I'm finishing up with my 2nd week of BFL challenge
tonya66 posted a blog entry in Sunshine2's (Tonya's) Journal
After todays exercise (which will be my LBWO), and tomorrows cardio session, I will have completed 2 weeks of the Body for Life Challenge - which leave me 10 week sto go or 70 days. I will complete this challenge! I'm excited about not missing any workouts, eating pretty clean for the most part. Things I need to work on - 1) Need to plan my meals better (if you don't plan, you plan to fail) 2) Need to make sure I do my carido in the am on empty stomach - burns more calories this way. 3) Need to plan my workouts so I know what I'm going to do before I go the gym - this will save some time. 4) Going to try and add 2 extra cardio session my 3rd week. 5) Will work on getting some additional supplements (Betagen - helps build muscle) -

I am down 60 lbs now, I weighed in the morning at (drum roll please.........) 188.6! I was having so much problems trying to lose weight in the 190's, and now that I broke the plateau, its falling off. I've lost 4 lbs since Monday! I'm eating and exercising just like before. I'm not complaining, I'll take it, I just find it strange! Heck, I might be out of the 180's sooner than I think.

Oh, thank you so much!

I was just about to PM you to find where you were! We've been missing you!

Ok girls, chins up. This is a life time commitment - not a few months, so you've only just begun. It is a daily struggle to stay on the plan. It is not the "easy way out", as some people say, but we know it takes a lot of hard work. Instead of looking at it as "I've only lost such & sunch pounds", think about how far you have come. Your learning new eating, you are not heavier than you were, you are smaller, and your time is just around the corner. It does take a fill or two to start feeling a good restriction. I still have not PB'd, I've slimed a time or two, but no pbing. I cannot gulp water any longer, but the fills have given me great restriction. I hit a plateau last month, but once it broke, I started the losing train again. I'm convinced YOU HAVE TO EXERCISE. Exercise does not have to be boring, find an activity that you like, even just going for some short walks and build up. I know we are all busy and it takes time out of our day to exercise, but you girls deserve it. I use my exercise time to mediate on my day, or anything I want to think about, Its my alone time and I really enjoy it now. Head hunger is the hardest thing to overcome, and not sure if we will ever overcome it, I take it one day at a time, I fight it every day! Also, losing inches is a big thing so be proud of yourselves, everyone loses at different rates, so I hope someone losing faster doesn't discourage you, I sure don't want to discourage anyone!

I took the weight I weighed the very first time I went to my doctor to discuss the lap band and submit my approval for insurance - at that time it was 248. Since then, I'm down 60 lbs (weighed 188 this morning). I was down around 15 to 20 lbs by the time my surgery came around, but I figure, I lost the weight with the band and some without the band. Either way, I lost it, I deserve credit. Thats my thinking - so count every darn ounce I've lost, because every pound that I've lost has taken real effort!

I feel the same way, I actually can't wait to get to the gym! I'm working out now 6 days a week (sometimes 2 x's per day). I feel so good! I'm down a total of 60 lbs now (weighed this morning at 188). My goal is to get to 178 by June 22nd (my doc's appointment), and he is going to use me in his 2008 calendar. I'm going to be a calendar girl. lol. Congratulations on 38lbs GONE FOREVER!

NSV's - 1. I can cross my legs 2. When I take a bath, my butt doesn't touch both sides of the tub 3. I can wear a size L top now, in the regular section, I'm out of the Womens 4. I have more energy, and am waking up before the alarm 5. Losing weight has made me crave exercise, I cannot miss a session or I go crazy (I was at the gym last night until 10:30 to make sure I got my exercise in) 6. Food no longer controls me 7. I can push a plate back without eating it all - no longer belong to the "clean plate club". 8. My kids keep telling me how skinny their mom is 9. I actually don't look all that bad in pictures any longer - before, all I noticed was my fat hips, now I don't. 10. I no longer feel like a failure

I'm sitting here in tears, I can't believe it, the Lap Band really works! I weighed this morning and I weighed 189.6 - I tried for 6 years to get below the 190's doing Low Carb, and I couldn't do it. I have the Lap Band for 3 1/2 months and I've done it! I've broken out of the 190's! I'm so happy and so excited, and I have no more fears of failing! I have not been in the 180's since 1997 or longer.

I do this to my tilapia too, and any other type of fish. I season it with Blackoned seasonings and grill it on my forman grill! Another recipe I make for my family and they love it this way: Slice lemons and place at the bottom of the pan Lay fish on top of the lemons (season the fish, salt, pepper etc, - anything you like to use) Pour heavy whipping cream, just enough to moisten the fish(this has no carbs) sprinkle with parmesean cheese (I use about 1 cup) and bake uncovered until fish is done (about 20 min) Very delicious and easy!

You could also brown up some ground turkey and drain and add this to the other ingrediants to get more Protein. Sounds yummy, the cheezewhiz is a lot calories, even the low fat, but does sound good!

I thought about that, but my sister in law is one person that would not do good with the lap band, just my personal oppinion. She loves her food and doesn't want to give it up. She has made that statement (of course, its probably a cover up to how she feels and would like to lose weight). I don't know if she is considering it or not, but I really don't think so because she has never talked about it, until the other day, when she asked if I had it done. She is just suspicious on how I'm losing all this weight, and is noticing how little i'm eating. We go out to eat with my in-laws every Friday, so they notice my eating habits. I'm just going to ignore them and continue what I'm doing. They can think what they want, but they will not get a straight answer from me. My DH said if they ask him, he is going to say, "have you asked Tonya", if they say "yes", he'll ask them what I said, when they repeat my answer he'll say "well, I guess you got the answer then". And leave it at that.

The Lap Band Really works

Thank you! I didn't thing anyone really read my journal? lol. Thanks so much, having your support means so much! -
I was stuck at too, I would bounce back in forth for weeks, and after 3 weeks, I finally am dropping again. Your body fights the weight loss, but eventually it gives up and you lose. Hang in there and try and ignore the scales.

This is the problem I'm having....I am very close to my in-laws and we go out to eat EVERY Friday. However, I do not want to share my surgery with them, Its just something I'm very private about, its my medical right! But........my sister-in-law came right out and asked me over lunch Sunday if I had the lap band done, I about crapped my pants, and I told a bold face lie and said no. I am not a good liar and now I feel horrible, but I also feel that she should not have asked me something so private in public. They are starting to notice how little I eat, and she mentioned I eat like a bird. It makes me want to eat more just to appease them. She said that I've lost so much weight, which I have, but I"m also working out at the gym EVERYDAY, and sometimes twice a day. I make good food choices too. Even though I chose not to tell anyone, everyone is starting to get suspicious and starting to suspect it. I'm torn on what to do. I'm not ready to tell them, and might not ever be ready. Its something that is private, some people feel they need to share, and that is great, but for me, I do not want to share it.

Iknow my little tool will help me, I don't question it any longer! I have not been in the 180's since 1997 or longer. I'm just in shock, I stepped on the scales about 50 times this morning, I thought they could be broken. I felt a little fatter and I thought no way could I weigh 189 - but I do, I tested it over and over and over, and then put clothes on and tested it again - it went up to 190.8 after the clothes, but naked, I'm down to 189.6, and thats what counts! So, if anyone felt the earth shake this morning, that was me - jumping up and down - screaming and running around the house saying "The band works, the band works", my dh was laughing and said, "your going to wake the neighbors" - LOL. I'm sure I looked really cute (NOT) running around the house in my b-day suite -

I totally know how you feel. I have several people that really need to know about the band that I work with, and the fact that our insurance will cover it if they meet the 40 BMI (which they do). They are desparate to lose weight and notice my difference, I feel a moral responsibility to tell them, however, I know that it will be come known with my co-workers and my boss. I don't want my boss to think I lied to her about my surgery when I told her I was have hernia repair, which I did have one. Anyhow, I feel horrible sometimes. I sometimes almost blurt it out to them, but I force myself to stay quiet. I'm just not ready to share. So I know what you are going thru - its not easy.
