of the 190's, this will be the first time in over 10 years for me to be lower than 190. I tried for 6 years, YES 6 years doing Low Carb and the lowest I could get down to was 190. I've been banded for 3 months and almost have done what it took me 6 years to do! I'm just amazed. My restriction is very restricted, but I found out I have more trouble with liquids than I do with solids. Has this happened to anyone? Water seems to come back up, but I ate turkey salad for lunch and went down just fine. Really weird, but I'm dealing with it.

    Waiting for Under 200....

I felt the same way, just hit ONDERland last month. I've gotten below 200 so many times in the past, simply to get back over. However, I haven't been under 190 in over 10 years maybe even 15 years. So, reaching 189 will be a real reward for me. I weighed this morning and i'm down to 192 - so 3 more pounds to go, then everyone will feel the earth shake, do not fear, its not an earthquake - its me jumping up & down!

    Now I'm a believer!

WOW - thats a bargain! I've priced them here and they are about $50 a session, the more you buy, the cheaper it gets (but you have to buy about 10 to get a cheaper rate), so I would have to pay around $100 to $150 per week. arrggggg - just can't do that right now.
  24. Congratulations. I started out at the same weight as you, so I'm hoping I can reach my goal as quick as you did! What an inspiration. Questions for you - 1) What do you think contributed to your weight loss (besides the band) 2) Did you do low carb or low fat or both? 3) Did you have PB incidents? 4) Did you exercise - if so, how much? Again, your a great inspiration and we would all love to hear your secrets!

    Now I'm a believer!

Before I was banded, I asked the question to all the LBT members who were banded, what they would have done different. The biggest thing most of them said is they wished they would have started exercising from the beginning. I try and learn from other peoples mistakes, so I took all their advice to heart and have been exercising from the very beginning. I've missed a week here and there, but for the most part, I have been pretty consistant and am pleased with my results. Congratulations on joining a gym and i'm envious that you have a personal trainer. I really would love to hire one myself, but can't afford it right now, but maybe after the summer I will get one.
