    Exercise Update

Things have been hectic, so I haven't been keeping track of my exercise & eating in my journal, my bad. I haven't missed an exercise session one - matter of fact, my butt really hurts today. I did lunges last night on my lower body workout, and I'm feeling it this morning. I actually had THREE exercise sessions yesterday, 2 cardio and 1 weight training. I ate too much yesterday and I know I'm ready for a fill. I go tomorrow - yay! I'll try and get better regarding updating my journal, just so busy, no time to for anything. Next week will be 1/2 way mark (June 3). Then I will have 6 weeks to go to complete this challenge. I will be so proud of myself if I can complete this challenge, or should I say, WHEN I complete the challenge. I have tried so many times to complete it but never do, so my focus is to complete it!

    Keeping your Mojo

Okay - so we all get motivated and we are gung ho about losing our weight. We're going strong, nothing can stop us now, or can it? You finally hit the dreaded "I don't care attitude". You realize 3 months later, you've gained weight, your no longer exercising and your eating crap. You wonder, what happened? You were so excited and doing good, then you stopped? Well, you lost your motivation, otherwise known as MOJO. So, I'm on a qwest, how do we keep our mojo going strong? I've been asking the experienced bandsters this question, what motivates you? What keeps you motivated? Here are some tips - 1) Have some goals and write them down! Make sure they are very clear and precise goals. Don't just say, I want to lose 50 lbs, ror 60 lbs. What are you going to do to hit that goal? Have some short term goals - and work toward your bigger goals. 2) Have some NSV goals. It's not all about weight, maybe you want to wear a size 10, or maybe you want to no longer touch the sides of the bathtub with your thighs when you are in it (one of my NSV goals). 3) Measure your success - thats right, get out the tape measure and measure! You will be amazed at the results (I've lost 8 inches off my hips - that to me is amazing!). Also, measure your success with pictures, take your picture every month, you might even take it nude, this is just for you to measure your success. Or take it in you undies, or bikini, however you want. Look at the before & after pics and check out Foodchamps - you can really see the difference in her tummy area, but if you just took the pic fully clothed, you wouldn't be able to see the results. 4) You have to be tough about the scales. Yes, this is hard to do, I know from experience. But, realize your body water weight changes all the time, some days its retaining some days it is now. So the best thing to do is measure your results weekly or monthly. 5) Look at your before pic often and then look at your latest pic, see how far you have come, don't stop now. Keep telling yourself this. Vision yourself smaller and fit and heathy. 6) Fake it until you make it......I'm talking about exercise. The dreaded word. I hated it, I faked it, went to the gym and walked slowly on the treadmill faking it, then after about 3 weeks, I started increasing the speed, and finally really started pushing myself, I made it....get it? Fake it until you make it! I promise, keep doing this and you will make it, but its hard in the beginning so push yourself to the gym or to go for a walk. 7) Keep track of what you eat, don't just say, I'm doing good, why am I not losing....if you keep track of EVERY bite you can look back on it and say "Wow, it must be the bite here and there of the M&m's i'm consuming, or that piece of candy I grab everyday off my desk etc. Keeping track of what we eat will keep us on the losing path, it will keep us motivated. 8) Buy yourself some new clothes! it will motivate you, promise. I bought myself a size smaller and now am wearing it. It motivates me to keep going smaller. We deserve to reward ourselves, so lets do it, but no with food! 9) Don't look at your flaws (I do it, its easy to do) look at your accomplishment and what you are doing - keep thinking about how much better you are going to look, this helps me stay motivated. 10) After you reach your goals, mark them off your list. It motivates me to keep checking off goals. It keeps me motivated! Below are my goals I wrote back in December (see my first page of my journal) - So I'm going thru them and checking off what I have done - 1. I want back in my bikini! I haven't worn it since, well, 14 years ago. Not yet - but working toward it 2. I want a fit body, not just healthy but toned, I want my atheletic shape back - the one way to do this is EXERCISE (note to self, get off the couch and MOVE) - I've started exercising, so I'm working toward this goal, I can see changes in my body and I feel better so 50/50 accomplished so far. 3. I want to buy sexy clothes again! and not only buy them, but be able to wear them and feel good in them. - I bought a few sexy shirts, and I will be wearing one next weekend. So, I'm going to say this goal has been reached! 4. I want to be able to bend down and tie my shoes without the breath being knocked out of me. - DONE! 5. I want to be able to get in the tub and not have my ASS take up the entire tub, side to side - oh this sucks. - DONE! 6. I want to be able to cross my legs. - DONE! 7. I want to be able to wear shorts without them riding up my crotch. - hmmmm, almost but not quite. 8. I want to be able to walk without my thighs rubbing each other and sweating in the summer and leaving that horrible heat rash! - still working on this one. 9. I want to be able to push food away and not feel the need to clean up the entire plate.- I say - DONE. 10. I don't want food to be my focus in life.- DONE! 11. I want my kids to be proud of me. 12. I want to feel beautiful again and not 40 & fat. - Working on this, but not quite there. 13. I want to be able to buy a low rise pair of jeans without my stomach hanging over. my current jeans go clear up to my belly button. - My most exciting goal of all that I reached! I bought my first pair last week and they look good! 14. I want to be able to have sex with my DH and not feel the need to "turn the lights off". - Well, almost. 15. I want to become where exercise is a part of my life, where I crave exercise like I crave chocolate.- Becoming more and more part of my life! OMG - I've reached this goal! 16. I want to inspire other people to lose weight. - I was just told the other day that I inspire them. So I am going to say DONE! 17. I want to become a personal trainer. - This is a long term goal of mine - so not there yet! 18. I want to buy attractive Teddies to wear instead of my sweatpants and tee shirts to bed. - I forgot about this goal, so I think next week after I complete my 6th week of BFL, I will by myself a new nightie, to celebrate my 1/2 mark with bfl. 19. I want to be proud of my weight, not ashamed. - almost, but not quite 20. I want people to be shocked that I am 40 because I look younger, not shocked because I am 40 and I look 50. - working on this, the more weight I lose, the younger I look.

    Drinking 45min After Meal??

Also, the pouch is small, it cannot hold the food and the liquid. My doctor said I could drink right up until the time I eat, but some doctors say not too, because there might be Fluid in your pouch when you eat, therefore, pushing the food thru. Also I was told, eating and drinking can overfill the pouch and cause it to stretch - which we don't want. have tried to eat and drink a few times, and it hurt like heck for me, caused me to slime - so it is uncomfortable for me to do it, so I don't.

    January Bandsters???

Thanks guys, I can't believe the difference I feel in 4 short months! I still have a ways to go, but I'm enjoying this new life of mine! I get compliments every day, and my kids and husband are so proud of me. My son (who is 16) just told me last night "Mom, your looking hot!". lol. Coming from my son, that was a real compliment. This by no means has not been easy, I know you all feel the same way. It takes a lot of discipline and it really urks me when someone things "surgery" is the easy way out. I'm getting my butt up at 5 am, and let me tell you, this is not easy. I'm turning down my neighbors homemade pinapple upside down cake - that is not easy!, I'm eating salad without my blue cheese dressing and opting for the fat free, low cal spray on vinerger, again, not easy! I am order grilled veggies with my grilled chicken sandwhich instead of the fries, and then I don't eat the bread, NOT EASY. So, it really pisses me off (heard this the other day about a girl that had GB surgery from a co-worker), They said that she took the easy way out. oh man, I went off on them. I don't think they will be saying that again. lol. Have a great day everyone - I better get to work.

    January Bandsters???

Okay, sunday was my 4 mo anniversary, here are my latest comparison pics. I am starting to see some major differences! Yay! I still have a long way to go, but making progress toward my ultimate goal every month.
  9. Okay - here are my "Work in progress photos". 1st one is the night before surgery, the 2nd is my 4 mo band anniversary (taken yesterday). I still have a long way to go, but I am making progress every month!

    January Bandsters???

Yay - we have some more January Bandsters joining in. Okay everyone, I have to share my NSV! I'm so happy, I want to yell it from the roof top! One of my goals was to buy a pair of low rise jeans, not too low, but lower than my "mom Jeans". Anyhow, this weekend I bought my first pair! The best news, they are not in the womens section, they were in the junior section, and you ready for this, a size 13! And, I actually look good in them. lol. I'm wearing them today and I can't even tell you the compliments I got today. Its a brand of jeans called "cruel girl", I've been wanting them forever, but never could fit into them, the largest size they make up is a size 15 juniors. Anyhow, tried a pair on and they slid on like a great pair of gloves. I love them! I took my before BFL challenge pictures in a bikini (just for my viewing purpose to see how much I improve in my stomach area). I took my 4 week progress shot this weekend and OMG, I can't believe the difference. I am still fat, and still wouldn't wear a bikini out in public, but the difference in my bikini area (stomach) is unbelievable after just 4 weeks. I still have 8 more weeks to complete this challenge, and I might be brave enough to share the 12 week shot with you guys - if you promise not to laugh. lol. Me in a bikini is pretty scary. But I really wanted to see the difference in my ab area and I'm seeing it. The only area I still have problem with is my damn cellulite. Any suggestions on how to improve that? I'm hoping if I continue to lose some fat and exercise it will improve. Lord I hope so. I am just so happy today in my jeans! I can't believe I am actually wearing a pair of low rise, cruel girl, size 13 juniors jeans....and I can even breathe in them! Didn't have to lay down and tuck and pull to get them on! LOL. Exercise is paying off ladies, for those of you that haven't started, you have to do it.....start out by walking only, I did. Start slow and move up. Before you know it, you'll trade your food addiction to exercise - which is a much better addiction. I hope everyone is doing okay....

  14. Notes - ahhhh, I'm back in the game! Had THREE exercise sessions yesterday! I am so proud of myself! I am almost 1/3 of the way finished with the BFL challenge! I haven't missed any exercise sessions, and I'm starting to see some changes in my body. I swear, I get a glimpse of myself (even though I still see myself as FAT), I will sometimes look at my profile walking by glass or a window or something, and I think WOW,that is me? I am shocked that I actually look skinny sometimes. Then when I look at myself in the mirror, I see this fat girl starring back at me. I notice every dimple, every sag, and every fat cell on my body. My DH tells me I'm way too critical of myself, and he is right. I am trying to accept my body and love it and just be the best I can be. No matter what sagging skin I have. It feels so good to try on clothes and they fit! I am wearing a 14 now with absolutely no problems, and that is a 14 regular, not 14W. I love it. I can even wear Juniors clothes - this is cool. I want to lose more weight, and I will lose more weight, but I am comfortable now. If I don't lose another pound, I still feel good. But, I will lose more and I will get to goal - that is a promise I made to myself and I will keep it! Also - I managed to stay off scales this morning! Yay! Exercise #1 - 10 am - 20 min HIIT on Elliptical - felt a little sick afterward - 196 calories, 1.72 distance Exercise #2 - M1 - LC Big train Vanilla Latte with Betagen added in M2 M3 M4 M5

    January Bandsters???

So far I have gotten nothing stuck, only slimed a few times, but not episodes of PBing. I think I will see how this fill continues, and next week, I will make my decision as to get another fill, or ride this one out. I might just need a slight one, like .2cc's or so. Oh, I gotta tell you guys this, I am starting to see my colar bones! I haven't seen them in YEARS!
  17. I was gung ho for Gastric Bypass and a girl I work with had gastric Bypass and I was talking to her about getting GB, she actually talked me out of Gastric Bypass and told me aboutthe band....That started research on the internet which led me to this sight - and eventually my band!

Well, mine has gotten better, even though it was pretty good before, it is really good now!

    January Bandsters???

Congrats on your new baby! Thats is exciting! Also, don't stress of the weight gain, I know that if you are taking meds it can cause a slight water gain. So, take care of yourself and doctor your cold!

    January Bandsters???

First of all, so sorry to hear about your friend, that is horrible to be so young! I will keep you and her family in my prayers, that is just heartbreaking! Do you know what she died from? To answer your questions, Yes, stress can affect the band, from what I've read. When was your last fill? Mine was a month ago and I am noticing I'm tighter this week. I'm scheduled for another fill next week (the 25th), but I am noticing more restriction again. Weird band - I swear, I wish it would make its mind up. lol.
  21. Notes - Tom has gotten the best of me this month, I must get my head screwed back on straight. I had a binge fest last night, ate too much. Never PB'd but ended up sliming on a 1/2 of brownie - yuck. Then late night, had some nachos, and ended up waking up with acid reflux a little (the nachos still in my pouch because went to bed right after I ate them). I also ate 2 bowels of cereal, and a bowel of soup. A complete pig last night. This morning, the alarm went off to go exercise, I turned it off and rolled back over, couldn't even get out of bed. So mad at myself this morning. Now I must go exercise tonight! I will not miss a workout session - I will not do it! I must go exercise! I must I must I must! Driving into work this morning, I had a long talk with myself and told myself I need to get my head back into the game. So today, its back into the game, no more binging, no more excuses! M1 - Caramel light frapp. M2 - 3 oz of baked fish and 1/2 cup of salad with spritz on dressing (1 cal per spray, had 5 sprays) M3 - laughing cow cheese - light - 1 oz M4 - 3/4 cup of turkey chili with 1 oz of cheese M5 Exercise #1 - (3:00 pm) 20 min on Elliptical (HIIT) - 210 calories, 1.62 distance, upped the resistance to level 4. My legs are burning! Exercise #2 - UBWO (9:30 pm) Exercsise #3 - Yes number 3 - did 30 min on treadmill, 4% incline, 3.3 mph, 248 calories, 1.82 distance. Wt this morning - 189.2 (geeze - I'm going the wrong direction!) I'm not weighing again until Sunday! Friday is my 4 month anniversary (with the band) and Sunday is my 4 week BFL update. So, I will weight Sunday for both ocassions, and take my 4 week BFL picture and measurements.

  23. I have to vote for Vegas too! Its inexpensive for the most part - great for conventions etc. And the flights to Vegas are pretty frequent and affordable. I used to live in Las Vegas (20 years ago), and have been back many times, and there is always plenty to do. So when are we planning the "get together"? I'm ready to mark it on my calendar and plan my trip! How exciting. This can be my reward to myself for reaching my goal (when I get there - still working on it). We owe it to ourselves to reward ourselves with something - besides food, and what better reward than Vegas? Sign me up!

    January Bandsters???

I just read on this forum - I think her name was Woodys, but anyhow, she is about to be at a year on June 8th, and she has reached her goal weight, has lost 93 lbs. She said the key to her weight loss was exercise and staying on top of her fills. So I believe we must stay on our doc to get to the propper restriction. I want to be at goal in a year too damn it! lol. On a side note - I am exercising. I'm really kinda proud of myself for starting the BFL challenge and so far I have not missed 1 single workout! And I have added a few extra cardo sessions in a week. So, I'm doing good in the exercise area.

    January Bandsters???

Enterprise - I go see my doctor next Friday for fill #3 and I'm going to ask him this question. I have been told even though that our band is 4cc's it actually holds 5cc's. I have some restriction, but not enough. So maybe just a small fill will get me to the "sweet spot".
